Honestly Yoshitatsu is SO underrated historically. He died 5 years after he killed his father yet somehow managed to thwart most of nobunaga's advances into mino during his administration. It wasnt until he died and was succeeded by tatsuoki that mino fell to nobunaga. If they actually made him into an actual competent leader who had actually been looked down upon by dosan, I think his character couldve been one of the most interesting characters in the game.
Still sad that Saito family was Unique Generic officers. Both of father and son have a unique character that deserve more than this. Notes : At first I read Tatsuoki as Tatsumaki. Well, Saito clan would unified the Japan since she Tornado everyone away from Battlefield 😅
Well historically nobunaga was not any better, in fact in reality he was a coward. He was basically prototype Hitler and when honnoji happened he committed suicide instead of facing death as a samurai Also historically mitsuhide was ruler for like three to five days and only claimed he killed nobunaga Hideyoshi never killed mitsuhide after honnoji, it is believed peasants killed mitsuhide, hideyoshi just took the credit But that is the point of these Games, they are fun what if stories and should not be taken seriously Also got to remember this SW is a reboot of sorts
I, as a Newbe to the Samurai Warriors Series have to say that I enjoyed this Game immensely. I understand that the Re-Designs aren't for everyone since the Portrayal is often in stark Contrast to how they were portrayed in previous Games, but in themselves, every Character was enjoyable and had something going for him/her, with the notable Exception of Toshimitsu whose Role is essentially also the "Loyal Follower/Friend"-Arc that is already filled by Toshiie and Tadakatsu minus the interesting Dynamic with another Character (Hanzo) or the Mystery of having disappeared at some Point and having been the one to bring Mitsuki away. In Terms of Weaponry, I have to say that I really liked the System in this Game and have to say that it worked much better than in other Mosou Games. Having Movesets be based on Weapons is logically and quite the good Thing for People who don't enjoy certain Movesets but still enjoy certain Characters who hafe that as their Main Moveset. If I wanna play as Hideyoshi, I can do so easily by simply chosing another Weapon I like better, at the cost of his two Individual Moves. Apropos, those are also a great Addition to the Game. They make it possible to have this weapon-based Moveset-System while still giving each Character an individual Touch, other Mosou Games did this far worse, in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, for Example, you'd end up with up to 9 Characters with the exact same Moveset save for the special Attack which ended up in an extremely repetetive Experience. This Game handled this much better. The Movesets are similar, yes, but you'll still have to work with Toshiie and Tadakatsu differently to archieve the same Result because of these two Attacks. I'd just like for Koei to lean more into it, they have the regular Attack String, Hyper Attacks, a Mounted Attack String, an Air Attack String and a Rush Attack String for every Character, but it doesn't ever feel like these are a distinct Part of the Character's Moveset and more like an Afterthought because basicly no Character but Sena makes Use of those. They tried with Katsuie, but it doesn't really work because of how unpolished mounted Attacks are in this Game compared to, say, Fire Emblem Warriors and Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes. This is also why the Spear Movesets lack Impact, because they are clearly designed to be strong on Horse or in the Air, but that doesn't come through. Apropos Things Koei should lean into more: If you do a Timeskip, do it properly. All Characters that are affected would have needed a 2nd Design too. It makes more Sense for Hideyoshi to still be depicted as a Teenager when facing aged-up Mitsuhide in the Battle for Nobunaga's Succession. Teenage Ieyasu next to 40-50ish-year old Nobunaga also made no Sense and kind of spoiled the Experience of the Story. If you do it, do it properly, Koei, you showed that you can with FEW: 3H, so...
Interesting tier list, it was fun to watch, I do not share the same opinion on a lot of your choices, especially Sena! But I appreciate to see the opinions of other people about this game's cast.
