      Another way to get off Cable ties is to untie your laces, tie the inside laces together through one of the cable ties and use the laces as a saw. Works on Police grade cable ties.
      Not that I've done it myself or advocate escaping the police!

    This is why you don't ever leave handcuffed prisoners alone. They can get the cuffs in front of them and work at escaping by either picking, shimming or cracking the cuffs off. Handcuffs are a only a temporary restraint decice for supervised prisoners. The real world is not TV.

      @@justintyler4693 I did that also, I have double jointed thumbs and I can make my hands smaller than my wrists so in the holding tank I slid the cuffs off. But then I thought, I don't need to get into anymore trouble then I already am so I put the cuffs back on but very very loose... when the booking officer came in, I told him that the arresting office (young cop) should really put cuffs on tighter, I could have been dangerous. He then asks who do I think I am, Houdini? Turns me around and easily slides the cuffs off by himself... then he left the cell and I could see him yelling at the other cop haha.

    Scam School, appreciate what you do. I did notice one thing. The "Rachet" style cuffs indeed can be escaped from as you show but besides "escape artist" and some unwitting security firms ie not actual Professional Law Enforcement they are not used. Please do a video on escape from the type that is most commonly used by Law Enforcement or serious "Bad guys" ie the kind without a ratchet, a pinned wheel that inserts the pin into the cuff holes as it is tightened then is locked in place secondarily to prevent over tightening. Thanks for your time, keep up the good work.

    One glaring problem:You never double-locked the cuffs, which is done 100% of the time when someone is placed in cuffs for more than 30 seconds....and I've never cuffed someone and NOT double locked it. The shim won't work double locked.

    When you have two separate zip ties (unlike the police versions) the protruding end also makes a great and available shim. Learned that long ago trying to save zip ties for reuse.
    On police handcuffs, I thought the standard ones had a mechanism to lock them so that they would not be able to be shimmed. The actual reason for that being to prevent them from over tightening on the wrist. Really like that key on the boot string idea, though.

      I live across the street from a library and own about 400 books. I read approximately 40 solid books a year. ranging about a book a week depending how far i need to travel. My post was not to compare dick sizes, but to simply state that the message you broadcast with "screw books" isnt a positve one and could potentially affect this newer generation. Book sales have dropped and even online books arent what they used to be. its a sad fact that fewer people read anymore. You should also hide shims, handcuff keys, or small blades in the belt seam of your pants. Cut a small hole in the back or front your waistband, or both, and put the key, shim, or blade in there and lightly stitch it back so it is easy for you to rip it back open and pull the thing back out. Be sure to put something a few inches in the hole to stop your lockpick of choice from moving deeper in, like another stitch.

    You seem to be forgetting that anyone knowing how to use restraints properly will put your hands behind your back, with the backs of your hands facing each other. Similarly, police grade handcuffs have a pin-lock on them; which will completely prevent you from tightening the cuffs. As well, zip-cuffs are ONE tie that has a band/loop for each hand. Not only that, but they are ~1/2" thick each... good luck muscling your way out of that one!
    If you're going to pretend to be an expert, try actually doing some research first!

    • @scamschool
      @scamschool  9 років тому +2

      Bruce J. Wilde Hands behind the back changes nothing about the cuffs. Just as pickable.
      And zip ties behind the back will get sawn through just as easily as in the front.
      Really, nothing you've mentioned changes anything, no?

    • @BruceDoesStuff
      @BruceDoesStuff 9 років тому +3

      Scam School actually try doing this with your palms facing outwards... You'll have a hell of a time even finding the keyhole, or lining up your shim (the shim which wouldn't work with the double-lock anyhow).
      Also, you may need to re-watch your own video, because you didn't even talk about sawing through the zip ties. You only talked about breaking them, which I'm also quite sure you couldn't do from a properly cuffed position.
      In short, you couldn't be more wrong. What I've mentioned changes EVERYTHING.

    One thing: Double-locked cuffs.
    When handcuffs are properly used, IE: double-locked, you cannot shim them. You cannot 'paperclip' unlock them. It is a whole different skillset and tool to unlock them at that rate, due the the double-lock mechanism taking quite a bit more torque to release.

    • @scottdidier3739

      you just have to turn the pick the other direction first to disengage the second lock. paperclip is usually too soft but hairpin works.

