A beautiful Golden temple on the eastern side of the Tonle Sap River between Tonle Sap and Mekong Rivers. 15 Kms from central Phnom Penh, not only is located in a very peaceful riverside spot it also features quiet wonderful paintings and architectures. The outside is impressive with the decoration of the stairs in gold plus all the roof work of the façade is amazing.

Thank you for your kind words and support. We have a pagoda in the middle of Phnom Penh city named Wat Lanka. It's one of the oldest wats in the city founded around 1440 which derives its name from Sri Lanka. First established as a sanctuary for holy writings and a meeting place for Cambodian & Sri Lankan monks, the wat was name to honor these meetings. Its an absolutely beautiful and peaceful place. Last 2 years ago before covid on phcum ben day my family and I are going to this pagoda and the temple is very beautiful that it’s cover of gold.

Beautiful, peaceful religion. Hopefully the Cambodians will keep it alive, the Islamisation of Malaysia, Indonesia, Southern Thailand, the way minorities and women are being treated like second class citizens is such contrast to Buddhism which looks for inner peace and enlightenment. Hold onto this and don't dismantle the religious structures of society to give way for nefarious religions and cult like religions

How old is the temple?
Very old paintings are to be found on the wooden doors and window shutters of the main worshipping hall. Unfortunately couldn’t ascertain exactly how old they were. We tried to dig it's history but very little to be found.

wat Kean Kleang Or Kean Khleang?, in khmer language has no KLEANG word!
Thank you for your comment. May be the spelling have been lost in translation. But we have received it from the temple itself and all the other sources mentioned it as Kleang :)

Once you cross Japanese bridge and 7 kms further on NR6, you would find Wat Kean Kleang (Golden Temple) on your right side. Watch out for a small entrance gate also in gold. Highly recommend to visit in the morning or evening 😊
