For those who like my review videos I'm glad you are enjoying them but you won't see anymore for a long time now as I'm an Early Childhood Educator and earn $40,000 per year for my job. I've spent $10,000 overall this year on tech stuff and really, that's a lot of money out of my wage to be spending on this stuff. I've got everything I want now but that doesn't mean there won't be new interesting videos on this channel. A few "OSFirstTimer Advanced" episodes will come up sometime is February next year so look forward to those. They involve getting my mum to go beyond the basic 5 tasks on onto some more tricky ones such as throwing her into Windows XP and getting her to find out which one out of 3 files are infected without infecting the computer. She will need to think logically on how to solve the task by finding a virus scanner and trying to scan each of the files individually. There will be a different advanced task each time each taking place in a different operating system made in a different year. She may even get a task such as "Destroy this operating system/make it unbootable" with a 90's operating system.
You don't need Antivirus for Windows 8 Windows Defender is an automatic pre-installed and is now antimalware don't use third parties it will slow down your new computer.
Here's why it was capped at 60FPS on Minecraft: You turned Vsync on. If you had it off, it'd get who knows how many frames. Plus, the Thinkstation S20 has a quadro. Very unstable for games. GTA IV probably didn't work because Titan Z is a dual card GPU. GTA IV never got support for those.
This is a dream PC. I saw one for 10K on Amazon that had two of the titan graphics cards and 20 tb of hard drive space plus 32 gb of RAM and 6 cores overclocked to 3.8 ghz. Imagine the games you could play on that.
When the Area 51's were first released in Australia, they did ship with a 15 amp power supply, and had a lot more video card configurations. (for example, you could have a 3 card setup, or dual titans (for a small fee)). Though I think now they have scaled back the video card availability (if you look now, you can only get 1x Titan, or 2x 980's or 780's), but it will have a standard 10 amp plug.
NewTovagulet Too many potential issues with hardware conflicts and the possibility of making something unstable that could easily break or overheat down the line. I wanted it to be simple, same and of good quality.

@LittleGaming Boy The answer is in SLI and in Crossfire the memory is mirrored. In other words both cards memory is loaded with the same information. So if you SLI two 1.5GB cards the frame buffer size is 1.5GB is is not additive. The performance increase is due to each GPU rendering alternate frames one after the other. In a game that uses SLI effectively, this can give you in excess of a 90% increase in performance. Generally performance scaling decreases with each additional GPU added.
Not an Alienware fan but I enjoy your enthusiasm. It always makes anything you make watchable. Could watch you review the sand on the beach and as long as it had the same level of pep and enthusiasm it'd be watchable tbh lol
Obviously I don't and the Alienware website in that case is very misleading. Look at this quote from the website which is an option when building the computer: "Dual NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX™ Titan Z graphics with 24GB total (2x 12GB) GDDR5 - NVIDIA SLI® Enabled" Notice it says "24GB total". For that reason I have been lead to believe that 2 graphics cards means that it doubles the amount of VRam.
A Titan Z is essentially two titan blacks with 6gb's together (this is advertised as 12gbs). Although you DO technically get 12gb's worth of ram from your graphics card, since the *same* textures are rolling through both, *you still only use the 6 gb's at most.* So even if you were to get dual titan z's, it'd be a waste because although you do get 24gb's, you only use 6 of them. Plus a lot of games have issues with SLI compatability, so getting a single, powerful graphics card would be better. It really sucks that graphics issues were an insanely negative factor to this review. So the bottom line is: For all of you watching this who aren't very tech savvy, the computer doesn't suck. The graphics card could've just been better.

The reason it says 3.00GHz instead of 4.00GHz is because Intel Turbo Boost kicks in when you are using lots of power, not all the time. It does not register in control panel/settings. You can check in the BIOS

