    3.7L was a great and powerful engine back in the day. Compared to the modern forced induction motors, tuning a N/A motor is just going to be splitting hairs. I got almost 186k miles on my 09 g37x sedan. It's an excellent car to hoon around in. Stock power is still fun in most conditions

    I'm glad you made this video. I regret getting test pipes and tune, I "built" most of my exhaust myself so it was cheap. On the dyno my car did 302.5hp and 240.82tq stock, after tune did 315.37 and 257.58. So a gain of 12.87hp and 16.76tq. Not much at all but the graph looks a lot cleaner. Despite the small gains, it's never been as fast as it was stock. I ran a 4.76 0-60 before the tune and haven't seen less than a 4.8 since. I'm not even sure of what to think of the numbers anymore, I'm just tired of the VQ37. Also it doesn't help that my gas mileage is 13.6 average. My original goal was to shoot flames but then I started growing up and being scared of exhaust tickets.

    • @SpeedCultureStudios
      @SpeedCultureStudios  2 дні тому

      If it makes you feel better, 0-60 is not really a good indicator of performance improvement after a tune on the vq37. It’s not a stop light to stop light car because it’s not all that torquey. The gains are in those higher rpm and higher mph points. The improvements seem to come more on the 1/8 to 1/4 mile runs where you’re getting to use that peak power.

      I had a VQ37 for about 10 years and recently sold it and picked up a B58. The truth is just that the mileage sucks and the car isn't even *that* fun for the mpg. I can totally understand living with 10-15mpg in a Hellcat or Corvette, but not in something like this. My total average after 10 years was 17.6 mpg and that was driving like a grandma for the last 7 after I stopped going crazy with the car. The new B58 gets 20mpg+ when I drive like a madman and has so much more power. I'll always have a soft spot for Gs and Qs but if you're looking for performance, they just aren't it anymore!

    there’s plenty of avenues to building a car- budget, average, over the top. for example: straight pipe + alibaba test pipes, isr + berk test pipes, or a full Motordyne setup. waste of money is subjective to each person building their own car how they want to- either for looks, performance, drifting, etc. i don’t think tuning a 3.7 with some bolt ons is a waste of money, but there’s more efficient ways to make use of your money IF performance/speed is your goal and that would be boosting and skipping the “fbo tuned” phase.

    I think N/A cars just take a lot to go a little faster however I wouldn’t say it isn’t worth it. I have enjoyed every bit of gain and every step of the way in my G37x and I’m not even boosted yet. If you’re truly into cars you already know this isn’t a forgiving hobby. We have 100k cars competing in events paying out less than 10k every weekend and in my opinion the vq37vhr has way more potential than the vr30tt but that’s for another discussion. So I’d say start where you can, take the steps you can when you can and enjoy the journey or if you’re disciplined enough save up and do one big step but however you get to your final form…..enjoy all of it, that’s what makes it worth it.

    • @sleepy_ipl
      @sleepy_ipl 3 дні тому +1

      Test pipes will work with short tube headers.
      However your 2015 q50 already has the updated exhaust manifolds from factory compared to the previous year models. Going short tube headers is not worth it and you won't gain much power.
      Not to mention, header installation on the vq37 isn't a simple job like installing test pipes or cat-back exhaust. It can easily be a 5+ hour job if you've never done it before. Drivers side can be a nightmare. It's tight space to work in.
      Also the invidia exhaust is the worst performing exhaust you can buy for the 3.7.
      The inner diameter of the piping is narrow. Every other aftermarket exhaust for the 3.7 on the market is 2.5" piping minimum. The invidia is like 2.3"
