Wow, finally someone who speaks slowly and methodically, instead of racing through as if we're all computer literate. I wasted literally over an hour searching around for a tutorial to learn how to sell my Windows 10 computer, before finding this one! 10 mins. later I'm good to go. Subscribed!
Glad it helped!
@@TechDeals After it wipes the pc clean will you have to reinstall windows to where you need to put in the windows key or is it ready for the next owner to put in all their info & personal information?
Thank you, you know no one ever gives a honest and clear answer like you do. Step by step, no unnecessary cuts, scripted, and overall great quality!

Great presentation! Now my grandson will have an almost new computer to continue his virtual classes. Thanks for making the process simple and flawless.
I have accessed this in July 2020. I truly like the clarity of the instructor. Great video.
Sir,when we reset, the windows 10 will be uninstalled or not?

I have a cousin who is my go-to guy for all things computer related. He lives about an hour away and comes when I call. I really wanted not to bother him with this and your video did the trick! Thank you for making me feel as though I know what I am doing. You are easy to follow and give precise directions. I am happy to report a successful attempt at getting my pc ready for resale. Thank you, thank you, thank you. WIPEOUT!
TBH even being known as the tech guy or computer guy i still use UA-cam videos to learn how to fix stuff 🤣
@@FMJ1400 same lol
Thank you for anticipating our worries. I'm a nervous nelly and not tech-savvy, so every time I don't immediately see a response from the computer I'm supposed to see, I start panicking. I was glad when you said ( at 7.25 ) that the message "Restarting" ( or "resetting" ) might not come on immediately. A small detail, but things like that REALLY helps someone like me.
Also, the fact that I can long-press the power button to switch off at the end when I see that it's back to factory settings. Believe me, I'd probably have thought about doing that, but I wouldn't have trusted my own opinion. Many of these tutorials don't mention what happens right at The End. Thanks for this, it really helped.
try reinstalling windows by disk like i do sometimes it takes several minutes for that disk to start
The instructor did an "EXCELLENT" job of going through the steps and thoroughly explaining how to delete personal information, files, etc from my computer. Thank you very much!
We need more people to teach like this guy. Thank you for the help 👍🏽
your videos are too gewd. So informative. No bullshit.
Does anyone know if the method shown here in the video is essentially a Dban but with less passes over the hard drive?
his videos are so awsome i love his style so much

Dude , great video . Anybody can understand because you explained so nicely slow and all the way to the last detail . Awesome job , i learned so much watching your videos .
am actually glad this guy is getting tons of subs lately. great content with no bs. 👌

Well said, this has quickly become my favourite channel for tech! Straightforward and to the point, can't beat it.
Yeah! only 4 mins till the title video begins
I'm not trying to sell it I'm trying to remove the 200+ viruses I have got in a day
I think hes so low on subs because of how weird he looks
Wasted so many hours trying to follow other "reset" advice, Tech Deals made it painless! Did I mention painless? Thank you so much Tech Deals!
YaY, so happy to have watched. So much easier than calling a person that you're unable to understand, and most of the conversation goes like "would you like to give me permission to access your computer?". "Please click the yes button". 🙃
You are such a professional instructor. I mean that in a positive way. Perfect and to the point tutorial. Thanks!
I was worried I would have to bring my computer to someone to reset it. This is AMAZING
Your video helped with the very last step - holding the power key for 4 seconds or so to force power down at the Windows screen asking for language, Time Zone, etc. Other online guides I've seen don't mention this. Thanks very much for this useful tip. -Tim
Was helpful for me also. That alone was worth the watch.

I remember watching your videos 5 6 years ago and I somehow came back to them today. I don't even remember how to build a PC now even if I have done it a couple times in last 5 6 years.
Excellent, this was exactly what I was looking for. I just upgraded the family computer for Christmas and was wondering how to clean my hard drive before I recycled my 8-year-old PC. Now I can make a clean exit! Thank You!
I like how he explains it without making me feel stupid lol 😂👌 thanks for that
Exactly - I felt the same - it isn't the sort of thing one can just smell, is it. LOL :-)

