Anyone else notice that at the end Deaths whistle was moved from a minor to a major key to almost signify that death isn’t a monster but more like a friend there to great you at the end
The whistle is always major but on other parts of the movie it ends on the leading tone instead of the tonic, and at 3:38 the harmony uses the augmented chord to sound hellish. But it does feel a bit like a minor scale because of the sixth becoming minor.
The goodbye helps with that. Puss knows Death will be there to greet him when he dies but instead of fearing him, he now sees him as, if not a friend, then at least an ally who will guide him to the afterlife.
So I've done some mini research on swords. Specifically Puss's Rapier. So it's a Spanish/Italian sword (which fits cos Dreamworks Puss in Boots is Spanish, but the original was Italian) originally a dress sword worn by the aristocracy but gradually worn by civilians. Typically the users worn no armour. It's lightweight and very quick designed to poke holes in your opponent (well suited to a cat) however Puss actually lacked a very important part of the ensemble of a rapier user. They typically had either a small shield or a small dagger for defense. So Kitty giving Puss her Gatito Blade actually completed the ensemble

The final fight between Puss and Death is actually interesting. Puss finally fought for his life to preserve it, standing up in the face of certain death and can even fight on even terms with him. When you no longer fear death, death has no power over you.

And when he comes face to face with death (literally), he’s dead serious. 6:43 An incredible arc for an incredible film
No need to sneak it in. Death drew blood on Puss earlier in the film, and it was focused on in a big way. That said: It was fire. Death was stripping Puss of all the things that made him a legend. He tears the cape, damages the boots, bats away the hat, then disarms the rapier. Creating the juxtaposition of the ordinary dagger being what saves his life, thus adding to his legend instead
6:54 Dude that demon growl and lightning speed is spooky 💀 his blades didn’t hit the ground which means he made that heavy sound of metal with just his feet or the wind was so heavy it made the sound impact to his blades
@ttvCaptainJack right but language is funny. Because we're translating, and because the movie can be both comedic and serious, there is room for deviation from the exact translation. While all 3 translations listed, my two and your single, are very similar they're using different contexts. Perhaps if I said puss said "Hasta, la Muerte." As in calling death by name my question would have made more sense. It seems to me it could simply be puss saying goodbye using a name, or, as the literal translation like you said.
If you're talking about the part when Puss kicks Death back before Death puts the two sickles together, then what Death is saying is "Bien, muy bien" translates to "Good, very good"
I was honestly surprised when I heard about this movie, I didn't know it was coming out a couple years ago. But then I saw it was on Netflix and I thought "I heard good things, let me see" and I loved this movie, great animation, great soundtrack and a multicast of villains that don't exactly step on each other but it all works fantastic... I would rewatch this over and over if it was the only movie available
A great detail here is that this is the first and only time in the movie where we see Death do anything that is undeniably supernatural. Before now, he's appeared out of nowhere but we could assume he was just very stealthy, especially since this movie operates on a combination of comic book and anime rules within a fairy tale universe. Even after telling Puss "I'm Death, straight up", he doesn't do anything blatantly supernatural since his reflections when Puss is running out of the cave could be dismissed as hallucinations caused by sheer panic. However, summoning those pinkish-purple flames is irrefutably a supernatural power. And doing it in front of witnesses means this confrontation cannot be dismissed as being in Puss' head. He truly is face to face with the Grim Reaper.
This movie just establishes that Death is a concept that WILL move as it pleases if it has to and if it wants to. So no matter how powerful you are, even if you are an immortal, or a God. If Death so wishes it, it will come for you and it will win.
3:29. We can see that the wolf is literally through this wall that literally killed one of jack horners people 1:21. This indicates that the wolf is actually death itself in the movie and the wolf disappeared in those flames wich also is another indication 7:23

