Hey, just wanted to let everyone on here know that I just did this ground this evening and it completely fixed my issue. Starts up just fine now. Before, I would drive ten minutes home to work and my car wouldn't turn back over or if it did it barely turned over. Now it starts just fine. I have been through 3 starters, and already added ground from the starter to the chassis, took the paint off near the battery for a better connection, and cleaned all visible grounds, but this one fixed everything. Thanks!

I just bought a 2010 Camaro SS two weeks WITH THE SAME START UP!!! I’ve replaced the starter, crankshaft position sensor and nothing has worked!!!’ I’m going to advanced auto RIGHT NOW!! I’ll come back and edit my comment if it works or not (for me). Brb
Edit…. Dude.. THANK YOU!!!!!! This video helped me soooooo much I was about to sell this Camaro!!! It just needed the ground. You the goat for this man. I owe you my life!!!! Haha #ItWorked !!!!

I added a ground on the starter, on the back by the battery, and this one. I have never heard a 5th gen start so quickly before.

Did you have issues after upgrading tue starter? I had it upgraded to a 3hp starter but the fuses just kept getting popped when it was hot. Now I changed the crankshaft sensor and put back the oem starter and it just throws 2 crankshaft DTCs (P0335 P0336) now, and it misfires a lot.

Dude thank you for making this short & simple to follow video. Most don't show where to add the wire from point A to point B in great detail as you did. I assume it's been doing the job. I'm about to buy some ground cables right now. Thanks for the help bud!!!

Best video that I have found on how to fix this problem. Appreciate it man !!! Also in case it helps: in an other video a guy said that , in addition to this engine -to -body ground strap/cable, if you install an additional battery-to-body ground strap/cable it helps better to eliminate this issue. I will try both and see how it goes.

Great video, thank you for the detailed pictures. This fixed my hot start issue, also, go in the trunk and clean up the battery ground. Grind the contact point down to bare metal (it’s painted so you have to clean it down to bare metal)

Man I’ve been scratching my head on why mine has been doing this since my rebuild… battery or crank sensor or something I may of messed up on with the rebuild! Thank you for this video, I never would of thought about a ground wire at all!

Gen5DIY likes to use huge 1/0 gauge welding cable for their power cables. I went to Walmart and did it on a budget, for like $14 and some change. You might also want some sandpaper and something to clean off excess paint on the frame/chassis, to help set a proper ground.
Ended up getting two Everstart 20” ‘battery to starter’ power cables; they were 4-gauge. I ended up adding one to the negative battery terminal, in the trunk, to the frame/chassis. Then, I used the second 4-ga ‘battery to starter’ cable, just the same way in this video, seen here. The cables are 20” each, and should be just the right length.

After watching your video I got to thinking I had to clean the paint out from under the ground wire in the trunk which did help and I seen your video if you take the Bolt off on the ground wire behind the fuse box you will see paint underneath where the ground wire goes I clean that off and it fixed mine had my ground wire and everything ready to go used a steel brush on electric drill clean the paint off thanks for the video I wouldn't have figured that out without it

I have a 2011 SS2/RS with 33k miles on it. Parked and it never started again. Its been sitting for almost 2 years. I never had problems with it up till then. Have driven it from Texas to Ohio and back with no start problems a couple of times. After going through a lot of these videos I decided to do 2 things. Cleaned up and wired brushed all the battery terminals and trunk ground. Used dialectic grease on the ground bolt. Tried to fire it up and got nothing. I pulled the starter, put in a new oem and it fired right up. Either AC Delco is putting out junk parts or the heat coming off the pipe there is burning them up. Didn't need a new ground. Im guessing, they are packing them with crappy grease and putting on them crappy solenoids. The teeth on the starter looked fine and I could spin the gear by hand no problem.

Is it better to use 1/0 gauge ground wire one for engine block to chassis and another one from battery terminal to the body in the trunk or any one of it ? And does it reset any settings once i remove the negative battery terminal ?