Once again thank you so much!!
This is exactly what i was looking for. I knew that deleted files still exist until they are overwritten but i wasn't sure how to go about wiping the drive. This process is perfect. Thank yoy!!
when linus is shouting and screaming content at you, i come straight to tech deals for the same answer in a calm quiet no bullshit manner. only wish id subbed years ago.
Thank you for posting this easy-to-follow video! I've done this before w/ other computers both Windows-based & MacOS-based; however, it's not like buying new computers to replace older ones is something done very often due to their rising costs. This video information was an excellent, succinct review in crystal-clear language for all levels of tech folks. (And, believe me, I'm average when it comes tech knowledge & mental agility!) I particularly liked how the presentation was not given at lightning speed so one can easily take notes and/or follow along real-time on one's own computer while the video is running. Very clear and professional! Thank you very much, Tech Deals Guy! :-)
It breaks my heart that I am watching this. The sun will shine again. I will build another computer at another time.
Wonderful; thank you! I wish I watched this last night before I deleted files; uninstalled programs, etc. Now I know. Thanks very much.
Thank you for this tutorial. You speak very clearly and give great directions, perfect for beginners to follow along. Too many how to videos speak very fast and dont show half of what they are talking about.
So you have to write in a new activation key when you come to the ”setup windows” part?
If clear uncomplicated instruction is what you're after, then this is perfect. Fantastic information. Nice job!! 👍👍👍
Glad it was helpful!
Hey Brother! I just wanted to say Thank you so much for a clear and concise tutorial. It really helped me and took the indecision of whether to sell my PC with the hard drive or not.🙏
I love guides like this that deliver the information like it's for someone from the 1800's because frankly shits confusing and I need that level of hand holding.
Needed to clean my pc because I;m giving it to my nephew, this was exactly what I needed, cheers.
Thanks my dude. Giving my old gaming pc to my cousin for X-mas and wanted to know how to do this!
You are terrific: very clear, step-by-step guidance, easy to follow, and most effective. Thank you!
So so very helpful and dummy-proof guide! Now I feel comfortable to sell my Alienware 👏👏 thank you!!
Thank-you! This is BY FAR the most clear and helpful explanation of the effect of the Windows reset option that I have seen, both on UA-cam and anywhere on the Internet. I would suggest that as a public service you do a re-issue, even if the content is much the same, so that people in late 2021 and 2022 will have confidence that it is up to date, and so benefit from the exceptionally useful info you have provided.
this guys great! he talks simple and slow which is just what I need for myself (someone who sucks with computers)
Great video, I am ready to try this. A local computer repair store wants $130 to do this, so thank you for telling me in such clear language how to do it for free!
Thank you for explaining everything clearly and being extremely professional
very helpful information, I did what you showed/said and I was able to reset a computer for donation, thank you so very much!!!
December 2020 and this tutorial it's still useful :D
is this include SSD / Hard drive ? or only hard drive ? sorry im new
Excellent tutorial. You can skip the intro and jump to relevant info starting at 2:48, because if you want to wipe your drive, you already know how important it is to do that.
You are truly the best, always check all my questions. Im not a newbie but im not a pro either so there are details that people forget to say in tutorials, but not you. So thank you so much, because of ypu now I can sell my old PC and with your guides I built my current PC.
Yeah im the same way. Sometimes I just forget the difference between two of the options. Or I just can't remember one specific step of something I'm trying to do again
You think you know it until you go to do it and then you're like 50% sure lol.
Thank you so much! I had no idea how to get things done. You made the process so easy and simple for me!😊🙏
Thank you!! This was so helpful! I hate doing anything computer related but this video was so to the point and easy to follow that I had my laptop doing exactly what I needed it to do before I even finished watching. Much appreciated 😀
Hi I just stumbled upon this video, very informative! I do have one question though, my PC came with windows 8 when purchased and was later on upgraded to windows 10. If I were to reset the PC by wiping everything, when all done, does it come back with windows 8? Or 10? Thank you!!
i want to know the same thing LMAO, except my computer is windows 7 upgraded from windows vista
Thank you...came across this and was very helpful for my mom's computer getting to donate and get her new computer. 👌👍👍
Very good, I just bought a used pc and didn’t want any malicious programs or anything like that such as liabilities, so I just did this- hope that’s everything I need to worry about?!

Extremely useful information here. Another tip is to disconnect your lan cable before starting or you will be forced to create a Microsoft account.
I have to recycle my laptop tomorrow. Just did the process and its all set. I am so much at ease that all my data cannot be recovered by the new owner. Thank you so much Sir. Happy 2024 🎉

Great instructor! I do have a problem though. When I chose Remove Everything, this took me to another box that contains two options:
1. “Cloud download - download and reinstall Windows” or 2. Local reinstall - reinstall Windows from this device.“ I don’t want to reinstall Windows at all, do I? But if so, which option should I choose?
Excellent teaching. I needed to do this as I am giving away my old PC and was worried about information on the drive. Thank you for this great tutorial.
This is awesome, just what I needed. Thanks so much! :)
Thank you very much. I appreciate you sharing this information.

Excellent video. Now I know what I have to do to do away with worries when I sell my computer.
I didn't know about the reset feature and was very glad to learn as I want to donate a pretty good old computer. And this guys explains it like I have no idea what I'm doing, which isn't true, I'm pretty good with tech, but I still appreciated the clarity, simplicity, and repetitiveness of the presentation. I have two ancient PCs that I'm sure nobody would want, but the cases, keyboards, and maybe some interior components would be useful to somebody. I was thinking about removing the hard drives and the mother boards before placing the computers on the recycle electronics pile at our recycling center. Would that work to keep my personal data from being passed on or do I need to do more?

