It’s kind of ironic that he doesn’t like robots being put to the death against one another. So he just flat out destroys them instead of incapacitating them or using his core to reprogram them.
To be fair I don't think that's how the blue core works and even if it did, he would need to open his chassie , exposing the core to danger, the incapacitating part tho is true

Remove the limbs for a start to stop mobility then proceed to destroy any other weapons they happen to have on them eg guns unless they happened to have weapons and vital components connected, in which case tank the hits, dude went through a mountain I think he can handle bullets 😆, the only real threat would probably be energy weapons

Yeah I thought the same thing. He talks about not wanting to fight other robots then in the space of a minute rips a robots head off.
Would have preferred it if he either broke their weapons or maybe disabled them in some other way

Well as the other guy did say, more advanced robots are capable of intelligent thought, these ones where specifically programmed to fight and have no say in that matter
Taking into account what Astro said, he only fought in self defense. Never threw the first punch until the opponent attacked.

It could just be a very dense robot, where the two secondary robots become mostly hollow. Realistically if the extra legs and weapons are taking up most of the inside, and the rest of the robots parts are just sliding apart to expand, it could work. Its just not really a practical design, and is more showy than it is capable of fighting.
It would also explain why the small gunner robot got completely destroyed in a single hit, the metal is probably quite thin, and there is no internal structure inside to resist it.
I think this movie would've done a lot better if they gave Astro Boy the same conviction as Aang from Avatar. Astro is suppose to be made of pure positive energy, imagine him begging not to fight but having to anyway. Imagine him taking a few punches cause he's trying to reason with the other robots, slowing breaking down. He not only gets arena and his friends on his side, but us as the audience too. Then when we finally get to Zog, you can buy that he didn't want to fight him and accept his own fate. A little dark I know, but that's what some kid's shows and movies need to stand out from the crowd.
I’d say this movie is dark enough to stand out. The person who we think is the main character dies within the first 10 minutes and then his father goes to insane and unhealthy lengths to grieve, creating a clone of his son which he then disowns. It’s honestly a dark concept.
@@rileymclellan8953 I agree with that. Also, I’m glad they didn’t make Astro slowly break down trying to reason with those fighting robots. I don’t know if me or anyone else could’ve taken it, given what he goes through already.

Positive energy does not mean you are a complete pacifist, just means that you’re extremely kind.
It would be more interesting if Astro could unleash his incredible potential and literally force everyone in the arena to stop the slaughter, awakening their hidden minds with his own suffering from their weapons. This would make him truly chosen for them, because he managed to abandon the evil will of evil masters, stop obeying the program and choose a different path, defeat the invincible - the program itself and the directive. After all, robots have no will to resist, they were created with tools with intelligence. He had no choice but to destroy them and they had no choice but to attack until a miracle happened.

If I remember correctly they have a chip or something in the fighter robots and the chip is what activates the field

Yeah, but I wish Astro to be with brown eyes again, like in most of the versions. I don't like the way Astro looks in the Astro Boy Reboot from 2015, or Go Astro Boy Go that much. My favorite version of the Anime is that from 2003 and I just love when Astro says: "Let's Rocket"!

Combining kicking with jet boot burns is actually an awesome move. You not only add fire damage to the kick, but also push the target harder and for a longer time.

My option: Astro did not fight, even under the blows of electricity, he did not allow himself to be attacked to the end, but even when he had nothing left, he neutralized them and suffered blows until finally all the robots realized his invulnerability and will to end this fight. Subsequently, these works would have helped him to stop the mad military.

The forcefield isn't always active, it turns on when someone crosses the threshold. So before fights start they tune the forcefield to the fighters in the arena. Or at least that's the most reasonable theory I can think of.

It is based on the Japanese Franchise
with the same name.
It's ashamed that the 2009 Animated Film
didn't do well at the box office.
I wasn't introduced to Astro Boy from this movie, but god damn if it didn't intensify my love for this series ten fold. The movie has its issues, sure. But just because something isn't perfect, doesn't mean it's bad.
I think the flaws make it charming, I find the butt machine guns so stupid that I actually chuckle at them every time.