    Non-locking only.
    If the handcuff is locking a shim will not work.
    If it is hinged, you can not spin enough to use a shim or a key.

      true for the shim, but the bobby pin still works. (you'll just need to unlock both directions)

    eres a unique method to escape from handcuffs using a zip tie as a shim as those are everywhere cuffs are used. Its also possible but painful to break zip ties using your method if you are also in cuffs, a rare but sometimes occurs here in NZ, probably not a good start to hand them back the cuffs to the local police, they have no sense of humor lol but the reaction is priceless.so need to get myself one of your rings, having a concealed key normally only works once but they are easily 3d printed so normally a few in the bottom of pockets, laundry safe and can be secured if needed with a stitch. joys of modern tech, but have made a ton via old school engineering as well, one of those things to do with idle hands in a workshop.

      It's easy to do, after they cuff you, tell them you wish to exercise your Constitutional rights.
      Then, while they are beating you and yelling "Stop resisting, get on the ground!" over and over, they will be too busy to notice you clandestinely using the shim to free yourself.
      After you are shot in the back several times, if you are still alive, it should be easier to undo the handcuff attaching you to the hospital bed without being observed.

    Love the video, two things tape be careful there are 3 types of tape you might not break , threaded tape, clear package tape, and tape that is mostly polymer as they plastic may heat up and bend instead of break. The handcuff shim you created may get stuck without a way to unlodge the shim (extra offense or worse). Handcuffs are my fav, learn how to use a bobby pin to unpick the double lock and then the first lock. Without a key this is my preferred. 1 last thing every law/military/...... all of these escapes are from behind the back.

They dont get any tighter at all once they have you cuffed and they use the key to stop the ability to "wratchet in" anymore. I'm speaking from experience from being cuffed, thats what happens. About handcuffs: A properly trained police officer handcuffs someone so that 1) the handcuffs are behind the back, 2) the palms are facing outward, 3) the cuffs are closed properly and without being loose on the wrists, 4) the keyholes are faced toward the prisoner's elbows, and 5) the double lock is engaged.
    By doing this the officer ensures maximum difficulty (and pain) for surreptitiously removing the cuffs.
    In over 3 decades of police work, arresting countless people in a very large metropolitan area, I never knew of anyone being able to escape properly installed handcuffs.

    This information can actually come in handy in a non-illegal way. At my high school, they have a criminal justice class and have handcuffs for some training seminar/club. Some freshman took the hinged folding handcuffs and folded them in half and put both cuff jaws on his arm and locked them. The hinged cuffs folded in and the keyway was blocked by the folding hinges and they couldn't get the cuffs off him until the school police officer shimmed them. Some student could have shimmed the cuffs if he knew how and could have saved the kid an hour.

    Great video, I was taught for zipties to use you legs, If they are bigger your arms might not be strong enough to break against your chest, but if your hands are tied in front you can tuck your knees and push outwards with your legs and if they are behind your back you can tuck your hands under your bum and stand up with force. This was taught in the Military. Edit: Spellcheck correction.

      You hope you don't get shot for "attempted escape/evasion". lol... the only time you should escape from cuffs is if your an escape artist in an entertainment capacity, otherwise you're just setting yourself up for even more trouble.

    and that's why when trained for policeman, they learn you to handcuff someone with their palms facing away from each other, fairly tight so they cant rotate their wrists in the cuffs, and behind their backs. this way its impossible for someone to manipulate with the very simple locking mechanism

      ***** hide what? Maybe it wasn't clear what I meant, but using the way I described is impossible for someone to manipulate the cuffs even if you have the key.

    • @ExternalDefeat87
      @ExternalDefeat87 8 років тому +3

      +dimos k Correct. Also, they double lock the cuffs to keep them from tightening anymore. Thus preventing this method. Do people honestly think that the police are so dumb that they wouldn't know these tricks? lol

    • @dimosk7389
      @dimosk7389 8 років тому +4

      Josh Brown the double locks mainly helps to avoid the arrested man/woman from injuring him/herself by tightening the cuffs on purpose. This serves 2 purposes.
      A legal one, since they can't blame you for excessive force etc.
      And a practical one, because if someone tightens them too much there is a danger for real damage to their hands because of bad blood circulation, which means that the police officer will have to open the cuffs to protect the arrested one from injuries, and this could lead to bad situations if they are not in a controlled environment.
      I hope this makes sense, because it makes sense in my maiden language but not sure about the translation lol

    • @Teikalenlikesstuff
      @Teikalenlikesstuff 10 років тому

      The double lock on Smith&Wessons and one other really cheap brand can be released via the keyhole, using the paperclip or hairpin method but going the other way first. (if the double lock is engaged via the pin or the key hole, I'm not sure about the slider. Would make sense though). I havent played with other brands. It does stand to reason that the shim method won't work with the double lock, though. Good call.