I Remembered how jealous I was when I saw this video because of how insane his then new Alienware was while I was temporarily using a Dell Optiplex 780. Now I own the MSI Gaming laptop with Intel Core i7 9750h, RTX2060, and 32GB DDR4. But this year I’m going to build the AMD 16 cores workstation pc with RTX 3090 and 128GB DDR4/DDR5 so I guess my dream come true
Haha, that's cool to finally achieve your dream of a powerful computer :) I'm personally "time lagging" right now. I got a computer to replace the Alienware one in 2021 and it only cost half as much while being decently more powerful. 5 years from now I hope to do the same thing until eventually, each computer is costing me less than $500 while being tiny and handheld. I don't care about having the most powerful computer anymore, I just want each to be better than the last while getting cheaper and smaller each time :)
Really good video I kept watching it for an hour and realised how long it was I'm going to try and get one of the Area 51s but I have no money at all so I'm just checking it out before I save up. Exactly what video I was looking for helped a lot thanks :3
"I haven't typed on a normal keyboard for a while, so this does feel a little strange to me" I guess you could call the experience a bit... alien Okay okay I'm sorry.
Its a pretty good pc if you dont want the hassle of hunting for parts, but not for a 'real' gaming enthusiast. It has a very bland look whenyou take the cover off. But then again, alienware is known for its high spec builds. Bad part is they trade looks for performance in many areas.
OsFirstimer, There are 2 reasons why your fps was at 60 frames. 1. You have VSync on. It limits the fps too 6p fps. 2. Your monitors probably at 60 hz. Each frame is 1 hz. So that must limit your fps Also. Hope you know.
Brayden Tate yes i know that but what i was saying is that a 60hz monitor does not limit the amount of fps you get. if i were to get 200 fps in a game the 60hz moniter would not limit the fps but only limit the amount of fps that i am able to see, which is 60
The Benchmark part of this video made ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE. You used different scenarios between both computers and also made up the framerates yourself. Fraps HAS a benchmark feature which will log minimum, average and max fps.
Yes but I don't agree with using the fraps benchmark. The framerate changes depending on the direction you look so if I spent a minute looking in a certain direction more than another in fraps then the average framerate over the minute would be wrong. I spent around 3-10 minutes at each setting level (edited down heavily) to get what I felt was a real average fps rather than a potentially wrong one based on the fraps benchmark that doesn't judge the differences in framerate when looking in certain directions. My judgement may have been wrong but I would prefer my judgment over an average one that can easily be biased by looking in a certain movie.
OSFirstTimer That's why you run through the start of the a certain game like Far Cry 4 while doing the benchmarking, not a random moment. Also you just sound so uninformed. Especially when you're talking about that random shitty membrane keyboard and saying how good it is.
OSFirstTimer I'm super disappointed, I was expecting you to build your new pc yourself, not give more money to dell. =( Also, blame Ubisoft for the shitty fps on those games, they have been really terrible lately. With your gpu you could be getting 60+ on everything. Recording or not.
Vxsivi I'm not a hardware person myself and I'd be sure to stuff something up trying to build my own computer. The alienware also comes with 5 years of in-home tech support. They will come to my place and fix any issues free of charge with my computer for the next 5 years. That's brilliant tech support right there.
Vxsivi Sure, I get so many invites that I kind of forget to accept them lol. Just note that I don't have access to my alienware for the next month though.
Vxsivi If it weren't for people like Dell computer gaming wouldn't be as big as it is. Makes it easy for the basic user to get involved. So thank them.
Are you sure you enabled sli in the nvidia control panel those heaven bench marks look about half of what you should be getting. Also that graphics card is just two 6gb titan blacks in one card meant to be sli'ed. Though you have 12gb of total vram only 6gb is usable because in sli all textures are mirored on each card vram.
I just built a similar setup but opted for 8 512GB Samsung 840 SSDs in a RAID 10 setup using an LSI Megaraid 8xi... with 64GB DDR4 3000, I7 5960x overclocked to 4.5GHZ it screams and video editing on it is a dream! The LSI Megaraid is somethign else: costs about $650 but has a 12GB bandwidth pipe and Raid 10 (spanning with mirroring) is lightning... also the system uses the new 800GB Intel 750 PCIE SSD and that hauls but too!
OSFirstTimer It was well worth it. I was confused with the dates on Windows at first because I'm used to the American system. I figured it out though 😅
Sean Van Trieste Yea here way go day month year. From the smallest time frame to the largest. America has it weird going medium then small then large. Why not just have it in order?