Older Nobunaga actually wielding katana, because also got unique animation. Also some characters probably should wield different weapons then they actually have, like Oichi wh I belive must use drums because 4th weapon Sakura drums. Also 4th weapon sikle skin like more fit for Hanzo and like for Sanday perfectly fits 4th dagger who look like wasp sting just for him.
if they had them age up everyone like the main 2 MC it would been cool, like make a Kid - Teen - Adult - Old Models for each and copy and paste for the future games 😅
Wow, pleasantly surprised by this video, subbed to your channel. Your voiceover work and editing are really good. And I love hearing fellow Musou fans talk about these games.
Whenever I looked back at Kessen 1 it was more like sequel while Kessen 3 was more of prequel towards Nobunaga Oda and his journey.. I'll need to get all the Samurai Warriors games but I do have the first game but I haven't finished it.
Spot on about Hanzo being the only one that feels like a ninja. I feel like as a bare minimum the movement should be tied to the character and not the weapon. Mitsuki would have been much cooler if she was super fast like Kunoichi was (And if she had a less annoying personality).
For me, SW5 is the best in the series. In terms of gameplay, story and characters. While a lot of my favorites got cut, I'm happy with the drection and hope it continues. I also want a Takeda vs Uesugi SW5-II game and then Hideyoshi's story for SW6. For the most part I agree, with a few differences. Noh is S tier as a character easily, even if the bow isn't all that exciting. Claws definitely don't fit her new design (although, maybe Sena) but one thing I thought would be interesting is a dagger moveset based on the cutscene. Yoshimoto and Shingen both got amazing portrayals although I do miss the feather fan. I could however see Masayuki return using the fan instead and wouldn't mind Shingen keeping the great spear in future. And if anything Ujizane would be a good add to play the bumbling fool that was Yoshimoto's previous character persona. Definitely agree with Motonari, Hisahide and Magoichi all being vastly improved. Mostly, I disagree with Toshiie. Usually he - and Katsuie - are nothing to me, and while Katsuie is as boring as before, Toshiie getting interactions with Nobunaga on such a friendship basis and being the introductor for Hideyoshi was fantastic. I do think I prefer this juvenile version of Oichi despite adoring the Wheels moveset. I'd kind have liked the ball and cup to return as it would fit her very well. The wheels should return at some point but as a different character. Sena is actually a higher standout for me with the Nobuyasu arc. She went from treating Ieyasu like a dog to really caring about him. And as said previously, I think Noh's former claws - or Koshosho's ribbon scarf - would fit her bossy diva persona going forward. Yoshikage getting a UNPC design was great and would love to see it expanded. The other disagreement for me is Katsuyori who I think would be a really solid character if he was a main character and not a UNPC with the generic spear. Finally, Terumoto definitely feels lackluster for now but I believe will be more relevant in a potential Hideyoshi-based title. My one gripe with the game purely is a lack of reverse stages. There are some of course, but I think a few more would have made it perfect; Takeda's Kawanakajima and Nagashino, Uesugi's Tetorigawa and Azai/Asakura's Kanegasaki and Anegawa. Would have rather had those as DLC instead of the irrelevant fictional stages. While I understand a lot of the cuts, I think Ranmaru being cut was random and would have helped the end-game somewhat, even if he no longer had the rivalry with Mitsuhide. I hope SW5 remains the base going forward. I don't think they should cut these characters going forward even if they're given less relevance. I'm sure however a Hideyoshi game would still have to tell important events like his recruitment, Okehazama, Inabayama, Nagashino and so forth. I think they could work on slowly returning some previously cut characters in time for when they're relevant (ie Aya/Masayuki in a Uesugi/Takeda title or Mitsunari/Nene in a Hideyoshi one) and also work to slowly declone some of these characters - particularly the more relevant ones like Kenshin and Shingen. Ultimately, my hope would be firstly a Takeda vs Uesugi vs Hojo vs Imagawa title to expand on the surrounding clans, and then a Hideyoshi title.
and then makes somebody quit the game after being forced to play as Nobunaga for 3 missions. Finally you get a chance to play something else, and you get this?
