Prince's darker brother. Genius. What a voice. Straight from the heart.
antunivanovic well put lol
TOTALLY agree!!! An album that was way ahead of its time very underated and misunderstood by many. The fact that so many songs sound even BETTER now is proof of that.
This album was ahead of it's time. Such a shame as it had some brilliant songs but the critics and public dismissed it.
All Sananda / TTD albums are works of art and soul..I saw him live in '95 and he and his amazing band totally blew me away.
Dope song -- groundbreaking album, and way ahead of its time. Up there with Prince's "Sing "o the Times." Why people slept on this during the 80s, is still a mystery to me.
still sounding like a classic underatted album
How did he know that his songs would be reflecting my actual love life? I lived this song!
What a song the Guitar has steel the Drums are perfect he could mix it perfectly genres. Why this got ignored should could have been a huge hit at the pinnacle of 89.To be blessed and part of the greatest decade of all time never to forget miss it so much oh hail the 80s atmosphere could harp on and explain vibes and feelings like no other time or place in history
one of my favourite songs of all time.
2014! And it sounds great great album. Perharps it´s an album launched ahead of its time.
Yes -- I too am glad the higher res versions of the "Neither Fish nor Flesh" videos are finally making onto UA-cam.
Criminal how this got panned by critics.Loved the first and had to go on a holy grail to even hear bits of this before youtube...Glad you and staff uploaded this..Wife and I smiling with joy at the sweetness of voice and intelligent bi-tonal arrangement and accents..Cool cool cool :)
Never heard a stuff like that.genius!👏
Great song from a brilliant album.
Genius Master GOAT Sananda Maitreya. This song is pure FIRE!!! 🔥🌟🔥🌟🔥🌟🔥🌟🔥🌟
I've just realised in this right moment this was the album that changed my way of hearing the music, what's creation and what's production, what's art and what's a piece of crap... I even think that Sananda conditioned the music I would create lotta years later.
Wooow!!!
I don’t know why this album is not available for streaming. What an amazing song and video.
the only man you can mention in the same sentence as prince
is sananda maitreya ...... brilliant
WOW! I love this song/video. It is off the chain.
Nice one Sananda, remember it well. Shoiuld've been a monster hit.
F-in' awesome! This stuff is timeless
This is my mood right here 🌗🌚🌓
Genius
Omg!!!! Love Sananda
His music is totally awesome
This song and this album changed my life
The musical arrangement of this song - and also Sananda’s version of Under My Thumb - always reminded me of the band/concert scene in Apocalypse Now.
I loved this album!
An absolutely outstanding creative song and a fabulously awesome video! Thank-you, sir, and we send our love to you and the family from here in Frankfurt, Germany.
Hell yea, I saw him as TTD in Ottawa, March 19th 1989 was it? My birthday and I was front row. Awesome man.
That guy is an absolut genius.
Great song
This album is a masterpiece track by track.
Thé album was brilliant
brilliance
2020, fantástico! Adoro ❤️❤️❤️
If anyone could give Prince a run for his money, it'd be TTD for sure.
I had this album once upon a time. Lost it at some point. I bought it because I loved This Side of Love. Also because he's a fellow Piscean🤟😏
You mean his like, astrological sign is Pisces?
Miss everything about you TTD truly I do 😍💋💋😍😘such a big crush on you
Wow, he had facial hair. This has always been one of my favorites. I found that whole album to be very interesting.
I loved it then, and I love it even more 34 years later. A great song to blast while driving. TTD/SM is genius.
@koolvibe Much of the reason why NFNF got so little fan fare other than it being ambitious and nearly completely from his debut was because he was signed on the same label as Michael Jackson at the time. MJ and his promoters made it their point to cut Sananda's commerically successful career short. And to add insult to injury, the NFNF album would probably be a little more successful had he released it right before the change around when Sony bought Columbia, thus changing marketing forever.
This dude brought the ice cream trucks in at the end ongosh he was so funky and creative! This dude was getting all the nana at this time😉🤣🤣🤣(4:32)
& 0:09) dope, sad but loyal guitar intro is genius! It's like he was playing a different song be4 the video started🖤💯
It's cool to see R&B played on a Rickenbacker.
Progressive before progressive, alternative before alternative, that's why this album had not been understood .
grande sananda è grande è la tua musica
Great video. This is actually the best resolution that I've seen of it thus far. The images are clearer and not grainy like previous uplifts of the video on youtube. I hope there's more to come with interview and concert clips of the NFNF period.
Fantástico ❤
I always like Terence Trent D'arby. This song is interesting with a great beat!
That's my man
A pure homework !
Uwielbiam 🎶
BRILLIANT. VOODOO FINDS A HOME.
The wriggling witches and the swinging light bulb..that was the hook for a flash in the pan.
Terence Trent D'Arby
The title I choose for this video is "The darker side of love". interesting how Terence played with death without being restricted by the taboos in our present day paradigm. Close to Bowie's style.
And I almost got kicked out of my apartment from stomping so hard to this song.
I feel like I'm part of a very small subculture that 'gets' this, while so many fans and critics dismissed it outright due to it being completely from left field. It takes bravery to step into this kind of experimentation on a sophomore album and I hope Sananda still feels proud of it.
It's such a beautiful mix of psychedelia, sam cooke, and rock and roll I feel like I'm being transported into a David Lynch film.
I too completely “got” this album, when it first came out, still have the vinyl somewhere. Definitely regard this album as a wonderful piece of art, a true expression of musical exploration….
Nice effort, Terry!
Reminds me a bit of how Beck sounded seven or eight years later
Perform in London and I'll be there. It's hard to find where you're going to be. Yell us?
I think he only plays in Italy, where he lives.
Your explanation probably makes even more sense now that I've thought about it (the old rule about 'not having TWO roosters in the henhouse', lol). I mean Lenny Kravitz's debut was better received by comparison and it was just as far away from what was happening on the music scene then as 'NFNF' was! Now I can almost see why someone like Marc Anthony Thompson (aka Chocolate Genius) might've had trouble getting noticed on the Warner label when Prince was still top dog during that time...
Terence's 1st album sold 8 million copies in a year and a half! Lenny's 1st thru 4th albums combined didn't get near that. Terence refused the record industry's insistence that he make The Deal. He said no, so they chilled him. He is very luck as he told me in 1990 that instead chilled, that the hadn't killed him.
Sounds like Can!
I need to understand ... my innerself... neither fish Or Flesh ...Marvin G. SPIRIT OR?
didn't depeche mode rip this guitar riff and call it "policy of truth" ?
Billy don't fall about a gay man dying of aids based on the true story of the person he know. If the album made in the 90s 00s or 10s or 20s would not be out of place with the music landscape
Genius