*Edited to fix typo it still is unreasonable it is recommended for a RTX 2080 super to have a 650w PSU keep in mind this is not the power consumption of the card but the recommended wattage a 650w PSU will be good enough for a high end gaming PC that has a ryzen 9,2080 super 32GB of 3600mhz RAM you may even get a bit of overclocking from that a 750w PSU would be good for overclocking you don't need anything more then a 750w PSU especially considering graphics cards are getting more power efficient 1000w is a bit overkill 1500w is definitely overkill www.centrecom.com.au/gigabyte-geforce-rtx-2080-super-gaming-oc-8g-graphic-card

I hope you kept mining BTC pal, big gains as of now I imagine.
ah buddy for the games, you're only getting 60 fps because you have v sync on...you shold be getting bout 150+ lol
im so sure he didnt even install latest drivers
"I haven't typed on a normal keyboard for a while, so this does feel a little strange to me"
I guess you could call the experience a bit... alien
Okay okay I'm sorry.
"Supposed to be easier to carry" Yeah, easier to carry when you're not spaghetti-arms Phil over here
i came here 4 years later just to find this comment again
Listen guys, this is OSFirstTimer, not ChannelForPCMasterRaceFansToYellAt.
Yep...
And I'm here, watching this with a Celeron G530. I want a new PC.
Its a pretty good pc if you dont want the hassle of hunting for parts, but not for a 'real' gaming enthusiast. It has a very bland look whenyou take the cover off. But then again, alienware is known for its high spec builds. Bad part is they trade looks for performance in many areas.
I love the design
"first i go and open Internet Explorer (its amazing) at installing firefox"
hey Phil. hows the Alienware now? still fast? or slower?
This is my dream PC
GHz per second right? you really dont know what you're talking about do you?
OsFirstimer, There are 2 reasons why your fps was at 60 frames.
1. You have VSync on. It limits the fps too 6p fps.
2. Your monitors probably at 60 hz. Each frame is 1 hz. So that must limit your fps
Also.
Hope you know.
#2 i have a 60hz monitor but i still get over hundred fps on most of the games that i play
the hz is not linked in any way to the number of fps you get.
But Its s Many FPS You Can See,60Hz You Cabn Only See 60 FPS
Brayden Tate yes i know that but what i was saying is that a 60hz monitor does not limit the amount of fps you get. if i were to get 200 fps in a game the 60hz moniter would not limit the fps but only limit the amount of fps that i am able to see, which is 60
Thats What I Meant To Say
OSFirstTimer Nice video man! It showed a great example of the area 51 love your videos to! :)
i have watched this over 50 times
OSFirstTimer
That's why you run through the start of the a certain game like Far Cry 4 while doing the benchmarking, not a random moment.
Also you just sound so uninformed. Especially when you're talking about that random shitty membrane keyboard and saying how good it is.
OSFirstTimer You argue with something that's saves and calculated by a computer, dumb
OSFirstTimer You had 60 fps on the alien ware because you had v sync on.

