Summer of 1972 and I was in Provincetown Mass with my girlfriend on vacation when I first heard Go All The Way on my little radio. Wow ! I heard the Beatles, Who, Small Faces and Beach Boys in that song but still with it's own signature. I bought all their albums over the years. One of my favorite bands.
RIP Eric Carmen.. The raspberries played a huge role in my musical journey. I was not alive when they were around but their influence on my songwriting is all there..especially as I got more into power pop which is now my favorite sub genre. He will be missed and yes The Raspberries should definitely be in the Rock Hall Of Fame!…
A huge fan of your musical career Eric Thank You for bringing great joy and happiness in your music for myself and many Your music will continue to live on R.I.P.
Raspberries were magic with melody - that was the key. Their melodies were catchy yet unique and often had well built-in dynamics that were unlike what anyone else was doing. In retrospect, the lyrics were a bit adolescent... but they'll always have a special place in my musical heart.
i discovered Eric’s solo work first before i found raspberries and i couldn’t believe he was once a hard rocker who played a huge part in the power pop genre what a talented individual Cleveland’s own Paul McCartney!
I came to learn about them the same way...for the longest time, you never really heard much about Raspberries. I'm glad to see that has changed over the years...such a great and influential band. Thanks for watching!
I loved this band when I was a kid. Constantly playing their records over n over again to learn the guitar parts. Overnight sensation, I wanna be with you, go all the way. Awesome music. 🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽🤟🏽
THIS is how you profile an influential, but often overlooked band like the Raspberries. Just enough information about their founding, career and aftermath. Relevant quotes from their contemporaries and admirers. Nothing about their personal lives. I have always felt that the online presenter's role was that of a curator, not an opinion-maker. Great job Bijan!
Thanks, Wilson, for your kind words! My hope with these videos is to expose these bands I love to our own little corner of the internet and let the music speak for itself. Thanks for watching!
Ecstacy, Tonight, On The Beach, If You Change Your Mind, I Reach For The Light.....a consistent catalogue of well crafted hooky melodic songs and they could really rock!!
As much as I Love the Raspberries, Badfinger was Recording Power Pop 3 Years earlier with their LP No Dice. I consider The Beatles, The Who, Badfinger, The Raspberries, Big Star, The Guess Who, Todd Rundgren and Cheap Trick as the Purveyors of Power Pop Music.
Totally agree...Badfinger has never gotten the credit they deserve. Such a great band. Putting the finishing touches on the Cheap Trick video right now, btw! Thanks for watching!
@@poprocksradio Side note. It's interesting to Me that the Beatles, McCartney mostly, didn't further explore Come And Get It for Abbey Road. I think it would've been a way better choice to record instead of Maxwell's Silver Hammer, which I cannot stand. They might've slowed it down a bit, put some Heavy Guitar and maybe some Synthesizer for an instrumental break and then back to the Did I Hear You Say.... part and then an instrumental ending. Badfinger did a great job with it, per Paul's instructions.
Not enough Material to make thee Hall of Fame. I do like Eric Carmen All By Myself. It's based on. Classical music by Rachmaninoff. The chorus is different. But the melody is clearly Classical music.
Great point about the volume of their material! My thought is that there is a Musical Influence award that would be perfect for them…Big Star, too. Thanks for watching!
They finally inducted Todd a couple years ago (waaaaaaaaaay late, if you ask me), and Big Star is long overdue, as well. Btw...next video is on Todd...love that guy! Thanks for watching!

There will never be another band like them.

Awesome band way ahead of their time.
Love The Raspberries😃❤️❤️
amazing band, as underrated as any band of all time. so good.
Thanks for watching!
@@poprocksradio just subscribed, will now watch the Badfinger episode. another underrated band
@@chriscollins7604 Awesome…thx! Hope you like that one!
Still have their albums all 4 of them. Plus 8 eric Carmen's
They should have been there a long Dam time ago
Amen…
i had the 45 of go all the way. i came close to blowing out my speakers
Great band with great songs. No, not a hit machine but should have been. They were as good or better than many of the bands that made it big.

Benjamin Orr dated Wally Bryson’s sister back in Cleveland.
Interesting! Ok...have to ask...how do you know this? :-)
@@poprocksradio It’s from the book “Let’s Go “ by Joe Miliken,a biography about Benjamin Orr. It came out in2018.
Ah! Will have to check it out...thanks!
They were on capital records just like the beatles.
No mention of Free? Just as influential and a bit more talented, I think.
Super talented, for sure. Paul Rodgers is easily one of the greatest vocalists in rock!
Free are a great band but In no way are they considered " Power Pop"!
Mott the Hoople, Al Stewart, Joe Jackson, and others. Super talented and yet largely unappreciated. Oh well.
I wouldn’t say more talented…as Eric Carmen was not only a phenomenal singer and songwriter but also a classically trained pianist.

Just remember when Wally Bryson punched out Eric Carmen.
I tried to Google some mention of that and found someone else claiming to have punched him out, as well. He must be a peach to work with! 😆
@@poprocksradio Carmen is not a pleasant chap, let’s put it that way. I liked Go All The Way, and own the 45, but I’m not interested in anything else.
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame isn't worthy of this band.
