What a transformation! I'd like to say thank you for sharing your ideas and ways of working, and posting such inspirational videos! I'm an artist and new convert to Annie Sloan and decoupage living in remotest Brittany, France, and the internet is one of the few ways I can connect with the outside world. I'll be trying out the techniques you've demonstrated in this video - and looking forward to watching many more, thanks again Patti, Diane.
+Diane Antone hello Diane! And welcome....I would love to see pictures of where you live. Sounds like you -like me- work from home a lot...the oddest part about making my videos (in the early days) was talking to myself. I was speaking to the viewers but as I work there are no viewers here so it felt quite odd to speak to an empty room, although it also made me giggle at times. It is my pleasure to share my work and thank you so much for your very kind words. What type of art do you do? I love the Annie Sloan paints. Beautiful colors and a lovely smooth finish. I'm working on this week's video tomorrow and Wednesday, you'll hear from me in a new video on Thursday. :) Patti
I have wanted to try resin for sometime, but was a little worried that I would not get it quite right. However, after watching this tutorial I feel quite confident in using your directions to make a beautiful project. Again, thanks so much for your outstanding tutorials.
You've done it again...another beautiful piece! I love that you used sheet music on this, and with the tea stain it just tops it off...literally! Lol And not only do I look forward to what you'll be making I also look forward to the opening of your videos. Two thumbs up! Lol!
Good Morning Patti This piece is stunning** love it and I love the knob you chose to go with it. I did the resin on our small rv dinette table, I used old vintage travel post cards. Don't you just love that stuff. Funny you did the small glitter vase at the end. When I was done with my project I used it to do two small vases also with fake flowers. Another awesome project Patti. Enjoy your day today, its raining here but I don't mind :) deezie
+Deneen Lotz Of course we did the same thing! Yes, I do love that stuff. I know it's not the easiest thing to work with but like anything -it will come after some practice. That's why I mentioned trying it on a small box first. I love your idea of the vintage postcards Deezie...I'll bet that's really pretty! Patti
That is very very cool. I'm fixing to cover some guitar amplifiers in normal rayon fabric and I wonder of Elmer's glue will provide a durable enough finish? I don't need it near as glossy. But wow that looks cool.
Hi ! I love your work. I was thinking to do the same on a desk, so it means that many things will be put on it, books and stuff. I thought I’d put a plexiglass panel on it to protect it, unless you tell me the resin will be solid enough to protect my desk, even if I write on it.
Thank you for this video. I am soon going to work on my coffee table and use tea stained papers. However, I do have a question about wetting the paper. What is the purpose of wetting the paper with water before you decoupaged it on the table? Thanks.
This is really beautiful. I'm a beginner crafter. I'll definitely practice the technique first. I'm worried that dust will settle on the resign before it can dry. Is that something I should worry about?
so pretty!! I've always wanted to decoupage with sheet music but since I play piano, it kind of hurts having to dip and glue sheet music. have to get over it because I'm definitely going to make something like this!
+Mariana Ayala Thank you Mariana. I know what you mean. I got this book so long ago and I was hesitating for that same reason. I don't play music but there's something about tearing up a good book! I did finally get over it because I had this vision for this table. Music is so important and I love the look of the notes. :) Patti
So beautiful!! I've actually got music sheet napkins but that wouldn't work as well would it? ps: I did one of the wetnap boxes. It's my first so I did butterflies, trying to decide if I'm selfishly keeping or sending to my girlfriend I made it for. Feel like the next will come out less wrinkly for her!
+rubymimosa I would think the music sheets would work-is it a thicker paper like scrap book paper? I know what you mean, I used to sell things in a boutique near my home and once in a while I couldn't bare to part with something. :) Patti
+Shirley Manuel thank you Shirley... :) LOL, the opening is part of my iMovie editing program, it's an option for High Adventure video's. This was kind of high adventure right? :) Patti
Patti, another beautiful project! I would love to give this a try when the weather get warmer here. Never have use resin before . First time for everything . Your left over resin you add glitter and pour it into a jar. Did you pour it out? Before you add your flowers to it . I am new to this!Tfs. Hugs, Vicki
+Vickie Murray Hi Vickie! yes, it's best when it's warmer out so this can be done outside, though if it's too humid it won't dry well so make sure you bring it into a room where it can dry undisturbed-I put mine in a spare room to de-gas with the door shut overnight. The resin stays in the jar and just hardens to a clear glittery looking water. (but it's very hard) I hope this helps Vickie, the flowers stay in the jar while it hardens. It takes a while to "set up" so you may need to wait a little while, like a half an hour for it to get thick, then you can stand the flower up. Patti
Thank you Patra! I have seen people add pearlized powders to them. *called Perfect Pearls) but I personally haven't experimented with that. If you search here on youtube you may be able to find something to guide you with that. :) Maybe "how to color 2 part resin." I have seen it done . :) Patti
This is very beautiful and inspiring. I'm going to attempt this technique for a friend and would be on a coffee table. So it's an area where drinks or warm dinner plates would be set down. I've not worked with resin before. I know it's always best to use coasters and placemats but if liquid gets on it will it leave a mark? If the warm plate is on it will it dull the shine? Sorry for the silly questions. I just want to be prepared for proper care. Thank you!!
patioelf yeah it's really inspired me I attempted something similar a few years back but wasn't happy with results now seeing this is know where I went wrong and what I should have done but didn't know about so I think next time I should get much better results I never knew about the epoxy and it really makes a huge difference. Won't be long my house is full of unique furniture 😉
Wow Sara, you are going to have a lot of fun with that 2 part epoxy. It gives the most rich deep finish. It's a bit of extra work but it's so worth it. Feel free to show my pictures of any of your work, I would love to see it! Patti
gives you an idea of how much resin you need to use to cover your surface, although now there are scales that allow you to measure that more accurately
+Jinoshio Sote The 2 part resin is expensive and it's hard to gauge how much you will need. If you use rice over the surface of your piece you will be able to tell aprox how much you'll need to use. :) Patti
Thank you for the tutorial. Learned a lot. You should start placing the music sheets from the center. It would look more pleasing to the eye. Place a cross-line in the middle and wor from there.
Wow, you really gave that table a new life. I've never seen anyone do resin...what an interesting process and a gorgeous result.

That’s really beautiful

The only thing I would add is to make sure is leveled while drying. I messed up a coaster by not making sure it was leveled! Great video! Thanks!
Wow....so beautiful
We love this! Any tips for doing a ten foot bar top? We think the arm rail will act as a drip guard.
Amazing professional finish. Love it but wary that so many products are needed.
Your intro gave me the idea of using old maps
Wow it’s wonderful !
pati estoy maravillada te ha quedado preciosa

Curious: what does the rice have anything to do with measuring out your top coat?

wow love it. can you also o this with family photos

+Lala Hastings thank you Lala!
Patti
que hermosura saludos desde Mexico
What would you use to keep the table top clean? (ie glass cleaner, furniture polish, etc)

Patti
How do you clean the fiam brush? Water or paint thiner? Or just trow it away?
Beautiful 😍
Can you put resin over Polycrylic? Just wondering?
What was the rice for?
Can I do this over a glass table?
Love this! Is the resin waterproof? Scratch resistant?
Is decoupage glue is PVA glue?
Love it!
Thank you!

+followyourdreams /artistic channel thank you so much. Bad cold this week -knew I would be coughing into microphone. :) I'll be back next week.

Did you not finish the rice part of the video? Why cover it in rice?
