Thank you! I have two ancient (by computer standards) laptops that have been sitting forever. I really appreciate how you explained everything clearly and simply without making me feel stupid 😅 I just subscribed. You are awesome!
I plugged in the usb I had both on the usb but when I boot from the usb it says not operating system found When I boot it normaly it shows that windows has crashed how is that fixed ?
I turned all my old computers into Best Buy recycling without removing the hard drive. Nobody told me not to, including Best Buy employees. How was I supposed to know? That's what I hate about the new technology. Nobody tells you anything.
Not to sound rude or degrading, but this is all common knowledge I feel for anyone owning any time of computer (phones, laptop, etc...) I would not trust a business to get rid of your devices even though they may be reputable.
Windows 10 has a option to wipe all the user data and zero the drive and keep the system data that should make it nearly impossible to recovery documents and data while still having a working os install. I’d you want to be sure you can follow a method to wipe the drive the. Reinstall the operating system.
I’d go with the reinstall path if possible. Many lapis have a restore partition that can restore the original os image. Otherwise I’d get a windows 7 install disk and install the drivers from the manufacturers website.
Hi I have a question. I have a laptop that’s still under warranty but has died. I have removed the SSD from it and backed it up to an external hard drive but now I need to send the laptop to the manufacture to be repaired with the SSD reinstalled into the laptop but before I reinstall it, I would like to know how I can wipe it so none of my data is on it, even though my laptop is dead, and will not turn on? Thanks for any help you can provide😊
System restore has an option that removes all non-windows system files, wipes the drive and then reinstalls a clean version of windows. This takes the computer back to the condition it was in when you first got it. That is what I would do.
The new windows install will have none of the data from the previous install, but there may be some data in the unused parts of the drive that could be recovered.
I ran autonuke, but I can't tell when it is completed. System has been running for about 20 hours. Lights on computer and on flashdrive are still on. Can I just pull flashdrive out of the laptop?
I’d guess after 20 hours it has done at least one wipe or has crashed. Either way it’s safe to reboot and remove the usb stick, and a forced power off won’t hurt anything.
Sorry I'm not very IT literate. I have an old laptop I used as a teenager, it died in 2017. I managed to get it to partially boot up last year and I wiped it. Iv since removed the hard drive. Is it safe for me to throw away the rest of the laptop (not hard drive)? Or could there be information stored in another part.
Long term data is stored on the HDD, short term data is stored on RAM which is wiped after each boot. As long as HDD is removed, the computer holds no valuable information.
I have completely cleaned my laptop of all data after I couldn't login because I forgot my password! Now don't know how to fix it I can now login but it's completely useless now how do I fix it 😢😢😢😢? PLEASE HELP ME
If this is a blank Windows install I would just reinstall to reset the password. If you want to keep the data there are many password reset tools that you can put on a usb and boot from that will allow you to reset the password stored on disk.
I have NO IDEA why this video popped up when I was looking for ways to repurpose the materials from the laptops. BUT I have to say this because it is reallllly bothering me. You have great information and you put across great. But, please! Put your reading behind the camera or on some notes in front of you because you looking at the ceiling has me so thrown off. Unless your blind. In that case, I would understand, but now the video is confusing.
There's ways to deliver constructive criticism, I would recommend trying a softer approach as that one came across a little abrupt It may not be the case here, but I have a friend who looks up when talking and it's an autistic trait. Appreciate that you are just trying to be helpful though which is a good thing ❤️
I need help desperately!!! Found my old dell Inspiron 6000, I can’t remember the admin password if I have to do a full reset I would mind to delete everything on it I just wanna have acces cuz I can play COMMANDOS lol
What os is the laptop running? Most versions of windows make it pretty easy to reset users passwords. There are a few tools to do this but I generally use chntpw in a kali Linux bootable usb.
Oops auto correct replaced os with is. Is this windows 7? Windows 10? Most password reset stuff with work with either but if you have a Microsoft account you likely need to reset the password through Microsoft.

Thanks for the video. Is there any safe method to remove all sensitive data but keep the operating system? Let say I want to sell my laptop.

Thank you! this was very helpful
What if it won’t turn on, how to avoid id theft?
Then you probably have to remove the drive physically and plug it into a different system to wipe it, or destroy it physically.

Will reinstall a new copy of windows fully wipe the drive if i deleted all the partition first and install a new window in a newly created partition?
The new windows install will have none of the data from the previous install, but there may be some data in the unused parts of the drive that could be recovered.
When do you know when clean all is finished?
Disk part will give a new line ready for another command when it’s done. You can also check task manager to see when the disk io has stopped.

Is personal data disappear for sure, if I take hard drive and smash it?? Because I want to donate
Doing a full wipe of a drive should be more than good enough for donating a drive.
Thank you!!!
