Very professorial & instructive, Doctor N0, keep up the enjoyable & concise, encyclopedic presentations and Lock enthusiasts will thank their stars for the knowledge & expertise you share. Huzaa!
Nice vid, this definently shows the downside of standard handcuffs tho. A neat design to see would be solid steel body, VERY tight tolerances between twin locking pawls, and a mini medeco core, even a 4 pin would probably suffice as getting to it would be a struggle and then add the difficulty associated with medeco cores, as far as double locking is concerned, id say the standard system could work and simply turning the key backward like a traditional handcuff could probably work.
The closest thing to that right now is BOA's CuffMaxx system which retrofits S&W and Peerless handcuffs and leg irons with either Medeco or Assa Desmo cores. In theory the parts for the S&W models might be modified to fit Yuil hand cuffs which feature two independent pawls and lots of anti-shim features.
At this point S&W has an example of just about all of the major double locking mechanisms in modern use except for the tin-tumbler double lock which is pretty much only found on Rivolier's high security handcuffs currently.
I wonder how many people visit this video for embarrassing reasons :) You always see stories about couples stuck in handcuffs because somebody lost *the* key. But you never hear stories about them buying and selling old cuffs and ending up with the wrong key lol. Like someone trying to open a pair of Hiatt with a Clejuso key or an Alcyon key lol. Wait, I think there's a cheesy adult industry video in that story somewhere... Nope, I got nothing.
That is actually quite similar to how I ended up with one of my Hiatt sets. I have also heard of some specialist locksmiths advertising services for just such situations. I usually recommend making and keeping one of the 'Ultimate' handcuff keys that TOOOL designed several years ago for those circumstances. They will fit almost cuffs that don't require high security keys.
I have made for myself a key of the ultimate handcuff key to. They also fit some high security makes also like yuil and asp. very good keys. sombody should professionally make and sell them, their patent fell through because it was not unique enough due to anyone can measure keys and make one of the average of them all, not really an invention.
The point of the design was the ability to use those keys on anything from the very common designs (eg S&W 100, Peerless 300, etc) to the medium security and unusual cuffs like ASP 'high security', Yuil, Kyoung Chang high security, etc.

Nite 0wl oh I didn't even kno those existed, I would think the PDs around the US would upgrade but I think cost is the only thing in the way right now
Videos are worth the wait. :) Interesting to see the different double locking mechanisms.
