Dont care if this is 6 years ago.. but I'm glad i found this and thank you!. Never expected the issue on my PS2 is the alignment of the 2 gears and it should be 12 oclock.. never thought that small thing is very important.. thank you once again.
Thanks you so much for your explanation. I recovered a PS2 SCPH-30004R calibrating the laser increased 50 ohm on the two potentiometers and now, after 4 years in coma, it's running again. Thank you so much. The laser is a HD7.
Thank You so much for this. You do know what you are talking about. Two extra notes for everyone: when adjusting the calibration of the screw in the left side of the laser, use your finger to turn up and down on the snake rotor (in the right side) to see if the little arm of the laser (the grey one, sticking out, bendable), doesn't "drag" as it moves up and down; it needs to slide smoothly as your finger rotates the snake. It's the only way to be sure that the calibration screw is putting it in the correct heigh/angle. After that, you can rotate the cogs to 11 or 12 o'clock without having to remove the metal part: that seems the be reason why your game will work but still be making the scratching noise, the cogs...
Mario E. I kept calibrating the height: too soft = won't read; too stiff = grinding noise. Again, in my situation, the games would read but the grinding was still there. The things i mentioned before are most likely for people with the same symptoms. The cleaning part is just as important. I just used a smooth cloth (the kind you wipe your glasses with), without any liquid. It wouldn't read DVD - 9 Dual Layer's (Gran Turismo 4), or PS1 cd's and now it reads them all. Mine is a HD 7 type laser from a 50003 of 2003.
I have had a big journey with my ps2 "phat". I got it from sitting in the closet for about 10 years. It played only ps1 games, some early ps2 games but no purple or newer ps2 games at all. I opened the ps2 and a little black part that had "47 10V" Written on it dropped out. I did not know where it had dropped from. Then i cleaned the ps2 everywhere. I also cleaned the laser, and showed pictures of every electronic board on the console to some of my friends. One of my friends actually found out where that piece had fallen from. It was from the disc drive. I am a beginner at sodering and that was really hard thing to do because the pieces are so small, but i think i got them sodered decently. Then i reassembled my ps2 phat. I tested it with a DVD movie, old and new ps2 game, ps1 game and a purple disc. It played every one of them, but at the start it kept giving a disturbing grinding noise, and i sometimes needed to restart the system multiple times or turn it sideways or something you know, classic playing around a bit. Then i watched this video. I cleaned the other laser, looked at the cog (Mine has 1), but that did not effect it. What seemd to make a difference was the screw adjusting the angle of the laser. It felt like it was a trading game. At looser setting other games would grind and not work, and others something else happened with other games. The cog setting was definately better at 11 for me. I spent 5 hours looking for the right screw height for the laser, and finally i think i found a good spot. No major grinding noises, games start every time after around 1-3 seconds of the browser menu appearing, but now ps1 games take the longest. This seems to be the best compromise tho. Thanks for this video :D !
I changed the Battery so that the time would stay correct in my ole FAT 1st year PS2.. The "rip-apart" video showed this guy taking all the ribbon cables out. I figured I could get the battery changed without removing any. I did it. Put the ole PS2 back together and it looked great.. I didn't load a Game. A few weeks later. I tried to load a game. Let me tell you, I really watched a bunch of videos and NO ONE mentioned the idea of moving the head back and turning it on to see it resets.. Mine did not.. Took it back apart and found the Ribbon cable on the DVD drive was not attached. Let me tell you, I cleaned the laser, adjusted it and did all the stuff everyone said, took hours, no luck.. But your video with that little mention to try that.. Fixed my problem.. Thanks for your help.. This is a great video.. Bookmark'n you my friend.. -Roy M
This video is a lifesaver! I took apart my PS2 to clean it and replace the battery and the disc drive wouldn't read discs after. This video helped show what I did incorrectly when putting the disc drive back together. Thanks!!!
Good that i found this video. Had problems with my old PS2 reading some Discs. Thought i have to change the laser, but adjusting the one white plastic gear in the back helped and now all games are reading perfect. I have the SCPH-39004.
Oh boy! backing off that little screw on the rail by just a touch and now I can read most of the PS2 games I have. This PS2 30001 (v4 mainboard w/ 400c laser) has been nagging me for months with the same problem. Two lasers and found this video - probably going to put the DVD pot back to the original reading. Going to check the rest of my original games and figure out if I can figure it out. I know this video is 5 years old; but thank you!
