I am an elderly American man who can no longer travel. Being able to experience your trip in this is very precious to me. Thank you for taking the time to make this video. 😊
I am an elderly Australian woman and although I am unable to visit Japan, I also enjoy being able to broaden my mind through this wonderful video. Especially I enjoyed the gardens, the explanations of the various foods, the decor and the narrative. Many thanks.
That bit about the unfinished wood carving really moved me. One of the reasons I love Japan so much is the dedication when it comes to honoring those who came before, and the respect of preserving one's legacy.
Same and it's easy to see why. But there is another side to that coin with Japan, as dedicated and honorific that they are to the core of their culture and the pillars people in it, they're also to the same extend unfair and cruel to those outside it who ever fell victim to it with no remorse whatsoever. Imperial Japan has committed horrific crimes where cruelty did not matter to innocent people who were not immigrant invading their culture or criminals but were on their path. Examples are Korean teenager women kidnapped in Korea from their families turn to forced sex slaves for the japanese army. Another is the handling of prisoners of war and pow camps. The massacre of civilians in Nanking with competitions published in domestic Japan newspaper about which Japanese beheaded the most number of civilians prisoners (not combatants). As good as some aspect of Japanese civilization is, there is always the equivalent as bad to balance it out.
@@judgem0rt1s23 I don't disagree. I think everything is in essence neutral but is made of positive and negative. Sometimes these can be very pronounced and only one side is expressed but the other and its equal potential is there unfortunately not applied to the same person/victim. Great footage ! Buddhist cuisine, authentic vegetarian food is really great. Aside from this temple of Nichiren sect, where people from Europe and America are experiencing Japanese Buddhism are as follows. For experiencing Japanese ‘Zen’, Eiheiji Temple, which is world’s most famous temple of Zen school, is recommended most. As for esoteric Vajrayana, Kongobuji Temple at Mt. Koyasan is the most prestigious (world heritage of course) in Japan and famous for being able to experience training
Greetings from a practicing Nichiren Buddhist in America! This was such a nice surprise to see this show up in my feed! I loved the nature surrounding the area & the river at the end. Thank you so much for sharing! Saved to my favorites! ☮️💜🙏
so incredibly well filmed, thank you so much. I must have been Japanese in a previous life- I was totally mesmerized and emotionally moved by this video. Not only the elegant 550 year old temple, but also just in general the gorgeous aesthetic of Japanese culture- the artistic and subtle way food is presented, the architecture and interior of buildings, the gardens, beautiful carp fish, (the red ones especially beautiful) and the Japanese writing all is so beautiful. I could go on and on. I guess I need to visit.
We in the West have so much we can learn from the Japanese people, it’s culture and it’s history! Thank you for that fascinating insight into their way of life, and their obvious love pride and respect they show towards their their Country!
I stayed there on 9/6/2023 and my friend and I had a great time. Zekou, Junko, and everyone else were so friendly. Junko even gave us a ride to the station when we were leaving town. Couple of things we did that aren't in this video are we borrowed electic bikes that are available at Kakurinbo and rode around town and we went to the top of Mt. Minobu. It was an incredible experience and great break from Tokyo before going to Kyoto. Highly recommend it.
This is by far my favourite video since you’ve begun! That’s saying a lot as I dearly love each of your adventures you share with us. Thank you SO much for this most sacred experience!! From a fan in Canada.
Zekou was so cool, the festival part had to be my favorite part! Thank you to the monks who allowed you to film the the Buddhist procession near the end of the video. Thank you so much for sharing this experience with us!
I can only dream of one day having a mature and Beautiful Japanese garden. I did have home once and tried to make a Japanese garden, it’s quite hard and very expensive too. I’m glad I watched this, if I do ever visit Japan I will certainly go here to rest and be at peace for a few days. Everything about the Japanese culture from its food to house to gardens and temples are so perfect and Beautiful. I really love the idea of the natural spring water in a clay ceramic bath tub. The last house you stated at, I could just sit by the windows and watch outdoors all day, so relaxing and peaceful with the serenity of the gardens.
Eh ...Wow... What a experience, how well filmed, felt like I almost was there. You look stunning in that kimono, SO beautiful , wish we could see your face. What sweet and nice people everywhere. Thanks for showing us your culture. Love and Light from Amsterdam, Holland, Europe, ✨🌷💞

Unbelievable dedication to maintaining high standards in every project you work on. Thank you so much for coming into my life and inspiring me so profoundly.
I love your travel videos, but I especially love your videos of temple stays -- something I want to experience myself in Japan. Your 3-day stay at Kakurinbo was wonderful: the inn, the temple, the meals, the natural setting. My favorite scenes are of the morning service at Kuonji Temple: the sound of the monks chanting, their spirituality, is so moving . . . Thank you for sharing this experience with all of us.