6:47 POR QUE DIABLOS FUI A JUGAR CON MI COMIDA
What does it mean?
Why The Hell Am I Playing With My Food
@@Shapeshifter-of-Names It ought to be in the past tense though, shouldn't it?
*POR QUE DIABLOS FUI A JUGAR CON MI COMIDA*
@@wesltall1 I'm a native speaker. The most exact translation is "Why the hell did I go play with my food!"
Love how the purple wall of magic can annihilate everybody else, but Death walks through it like it isn't even there.
4:13 how I want my cat to remember me 😭
6:54 Dude that demon growl and lightning speed is spooky 💀 his blades didn’t hit the ground which means he made that heavy sound of metal with just his feet or the wind was so heavy it made the sound impact to his blades
OK, but when he says "hasta la muerte" is he saying see you later Death.
Or is he saying see you when I'm dead.
Death said "You know we will meet again right?" Puss answers with hasta la muerte, or "Until Death" meaning he wont see him until its his time to go.
Puss: Pick it up
Death: You dare use my own spells against me?
“Boi yeah” - death
Best line in the movie
If you're talking about the part when Puss kicks Death back before Death puts the two sickles together, then what Death is saying is "Bien, muy bien" translates to "Good, very good"
@@theshadowforger775 in spanish haha he isnt saying boi yeah lol
I was honestly surprised when I heard about this movie, I didn't know it was coming out a couple years ago. But then I saw it was on Netflix and I thought "I heard good things, let me see" and I loved this movie, great animation, great soundtrack and a multicast of villains that don't exactly step on each other but it all works fantastic... I would rewatch this over and over if it was the only movie available
I see Dreamworks went with the anime-style fight scenes! Well done!
That they cut the animation rate for the fights down to 15fps (which is pretty typical in anime) sells it that much more!
i didn't like that, makes no sense for a fencing saber or for the character.
3:22 Here comes the Grim Reaper
Here, Puss in Boots didn't defeat death. Rather, he only delayed the inevitable.
“That was weird” *Pew* 😂
The animation is actually insane. I've seen this movie so many times that this Puss vs Death is the one scene I need to watch
Dreamworks really created this masterpiece of a movie and then decided "Yeah, let's drop KFP 4"
It’s what they are, inconsistency is their game
I rate it 11 out of 10
11 out of 9*
Fear me. If you? Dare ! 4:45
This is gonna be fun. 4:48
The whistle key changing at the end was cold af
This movie just establishes that Death is a concept that WILL move as it pleases if it has to and if it wants to.
So no matter how powerful you are, even if you are an immortal, or a God. If Death so wishes it, it will come for you and it will win.
3:29. We can see that the wolf is literally through this wall that literally killed one of jack horners people 1:21. This indicates that the wolf is actually death itself in the movie and the wolf disappeared in those flames wich also is another indication 7:23
He also, like, tells Puss that he's Death? Did you watch the movie??
@@Whispurer Yes I watched the entire movie.
@@Agonyam then it's very clearly shown to everyone that he's Death. There's no speculation about it
The whistle is the most chilling yet amazing part of the movie. The unstoppable death lobo who although was terrifying wasn't really the villain was such great writing. This movie is great!
The animators cooked with this one.
0:22 a meme was born
1:08 me and my team when friendly fire is on
I love how they told death the look of penitence😮
5:58 unrelated but it reminds me of Ghost of Tsushima scene where Jin snaps a guandao spear in half
I bet, no one expected the sequel of a spin off would be THIS GOOD👍
🎉🎉99.7/100🎉🎉
That’s the coolest intro and quitting for a villain I have ever seen
Little vocal thing i noticed during the death fight: Death's voice is echoing but Puss' is not
noticed it too
Death is the most badas$ villian i swear
The most friendly someone can get in the traffic of Mexico 6:47
Love the 5:02-5:08 moment
Those hits are aiming for insta kill lol
My fav part 5:04
Bro, he literally fought death and lived to tell the tale. Hard to believe that with Shrek, he's relegated to a sidekick role lmao
This fight scene hits SO MUCH HARDER when you listen to 'the only thing I know for real' from metal gear solid rising revengance.
Not a meme, a genuine good feel.
