Thank you for sharing your experience. As a rural midwest reseller, I can tell there is no secrets for my sourcing - just pure luck. The mantra is -Be in the right place at the right time, and you might find a treasure. I also used to tell people that I was a reseller, and found out most people do not like us. Luckily, we have a local thrift store that sell flat price average 4$ a piece, no matter condition or tag or no tag. Also goodwill outlets aka Bins, is 40 min away, I go there once a week, never come home empty handed, the sell by weight, $1.59 per pound, and so my pile usually averages $2 apiece. Blessings.
It is absolutely a right place right time situation!! Many times I go in and only get one or two items, and sometimes nothing. But it seems like when I do score, I score pretty big!! I like the bins as well, but my closest one is an hour away and it's really small and way overcrowded. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!!

I often drive from the Dallas Fort Worth area out to the small towns for sourcing. I often find better items with better prices.

I don’t know why this video just came up for me. I’m subscribed for “All” videos.🤷♀️. But great advise! The only problem where I am ( and you are familiar with where I am) is so many people are snooty! I try to say something nice or funny and most people act like I’m not even standing there. It’s frustrating and embarrassing because I’m used to laughing and having a good time. My nickname all my life was Smiley. But I just feel like an outsider around people in my area and I’ve lived here since I was 13 years old. I’m about to be 62 now. I guess what I’m trying to say is I’ve got a really bad inferiority complex and I struggle around people I don’t know. Been this way all my life. I’m trying though. I pray about it often. So THIS is the video I have been waiting for.
I resell books and thrift stores are the main source of my merchandise.
I had casually noticed how I was getting better stuff at great prices from the small town thrifts vs city thrifts.
Do you think it boils down to a lack of competition from other resellers or does it also have to do with fewer shoppers, who are not resellers, buying the merch?
I think it's a little of all of it. Some of my smaller shops struggle with space to store all the donations for processing and getting put out for sale, especially of they don't move the merchandise pretty fast. I think that has a tendency to push prices down, which results in better deals for us as resellers. They can also be a little hit and miss at times which I think sometimes discourages other resellers from taking a chance with their sourcing time. Thanks for watching!!

Thrifting definitely is the way to go. I remember when i was younger, I could find popular toys like Nerf guns that would go for up to $30 if not more for as low as $3-5. Great tips, keep up the good work. 👍

The problem I have with small town thrift stores is the ones that I go to for the most part are way overpriced. Most of them are priced higher than Goodwill.
I completely stopped going to the one that used to be my favorite because they got crazy expensive. Last time I went there they had Walmart brand clothes priced twice as much as they are new at Walmart.
This definitely happens sometimes. One of mine has a habit of pricing some items a little too high as well, mostly from not understanding how to price comp on eBay. And also from not understanding the difference in the market between rural AL and eBay. Also, you might want to try exploring some new small towns in driving distance and see if you can find something better! I’ve got a couple of new areas I plan on looking into myself.