Personally I really didn't like how they killed Nouhime so early and made the middle part of the game all about Nobunaga being so revenge-obsessed. It dragged down his far-seeing visionary portrayal that always made him an S-rank in games like SW2. Like he's still S-rank due to all of his other traits and moveset, but man it's a close one. And it also means we lose on seeing Nouhime's reaction to seeing Nobunaga turn into the Demon King and her having some inner conflict on it. She was almost an S-tier character for me but she never gets the chance since she is killed off. I agree on Katsuie and Oichi really getting the short-end of the stick in multiple ways. Katsuie is supposed to be one of Nobunaga's most powerful and valued generals yet for half the game he's either missing, or anachronistically fighting against Nobunaga(SW5's Anegawa is a total mess.) Oichi is a little girl again but she's not even the assertive brat who tried to fix Nobunaga's ways like she was in SW1, it's like they took the worst parts of SW1 and SW2 Oichi for SW5. I'd rank Toshiie, Takakage, Hisahide, and Sena a lot higher. I thought they were all really interesting portrayals and for Toshiie in particular I love that he's basically Nobunaga's hype man for most of the game, and it's a shame he sorta disappears in the final chapters. For the guys you rank in I-tier, I agree on most of them. Like with Fujihide, Yoshitatsu, and Kazuuji, I feel like there was a much better related character they could have used who'd have more story potential. Insead of Fujihide they could have had Hosokawa Fujitaka, who'd have a much closer involvement with Mitsuhide's story and also would be involved in whatever Hideyoshi/Ieyasu plot happens in a sequel game. Instead of Yoshitatsu, use his son Tatsuoki instead, who'd still have all the same abrasive antagonism against Nobunaga and Nouhime, but would be around a lot longer as he'd be fighting as part of the anti-Nobunaga Coalition and was finally defeated for good with the Asakura. And then with Kazuuji, if they wanted a gun-toting ninja then Takigawa Kazumasu would work so much better and there's potential drama with Kazumasu rebelling against Hideyoshi later on. Nobuyuki isn't around long enough and they tried too hard to make him nice and likable and his death feels really weird, and I think they missed the mark with Yoshikage's and Yoshiaki's personalities. Motonobu and Dosan on the other hand I think were the perfect way to do a secondary character. I really, really want to like Shikanosuke but that damn golfer visor and haircut is so dumb it hurts. He feels too jokey of a character for someone who should be all business.
I thought this game was great, but lacked replay value more than most Warriors games. Thought this would be rectified with major dlc or xtreme legends but we got nothing. Story was pretty great, and some of the characters were majorly improved (Hanbei’s drum is great, and much better than his D tier old moveset). Fire emblem warriors three hopes also didn’t get much support post launch. Koei started to make me worry with both it and SW5 not being supported much but luckily DW origins got announced.
I just wonder if they'll keep these designs if we ever do get a sequel. Koei left this game hanging big time. Had to mod the game just to get the old Nobunaga/Mitsuhide outfits. Also, yes, the spear sucks. For me, not only does the range suck, but the baked in animations the characters do (Toshimitsu, Katsuie) after their moves just bogs down the combat pace for me, even if you have Attack Speed totally maxed out.
I really dig the art style and designs, but I kinda hope it stays isolated to this title alone haha. I wish they repressed more additional content and stages with this game post launch or did more with this entry to really make the most of the SW5 era art style
What if, they made each different games for each major clans, Takeda, Uesugi, Toyotomi, Tokugawa. Or, they could just focus on the three unifier, Nobunaga, Hideyoshi and Ieyasu story. They could simply make Hideyoshi and Ieyasu story as expansions for this game (well maybe switch can't handle dlcs of that size then just make them in different games). Honestly I love SW5 so much, well aside from the numerous clone movesets and lack of contents aside from the campaign, it's a breath of fresh air with new designs and new backstories for each characters. I would argue that many of the new playable officers are very unnecessary (seriously, Yasuke before Oda's other two generals? Then the emperor's body guard, that okabe guy, nobunaga's brother doesn't have to playable imo, that amago's general, kazuuji and mitsuki). But honestly I love the addition of Motonari's other sons, finally completing the Mori's Three Arrows, I just wish that the Hojo will get the same treatment, I hate the fact that only Ujiyasu's daughter is playable amongst Ujiyasu many sons. Honestly I don't mind if they cut some of the characters and try to improve on other aspects of the game. Oh and I guess they saw how well received Spirit of the Sanada is and then decided to make a game focus solely on the Oda.