Dang it! Are you telling me that I’m not going to be able to sell my 10-year-old computer with windows XP on it?
Crap. Looks like I need to smash, bash, drill and blow up my hard drives.
Dave Anderson:
Use DBAN on USB or CD with many passes. Will take long, but will be safer. Or sell the PC without the storage drive, compact or sledgehammer it, and you're good to go.
almost 400k
Thank you for your help! So appreciated. No waffle, no wasted words, and now my laptop is on its way to being renewed!
I love this mans energy + way of talking!
WILL I LOSE MY PRODUCT KEY INFO
Arvind P no you will not. Your product key is registered through written within the the motherboard and they something almost completely different. You’ll be okay
3:13 ahh I have windows 7. Hence why I am getting a new pc (soon), but I assume I can just reformat drives?
Edit: When is starts to Windows again, isn't that Windows registered to you though?
Hi, I have a question, when i bought the computer it didnt come with windows, i install it myself. I want to format the PC the same way, without the windows installation auto start, can you tell me how can i do that ? I already try everything. I want the Pc just start to the bios, without even a windows installation
Mash the delete key when it starts up 😂

So easy to follow these step by step instructions for someone who isn’t very tech savvy.
I did this but it stops at 4% saying “there was a problem resetting your computer. No files have been removed” what can I do?

You Can Do it Again
Will you need a new Windows 10 activation Key after doing this?
FreezYApple I was wondering that too...
FreezYApple did you ever figure out if you need your activation key after
Just use the original activation key, if asked. If not, you've kicked a goal! (Sorry for using commas. I know you internet/web types don't like good English.)
Do you need the original activation key?
timon.keyet ik im late but windows usually has an extra copy so after done it should automatically still have windows 10
I'm so scared on my old Laptop (My HP one) I tried do this when it was done it came up with "Non-System disk or disk error replace and strike any key when ready" (It had like a place for DVD's) my new one has got a place for DVD's so I don't know what to do..
Sounds like it’s giving you and option to write your old data onto a disk so you can keep it or so that you can install a new os using a disk. Don’t take my word though and do some research on it since I’m a Linux user.
This is so informational. No filler, just great stuff.
I did it and it worked for me. I'm really not computer savvy and the short version is what I am using now. Thank You
Does this delete hardware drivers?
Does it mean people can still restore the drivers? I've heard that with some software, it's still possible to restore drivers which had been formated
All drivers will be erased.
@MrJones870 Bios operates independently from everything else, and is hardware level control. It can only be overwritten by administrator access in OS.
How would I do it but remove my windows key
Wipe your hard drive or ssd using the software provided by the manufacturer.
Will this work the same for windows 7?
Heya I need to do the same, did you get a reply for this? cheers xx
Thank you for this great info. I am going to sell my desktop and was trying to figure out how I could do this. You made this so easy for me.
Thank you sooo much, I was going to take my old laptop to someone to get it wiped but thanks to your instructions I was able to do it, once again thank you.
I bought a refurbished Windows tablet that was originally a Windows 8 tablet, but they upgraded it to Windows 10. I am returning the tablet to the seller, and I want to remove all of my files (not that I have a lot on there). I need it to stay Windows 10, not Windows 8. How do I do that?
In nearly the same situation as @FLT1979, so thanks for this answer @ActivatePG. Getting ready to move to a new computer and get rid of the old one, but it had Windows 8 on it originally and I made the free upgrade to Windows 10. Relieved to hear it won't reset back to Widows 8. Makes my job much easier.
Shawn B when you did this did you lose your windows ? I bought a pre built pc so I don’t know the key and I want to reset and sell it but don’t want to lose windows 10
So om Selling my pc, does this Mean the New owner gets my Windows license key or does he have to buy a key? Plz answer fast
doesn't need a new key, your old one will still be activated
I'm no expert but the windows license key gets stored on the motherboard inside the computer, it will work for him because he now would own the device with the windows key you originally bought it with. So you MIGHT have to buy a new windows key for your own computer (if you don't get a key with the computer purchase) so then the key gets registered to that device. BASICALLY when you sell the computer you ALSO sell the key.
I dont know. There's something about the man's teeth
he had a retainer from wearing braces probobly because once you get braces off you have to wear a perminant retainer except when your eating or brushing your teeth
Great video. I've gone through resets before but never noticed the clean drive selection.
Bravo! I'm watching this in late 2023. The info is still relevant. Thank you so much!
If I pick he second option will it delete windows 10?
No. Windows will be reinstalled
Jaylen L. No
It won't let me reset. It gives me an error message when I press "Remove Everything" saying "Could not find the recovery environment: insert your windows installation or recovery media and restart your pc with the media"
