I like how in any sengoku media, only Naoe Kanetsugu has a very consistent theme of having an "Ai" kanji somewhere on his clothes/armor, same goes with others to a degree like Yukimura's sanada mon, Shingen fluffy helmet, Masamune crescent Helmet. Most of everyone else is kinda free game. Edit: lmao Sun Jian cosplaying as Masayuki. The resemblance is too much
The details you've mentioned were the most distinct things from the characters in real life. Masamune Date was known for being one-eyed and had a unique choice maidate which is his iconic Crescent Moon, Sanada Yukimura was the pride of the clan and the one who won a lot of battles and it's why he deserves to bear the mon of his clan. I don't know if the lion hair (it's called "Kuma" something in Japanese, I don't see the bear in the design or appearance) was actually a part of Shingen Takeda's very armor, there were red lions and white lions during the Meiji era so maybe they were inspired by Shingen's choice of helmet design.
With the direction Samurai Warriors seems to be going, we need another Sengoku Basara to wake Koei up in the weird clone filled slums it's in. I feel like Koei is at its strongest when it has competition. So I love both Musou and Basara because they encourage each other to bring out their best for the sake of trying to one up each other.

I like Warriors for the story and scale, but nothing beats Basara's mechanics, amazing combo possibilities, great selection of skills and flashy animations, plus it's so over the top it's just too cool (Date's horse having handle bars and exhaust pipes, his six swords, or Tadakatsu being a Sengoku-era mech for example)
The deal breaker for me is that SB doesn't get western localization (at least being translated to English) like in SW. I don't understand Japanese so I found It's really difficult to follow SB's story.
Not to mention the maps tend to have really nice objective variety. Killing all the dudes over that way is great, but, sometimes like, playing the game is fun too.
I am japanese, I like SW better overall, but in terms of action and moveset are SB like better. However, I don't like producers and some fans... Even though it is an imitation work, it is wrong to pick a fight with the original.

@@psychielstuffs presume it's because Capcom sued Koei because they patented the system which let SB2 and its expansion game to share content and save data between them: Koei used a similar system for their Warriors games on ps2, so Capcom pulled the trigger and iirc they even won the lawsuit, hence why you have things like Samurai Warriors 4-II instead of just an expansion like Xtreme Legends. Imo it really sucks because I wanted a crossover game :( But in regards to the fans? Personally I do not know anything at all about the Musou and Basara fandoms in Japan, aside that both have many female fans. Still, I can believe if it BASARA fans in Japan are petty, because in the west there is the opposite problem: Musou/Warriors fans hate on BASARA and call it a bad copy. Personally, I like Warriors but I far prefer Basara. However, I think it's stupid to pit the franchises against eachother. And like OP said it's wrong to pick a fight with the series and developer that started the genre... Capcom is just not a trustworthy company and they killed so many of their good IPs despite swimming in money :/ INCLUDING Basara, which now is relegated to cute merchandise for women, crossovers with real life sweet shops and crappy manga.
What make's the basara's Masamune looks cooler is he's voiced by Kazuya Nakai.He voiced a lot of sword-wielding character and the most famous one is Zoro from One Piece.Oh yeah both also wield multiple sword in once too
And he feels that is quite ironic for him voiced some of those charactar because he has some sort of aikhmofobia, fear of sharp thing like Knife, Axe, Nail(the one that get hit by the hammer) etc.
I like both game, they have their own plus minus anyway... if i want to play for the history and more serious story i'll plays SW, if i want to have full fun and more comedic story i'll play BSR

SW5 is basically a reboot of the franchise, starting from the rise of Nobunaga until his death at Honnoji incident. Most of the character got redesigned to be fit more into the rebooted game, including Ieyasu who during that time is still younger.
i'm going tbh, SW5 had some of the best designs but for chosokabe, katakura, and maeda... i think the basara variations are better i do like masamune date in basara more just for the fact he wields 6 swords vs a sword and an off hand pistol
I actually thing SB overall does a better job with Historical Fantasy than SW has been doing in a while. Both are fantasy but sometimes SW really seems to wish it wasn't.

But yeah, DW5 designs are nice. it's also a bit different because unlike the main/previous episodes (SW1-4) who take place when the characters (and war) are on their primes. SW5's settings take place in an earlier period, with characters being younger.
The saddest part is they butchered the character designs when transitioning from SW4 to SW5. I'm glad some of the cut characters from the roster don't have to suffer through that.
Sengoku basara is the most fun for me to play. Even with some reimaginations it is better to see through different story lines because at this point everyone knows how the real story was back then
Nah, the reception of SW 5 are good, even better than any other previous entry, even famitsu rate SW 5 as the highest. Spirit Sanada are great, no doubt about that, that's one of my favorite, but to thinks SW 5 ruining everything, i have to disagree.

Such a shame that SW5 knock it out of the park with their design but brought down by clone moveset that were tied to 15 weapons. There was no accomplishment or a joy of unlocking new characters when you know they gonna be a clone of characters you already have..

For me Samurai Warriors 5 made everyone look 10 times cooler and the artstyle adds a BIG factor to that cause it's fucking gorgeous and unique

Sengoku basara is the most fun for me to play. Even with some reimaginations it is better to see through different story lines because at this point everyone knows how the real story was back then

SW spirit of sanada is the best game for real but everything ruined by SW 5
Nah, the reception of SW 5 are good, even better than any other previous entry, even famitsu rate SW 5 as the highest. Spirit Sanada are great, no doubt about that, that's one of my favorite, but to thinks SW 5 ruining everything, i have to disagree.

I mean, they generally use same common elements these characters are famous for (like Masamune's crescent moon helmet or Keiji's armor general design direction) so no wonder

Such a shame that SW5 knock it out of the park with their design but brought down by clone moveset that were tied to 15 weapons. There was no accomplishment or a joy of unlocking new characters when you know they gonna be a clone of characters you already have..
