It seems all too common that whenever we buy a new computer, the computer is so fast at first, but then eventually slows down over time. There are many reasons why your computer and windows might slow down, many of which are preventable and fixable. This video goes over the top 10 best ways to fix your slow computer and get it running new. This includes clearing out startup programs, checking for disk errors, and many more. 4:35 Number 4 really helped me fix my laptop's lag when I do anything on windows. I only kept "Show translucent selection rectangle" and "Smooth edges of screen fonts" checked and its good for me. Thanks for the helpful video 👍

Where in power setting do I turn on high performance I went in control panel but it didn’t show the option for that
@@Jo-zw1vu if your on windows 10 just tap your battery icon on the taskbar then a slider should pop up with high performance on one end and better battery life on one side
Disabling animations and changing the power settings dramatically improved my performance, thank you so much man.

not necessarily my dear friend. I run win 7 64 bit 2 GB RAM and the old Gateway is reasonably fast. The best you can do is not to allow just even one single and small file stored in your PC. instead use a USB. Reason why? your hard drive and your RAM will always be happy and feel so light so they will work reasonably faster. I keep all my info in three USB including working files, stupid videos and pics from cars, airplanes, etc. No chicks since my wife could go really mad. Back up? send to your self e mails with your info and storage the documents in it. simple and cheap. . I don't trust the cloud since I'm an old fart and that thing is kind of complicated to me. hope this will help. Kudos!

Back in the Win95 days, I had a neighbor clean up the files on his PC. He deleted EVERYthing that he did not know what it was. I laughed and laughed.

Tip: If you can’t disable a task and get denied to any type of permissions to edit the file, you can go to the control panel > programs > programs and features. It will let you uninstall anything without any type of border and then you can go back to the file explorer and delete the files.

Running an old Windows 10 laptop that is permanently plugged in to our bedroom TV via HDMI cord, and wireless keyboard and mouse so we can kick back across the room to view it's 1360cx768 output on our 50" TV. It is limited to 2 gigs ram and no way to add any more according to the owners manual. We just use it for basic email and maybe some UA-cam videos and that is about it, as it really struggles with even these basic tasks. The portion of your video on choosing a power plan really helped - there was no "performance plan" available so I had to go through all of the steps of creating a new user defined power plan, going into all the settings to maximize performance as best as this old thing is ever going to do... And so in the course of watching and pausing this video as required, this tired old email laptop is suddenly running far and away better than it has in a very long time, so here it is 3 years later and your video is still helping people. Thanks! :-)

This is honestly one of the most helpful videos I’ve seen on UA-cam. I’ve had my computer for almost 3 years now and would always install little games to kill time but eventually I started getting into pc games and I would just lose all patience when it started running slow halfway through my game and never knew why. Turns out all those little games I downloaded over the years were running in the background (some had a delayed startup) and were lagging my game big time! Thanks so much for your advice, I’ll make sure to take better care of my computer from now on!

Defragmenting your harddrive can significantly speed up the computer ;; simply type defrag in the startup and it should be the first thing that shows up.
This can help a LOT.

Putting it in the microwave an throwing said appliance off top floor of a high rise also fixes bad computers. Using high cliff edges just deeleets system32 which is bad so always use other method.

With boot up problems and some other issues, if you hit F8 just after POST and just before starting windows and choose 'Last Known Good Configuration" option, this will cause a cleaner boot up to a better previous load.

Cleaning the internals is a good place to start especially the fan, gills and grill. Also updating thermal paste would help.

Upgrade to an ssd if you haven’t already
if it's not the amount of startup programs, it's a sign that the HDD is dying, slow bootups and shutdowns, also defragmenting your drive can help if it's not worn out.

prawnz I use trash bin (it has this thing that detects if your hand is near it and if your hand is near the trash bin it opens)and it has a screen. so i managed to escape the detection screen and install windows 10. it quite slow