Yasuke - Didier Drogba Nobunaga - Robert Garcia Sandayu - Lu Bu as Ninja (I betrayed everyone) Kanbei - Jia Chong still alive and well and move to Japan Mitsuhide - Arthas (Warcraft)
Hanbei is the only character who uses drums by default, so that makes him feel more unique in combat. Shikanosuke and Motonari had an interesting rivalry which I enjoyed seeing unfold. Yasuke was a cool and unexpected addition, and I'm hopeful they will do more with him since there was a scene showing him after Honnoji taking up Nobunaga's sword. Oichi's design in 5 is my favorite design for her, but I do kind of miss her more spunky/energetic personality from SW1, I like Katsuie's design way more as I always thought he looked too much like a barbarian and not enough like a commander in previous games. Ieyasu could have been an A, but the hairdo brings him down for me. Nagamasa's design is an improvement for me since I wasn't particularly fond of his big helmet in previous games. I was glad to see Yoshikage finally get a unique design, and I hope they do more with him in the future. Hisahide didn't really change much between 4 and 5, and I didn't enjoy him as much as the other cannon users. Sandayu had a cool design, but he felt too much like a stand-in for Kotaro Fuma to me with his role in the story. I thought Nobuyuki was okay, but I think they could have chosen one of Nobunaga's other siblings to fill the role and avoid confusion with the Sanada siblings. Dosan was cool, but I knew he wouldn't stay around very long. Katsuyori was kind of neat to see become playable in some capacity, and I personally enjoy the spear moveset a lot. Terumoto felt kind of underutilized compared to the other three Mori characters unfortunately. Overall, I would like all of these characters to return at some point with the exception of Yoshiaki and Fujihide who were by far the worst imo
After playing the “Nobunaga’s Ambition” games, I wish KOEI would lean more into those styles of character designs. . . SW5 felt like I was looking at a poor attempt at copying the Sengoku Basara anime style, but with less flavor. . .
Feel same here, also if sw5 theme is focusing on oda conquest they not added the most critical hero nagahide niwa and yoshinari mori and family. They are vital during oda conquest
This game was a fucking disappointment. Especially what they did to Nô and Shingen (Shoehorning him in against Nobunaga, whom he *never* fought, just to go "kagemusha haha", is an insult). Katsuie in particular got done very dirty. Yes, they made him handsome, but they also made him a perpetual traitor. And the endings too were a complete shit show. Especially Yamazaki.
I did actually like it as a Newbie, especially No who was found to still be a strong Personality despite first appearing weak-minded and kind of submissive.
Just got done with Nobunagas Campaign only to find out theres more to the story after over 36 f n hours of playin time 😬 I gotta beat this s h t so I can retire the PS4 and move on to the PS5 and Robocop!

Also got to remember this SW is a reboot of sorts
Not having Ranmaru was a huge miss
best adaptation of yoshimoto imagawa of all games. for me a SS tier
agreeeeeeed he’s so much more of a authority
Terumoto waa definitely just added because he will be critical in future entries. He was a very important official during Hideyoshi's era.
I’m definitely keen to see if they expand more on on Terumoto and the Mori in future titles

But I appreciate to see the opinions of other people about this game's cast.
Hattori Hanzo is literally Kiryu from Yakuza. SSS Tier.
