A rousing, boisterous record with a number of tempo changes, led by a lesser known unsung 70s/80s sex symbol hottie - Eric Carmen. Rest In Peace brother, 'cause there's no surf in Cleveland.
This album reminds me of On the Border by the Eagles, which was in my opinion the Eagles' high water mark, and same for this lp. I guess also the production sounds similar or something? Plus the same year. All four Raspberries albums are superlative, but this one with new member Scott McCarl (taking over Eric Carmen's bass, who plays rhythm now) and drummer (Michael McBride) sounds different. Sounds as if the band was given a strong hit of inspiration and really swung for the bleachers. I think this, Starting Over, is their best record, though the previous three are marvelous pop rockers. Rose Colored Glasses is a other favorite, but these are all high quality. LOVE when this song starts to fade, then kicks into high gear for an explosive finale. Awesome band.
According to Wikipedia; John Lennon, a Raspberries fan, particularly liked "Overnight Sensation" and was present for part of the recording of the Starting Over album. Although un-credited, he is said to have assisted with the production of the song.
So long, Mr. Carmen. This was the last song I liked by you before you went mainstream yuppie, and it was a good tune. Now in your head hear the record play. Hear it play...
Please learn to read the description before you criticize...while the performance was a live show...it "CLEARLY STATES" (My "Stereo Studio Sound" Re-Edit) therefore...No Harm, No Foul!

Haven’t heard this since ‘74! RIP Eric!🙏🙏
The record Lindsey Buckingham still wishes he had made. RIP Eric.
My fave Raspberries tune!

Pop music Genius... Period...
There were some Keith Moon-like drums going on here! Driving that song to the top (or it should have been).
Какой он здесь юный❤

John lennon may have helped mix this song,,,

Eric Carmen was brilliant ….his songs didn’t get their due …Springsteen listened to the raspberries while he wrote the river record

Try Last Night from his 1975 solo album you might like it. It sounds like a Raspberries tune
@@tannerbartko1203 Based upon your suggestion, I'll do that. Thank you.
Ummm...this is the studio version, not "live"
