How to Decoupage Furniture with Napkins a Table

  • This video is from several years ago when there weren't so many decoupage glues available. I highly suggest you try any of the newer NAPKIN DECOUPAGE glues like the one listed below. I don't ever use Mod-Podge anymore since it made the surface of this table look like plastic over the years. I was able to add a very matte finish over it thankfully. :) When you want to decoupage furniture - especially a table, it's much easier to use smaller sections of a napkin as opposed to using whole napkins and risking wrinkles bubbling or tears. Here are the links to purchase your supplies although the napkins were discontinued years ago.
    Blush Rose napkins amzn.to/2DyUu1D
    Napkin Decoupage glue amzn.to/37RhuXn
    Chalk paint amzn.to/35N9QeR
Top Coat/ Ultra Matte varnish amzn.to/2Y0TYmx
You can also visit me on Facebook "@ Patioelf where you can post some pictures of your decoupage projects! Love seeing those!

The decoupage scissors can also be bought at a garden store (Home Depot, etc). Those are the the same scissors used to clip flowers or in between delicate stems😊

I watched this video this morning while I was getting ready to go to church and something you said in it made me think :-) I don't know what your spiritual belief system is but I'm a christian and you said about how you love to find stuff that no one else wants ( junk in other words ) and work on them and to make them beautifull
And I thought ah! That's what JESUS did with me my life was in such a mess and he found me when no one else wanted me and has continued to

    • @patioelf

You sure can use regular scissors. The smaller scissors just make it a lot easier to get into small spots. You just have to be a bit more careful with the large scissors. They are called decoupage scissors in the craft store. 🌞

My mom does a lot of decoupage on cans, wooden jewelry boxes and I tried doing once but after gluing the napkins I started putting some glue over it (still glue wet) and it begun to tear apart and I said, " no way, this is not for me." I had really small shelves for my kitchen delivered yesterday and wanted them to be vintage or shabby chic style mixed with decoupage and after going through many videos I came across with yours and this is exactly what I want and the great idea of using the plastic instead of a paint brush like I used to is marvelous, fantastic! I loved this great idea. Thank you so much. Pleasant day.

I started to Decopage some small wooden box's I bought really cheap on eBay, and I really loved the finished product, and the beautiful results. I really enjoy Decopage because there is no end to the different patterns that you can produce with Decopage I have a few pieces of furniture that I'm ready to restore, I have learned a few handy tips from watching you work, which will make the finish of my project look even better. Your Finish result's are really Beautiful, I can't wait to see your next project. Regards Anne

I'm so glad I found this video! I've have my mom's little old sewing table for several years. Recently, she told me that it had also belonged to my grandmother and HER mother! So now, I've simply GOT TO refinish it! It's no beauty, pretty beat up, not valuable (except to my heritage), has about 20 layers of paint...so, decoupage is the way to go.

      Hi Jennifer!
You are actually a big inspiration to me! You post such amazing work on my face book page I'm always hoping that people know it's your work and not mine. You do a lot with furniture and you have a real talent for design! I was excited to find the old table, I loved the curved legs and I didn't even want to change the handle (hardware) on the drawer. Thanks Jennifer! I love hearing from you!