Although I miss her claws, Ño is one of my favorites, that bow is so op, definitely one of my favorite move sets in the game.
Good tier list 🎉 I also appreciate your sense of humor 🤣
Older Nobunaga actually wielding katana, because also got unique animation. Also some characters probably should wield different weapons then they actually have, like Oichi wh I belive must use drums because 4th weapon Sakura drums. Also 4th weapon sikle skin like more fit for Hanzo and like for Sanday perfectly fits 4th dagger who look like wasp sting just for him.
I agree Hanzo was the best redesign. While I like his previous iterations, this is hands down the best and I hope Koei keeps it for future games.
if they had them age up everyone like the main 2 MC it would been cool, like make a Kid - Teen - Adult - Old Models for each and copy and paste for the future games 😅
This Shingen is the best with me , this version had described his mighty, not the old version, look weird
Wow, pleasantly surprised by this video, subbed to your channel. Your voiceover work and editing are really good. And I love hearing fellow Musou fans talk about these games.
4:05 Got a good laugh from me XD
Good one!

No is just a yes, no pun intended
Imagawa's been eating good thanks to SW5 and Nioh 2.
Spot on about Hanzo being the only one that feels like a ninja. I feel like as a bare minimum the movement should be tied to the character and not the weapon. Mitsuki would have been much cooler if she was super fast like Kunoichi was (And if she had a less annoying personality).

Can't believe theres 5 f n games in the series 😬 I don't got enough time to go through all of em.
Good tier, man
Poor Toshie, my favorite character. He was so cool and strong, on Samurai 2 and 4.
and then makes somebody quit the game after being forced to play as Nobunaga for 3 missions. Finally you get a chance to play something else, and you get this?
Having only 4 female characters made me really sad. Where my girls at??
Personally I really didn't like how they killed Nouhime so early and made the middle part of the game all about Nobunaga being so revenge-obsessed. It dragged down his far-seeing visionary portrayal that always made him an S-rank in games like SW2. Like he's still S-rank due to all of his other traits and moveset, but man it's a close one.

A rank: Hideyoshi, Toshimitsu, Sena, Mitsuki, Toshiie, Tadakatsu, Shingen, Kenshin, Takakage, Kanbei, Magoichi
B rank: Oichi, Katsuie, Ieyasu, Kazuuji, Nagamasa, Yoshikage
C rank: Hisahide, Sandayu, Motonobu, Yoshitatsu, Motoharu
D rank: Nobuyuki, Dosan, Katsuyori, Terumoto
F rank: Yoshiaki, Fujihide
Glad to see Magoichi in the A tier. He's been my favorite since the original SW.
The fact theres no Yukimura Sanada is the biggest disappointment.
He was the coverboy for 4 titles, isn't that more than enough? And SW5 story ends at Honnoji/Yamazaki, at which point Yukimura was 15.
Well, I think Koei can twisted anything and still works well like Liao Hua as Yellow Turbans Officers when he only 13!!! in ROTK series.
I love your take on the spear. I love it.
Thanks! Honestly it was driving me crazy in this game haha
I'm pleasantly surprised with the lack or Yasuke hate in these comments 🤗
Just got done with Nobunagas Campaign only to find out theres more to the story after over 36 f n hours of playin time 😬 I gotta beat this s h t so I can retire the PS4 and move on to the PS5 and Robocop!
Dzaddy Magoichi 🥵🥵🥵
I dont like kenshin in this game ,in the previous game he looks much better in the sw5 ha looks like kanetsugu naoe
SHINGEN!
the fan fucking sucked
Wow, they removed a lot of characters for S5.
They made Katsuie soooo sexy, but man the spear moveset for him just sucks. And having an EX attack on your mounted combo? Yuck.
Mitsuki and Yasuke belongs to F tier if there's one.
I never liked this it's some kind of BL sh#t
if its slow it sucks.
