My biggest struggle is adding things to my resume because it messes up all the spacing. How do I address this!? I can’t find a template that is easy to reformat when I need to go back in later and add things. I don’t want to pay for a resume and I want to be able to keep the resume saved on my computer (in other words, not be required to log into an account to access it).
Really great information! I worked as a recruiter for a while and always reformatted peoples resumes to highlight or bold things that the employer was looking for so it stood out! This information is so true!

Just reviewed a resume with Gills Sans and think it’s the cleanest font. So easy to read!

You're absolutely right about that! A good rule of thumb is to remove work experience that is more than 10 - 15 years old. Thanks for watching.
Janelle Fraser I always suggest keeping a “master resume” with everything you’ve ever done on it, and then when you are ready to apply for a position- copy/paste the whole thing into a new document and delete everything that isn’t relevant to that position.

Interesting point you made about font size. Tend to use 14 rather than 12, simply to make it more legible and clearer to read. Great video and great points. Thanks for sharing.

I struggle with remembering what I have done and the formatting.. and the wording... I guess the whole thing.
Resume formatting can be time consuming. However with a little bit of energy and time, it really does make a difference.

Yovanny, great question. It depends on how much experience you have. Less than 5 years, stick to a one page resume. More than 5 years, use two pages. Does that help?

In case if someone is doing a career transition after working for two years in a different field then, that person is not having any relevant achievements regarding the transition domain. Only the thing he/she having is the particular course completion for the switching domain. So, in this case, what should be written in the achievements section or whether he/she should mention skills of the previous job or not? as this will not make any sense.

Yeah I was just wondering I'm watching your videos as they are part of a link in a college course of mine for professional resume writing and several of your tips and comments actually go completely opposite of what some of the literature that we are reading says for example the different font types it says to use those types that you have stated not to use it also says not to use color or any phasers too large of a size etcetera I just was wondering which is correct do you keep it boring in standard or do you make it stand out like you're suggesting because the two types of things they're teaching us kind of conflict one another thank you I'll forward your response
Hi! Thanks for watching. Great questions. I’m okay with a tiny bit of color on a resume. Like maybe the headlines could be blue. But that’s really it. Also keep the font style simple. Hope this helps!

I’ve recently been applying to jobs. Many employers use websites that allow you to transfer your resume into their forms automatically but I always have to retype everything. Any recommendations?

@Garvita Madan If you have less than the required work experience, remember you can highlight your transferable skills. Recruiters will be interested in your well-written resume if you have at least 70% of what they’re asking for.

Took me longer than it should have to realize just how important white space is instead of cramming everything onto a page.