1:15:46 me when i step on lego
Im watching this on my phone since it's the only device I have that has 1440p resolution
probably the most thorough review comparison video! big thumbs up man.
OSFirstTimer I'm super disappointed, I was expecting you to build your new pc yourself, not give more money to dell. =(
Also, blame Ubisoft for the shitty fps on those games, they have been really terrible lately.
Well, off topic butt could you accept me on steam? It'd be easier to talk this way, I have some tips as to why your FPS were tanking when recording.
Remember that I am running it 1440p ultra settings rather than the default settings that most people test it at.
Good point but you should still be getting more than that.
OSFirstTimer
A $1000 PC is more than capable of running 1440p ultra.
VRAM doesn't add up when you have another graphics card (in this case, a duel GPU card) so, he would sill have 6 gigs.
Philip: You're not supposed to use the oculus rift dk2 standing, so don't do this at home.
Me: Okay, I'll do it at school or my friend's house! 😉
I. Watched. The. Entire. Thing.
What did you think?
OSFirstTimer It was well worth it. I was confused with the dates on Windows at first because I'm used to the American system. I figured it out though 😅
Sean Van Trieste Yea here way go day month year. From the smallest time frame to the largest. America has it weird going medium then small then large. Why not just have it in order?
OSFirstTimer I have the same question. But I guess we're all used to it.
OSFirstTimer
Dislike!
Why not just build a custom built pc? That will be cheaper. maybe
Green Stick Too lazy
Green Stick good One cuz! he never build a pc! all he do is using a OS and making video!
@@squidwardtentacles9276 you don't know him well
@@squidwardtentacles9276 he is a programmer, runs windows 10 (which needs 5.1 gib ram btw), plays games, etc.
I'm watching this April 2018 and that still seems like a pretty awesome PC (except for Windows 8.1)
At least Windows 8.1 has a start button
He upgraded it to Windows 10 later on
Loved the unboxing man, you were obviously super stoked on this unboxing and computer, hope its all running well and you've earnt yourself a new subscriber :)
GUUUYS CALM DOWN !!!!!!!!!!!!! It's HIS purchase! If hes happy with it, then just shut up! (Sorry for that)
Umm i watched the entire video...
In depth, yet concise, loved the effort man!!
in 2017 you can build a pc with a gtx 1080ti 3 monitors intel i7 Plus other stuff for 4000$!
he uploaded this vid in 2014, no 1080ti back then
1500w is overkill m8
good
*Edited to fix typo
it still is unreasonable it is recommended for a RTX 2080 super to have a 650w PSU keep in mind this is not the power consumption of the card but the recommended wattage a 650w PSU will be good enough for a high end gaming PC that has a ryzen 9,2080 super 32GB of 3600mhz RAM you may even get a bit of overclocking from that a 750w PSU would be good for overclocking you don't need anything more then a 750w PSU especially considering graphics cards are getting more power efficient 1000w is a bit overkill 1500w is definitely overkill

Alright... We have a annoying Apple fan.
You forgot about fast startup being a new feature in Windows 8
' This is a pretty crazy experience to me ' - I bet you're a blast at parties! hahaha
That about reformatting a harddrive when chaning orientation is bullshit.
All you PC gamers raging in comments
I not a PC gamer
I do play on the PC but I don’t really play CSGO, COD etc, because my computer is, ok it just it can not play PUBG,
I normally play on Xbox soooooooooo, I not
Congratulations, fellow Alienware-Area-51-er! Enjoy your fine machine. I got my Area 51 back in 2008 and it's still working just fine every day. (So yes, I'm sure you'll be able to use yours for the next 8 years, as you planned.) Thx for the great vids.
Pfftt
Knute M Ha, good one.
On Alienware Minecraft Low you had VSync on, it limits to monitor framerate...
"Can't be plugged into a normal PowerPoint" LOLOLLLLLLLLLLLLL 1:27:02
whats wrong with that?
@@Mehhh because it's a joke.
@@Mehhh PowerPoint is a Microsoft slideshow editor and viewer. I think OSFirstTimer meant Power point not the slideshow viewer.
why do all foreigners under the age of 30 look like 12 year olds?
matt Foreigners where are you from
Everyone in this world is a Foreigner even you.
Yeah
Matt u fuckin dumb ass
+Frickshaw I remember a dumbass named matty. Coincidence?
41:48 your Vsync is on that will set the frame rate to your monitors refresh rate which is 60
I ordered the Alienware 17 r3 and I can't WAIT to play with the lighting
+Alex Schwartz what do you mean?
+Ben Dell i think he means did it arrive lol
oh yeah I did
+Ben Dell im going to order one in April when i get paid, but waiting is so difficult lol
try to focus on other stuff.
60fps in Far cry? I've seen $500 PC builds get that. This thing sucks for 3 grand!
I really doubt a $500 pc can play Far Cry 3 at 1440p on ultra and get 60 fps.
***** 60 in 1080p technically, but you get the point. It's not very impressive for 3 grand.
Cody Miller Your not very impressive.
***** I have a $500 PC, i can play Far Cry 3 1080p ultra 60 fps, i'm sure it can do 1440p
He probably has vsync on which limits your fps
But can it run pong?
Blackatic LOL
Blackatic LOL do you seriously think that 32GB Ram is enough for Pong?
lol no you think 32GB RAM would even want to render that?!
No
This person is so dumb, you need 256GB RAM for min 10fps
41:52 that's because you have V-Sync on
oh wow I'm in Aussie land and that phone ring tone is the same so i ran to it to see nothing then played a video went back and came back to realise it was the video LOL :) But good vid bud!!!
