There is a weird sport the UK military has (Royal Navy vs. the British Army) where they break down an artillery piece into smaller parts move it over an obstacle course, reassemble it, first to fire three rounds at the end wins.
"Field Gun Competition", apparently suspended between 1999 and 2010 but has been brought back by popular demand, also the Royal Air Force and Royal Marines are now included in the competition.
Yeah, When I was in Infantry Officer Advance Course we had four Japanese Officers attending and we tried this game for morning Physical Training. We didn't have enough people in my class for a real game so we had a cut down version. I noticed at the first schedule training only half the class attended. The rest went to sick call with injuries. I have to admit, I too was black and blue.

Essentially, it’s played during a school sports festival and only junior high school third-years boys participate, so we’re talking 14-to-15-year-old boys. Back in my highschool we actually played this game as part of the student council election campaign. Ofcourse with a bit of modification here and there like instead of 300 we got like 50 defender and 50 attacker only (its an easy job to find 100 bored HS kids), or instead of a pole we replace it with the candidate trying to make his/her campaign speech asap before the attackers do a superman charge at them, etc. Its actually fun and one of the most anticipated school event, idk why it got banned by the new principal. 😑
this looks like the japanese version of the U.S naval academies herndon climb for those of you who dont know what this is, its basically this: the U.S naval academy has a obelisk shaped monument on campus that is 21 feet high and each year there is a tradition where the midshipmen at the academy place an pleb hat on top of the monument and then they cover the monument with vegetable grease and the 1st year attendees (whomst are known as plebes) most climb the monument and take the hat off the top and replace it with a officers hat. (there not allowed to wear shoes nor use anything but their bare hands and feet to climb) (note- they all are climbing and trying to get the hat off the monument at once)

Back in my highschool we actually played this game as part of the student council election campaign. Ofcourse with a bit of modification here and there like instead of 300 we got like 50 defender and 50 attacker only (its an easy job to find 100 bored HS kids), or instead of a pole we replace it with the candidate trying to make his/her campaign speech asap before the attackers do a superman charge at them, etc. Its actually fun and one of the most anticipated school event, idk why it got banned by the new principal. 😑

this looks like the japanese version of the U.S naval academies herndon climb
for those of you who dont know what this is, its basically this:
the U.S naval academy has a obelisk shaped monument on campus that is 21 feet high and each year there is a tradition where the midshipmen at the academy place an pleb hat on top of the monument and then they cover the monument with vegetable grease and the 1st year attendees (whomst are known as plebes) most climb the monument and take the hat off the top and replace it with a officers hat. (there not allowed to wear shoes nor use anything but their bare hands and feet to climb) (note- they all are climbing and trying to get the hat off the monument at once)
Sounds about the same alright.
it's very different when you analyze it, I think the only thing that is similar is the fact that there are people climbing on each other