Thanks for the well made video. It solved a problem I had for years where blue discs and CD's for PS1's wouldn't read at all. Solution for me was simply tweaking the white cogs to point to 12 'o clock. To point out, I had lots of clicking going on before this fix and afterwards the clicking had entirely disappeared.
holy crap this video is perfect thank you mate. just got my ps2 running that ive been trying to get going for a few months. Absolutley amazing thanks so much ! :D
Really detailed video. One note is that you won't be able to see the laser dot on the disc if you use a CD for testing - these use an IR laser instead of the red laser used for DVDs.

I use my slim ps2 since 2004 and I never had problem and my fat one 2001 , laser problem and that why i’m here and I see many many fat ps2 with bad laser
Seriously thank you! Finally got to the point where I realized what the hel* is going on!! Also have a 50001 ps2, followed your video and I see it is reading CD (bluish-purple tinted discs no problem at all). The issue is with CDs (so the majority of ps2 discs lol) not focusing or reading those and freezing. Going to attempt the POT adjustment, maybe get a few more months out of it before having to replace the laser lol. ...thanks for the picture showing us which pot is which on the bottom of the laser. Haha, jk. Thank you tons for this video!!
So I picked up a 50001 model ps2 from ebay. I cleaned it thoroughly and replaced the battery. It plays ps1 games and the blue disc games with ease. The regular silver backed discs it sort of plays the intro... like on Silent Hill 2 the dude in the mirror.... except it just plays a .25 second at a time till it just just freezes. No error message or anything. I think with this video, I may be able to get it going on these disks. Thank you.
i did the romeo mod to my old scph-50001, installed a matrix infinity clone "modbo 4 v1.99" about 7-8 years ago and its still running backups just fine, also pot tweaking is safe after doing the romeo mod, it lowers the voltage to the LA6508 and keeps the IC from sending too much voltage to the laser
I think it's important to mention that there are many different versions of the PS2, including many different fat PS2s, so at least showing the SCPH-number should have been included. My SCPH-30004 (original EU release model), for example, looks completely different on the inside.
Hi man! Nicest video of PS2 Calibration on YT hands down. Do you know the pot values of Hd7 ? Please I can't find any value on the net! If you can tell me your values it will be awesome! Thanks in adv
Hello, very good video thanks ! My ps2 did not recognize any cd dvds. After settings, i can play with ps1 games, it runs audio cds, and recognize a ps2 disc instead of a dvd, but not read it... Do you think i continue settings or the lens is dead ? Thanks a lot, and sorry for my poor english
My system reads disc slow and if you put it up with a disc already in inserted it never goes to that immediately goes to the menu screen and you have to select browser to get it to read
Hi, great video, really helpful explanations. I'm pretty sure my PS2 laser (KHS-400C) is broken, and I am looking to buy a new one. Do you know where to get them?
Hi, I just replaced my lens, set the gears to 12 o'clock and made the screw lens horizontal. The DVD keeps spinning and said 'reading disk' but nothing happens. What can I try? Remember that a just both lens and removed the soldering
Hello my friend, My PS2 V4 FAT 30001-R reads perfectly PS2 DVD & DVD9 Games, also DVD Movies! All because i was able to calibrate it doing the angle adjustment, BUT now it wont play CD based games or PS2 CD games, Is there something I can do ? Thank you
Could you please help me? Issue: my PS2 reads games no problem in horizontal position expect it doesn't in vertical position (it does read CDs though). I need to place it vertically due to a lack of space in my apartment and can't leave it on the ground because of my cat. I have followed every steps and I still can't get it to work. My PS2 is a second hand SCPH 30004 R model with a KHS-400C laser inside. I think it's the original laser since the PS2 still had a warranty tab on it. After trying to adjust the torx screw that changes the pitch of the lens, I only managed to get games to play when the console sits vertically at roughly a 70 degree angle, so unfortunately it can’t be straight. I have also checked the potentiometer at the back of the laser and went as low as 640 ohms but I’m scared to go lower. I ended up buying a replacement but it doesn’t work. Any idea?
The problem I have is that my PS2 (fat) doesn't read blue discs (and one silver for some reason, although it was fine. Both discs don't suffer any damage).Should I just clean the laser with some alcohol or calibrate it?
Well,I calibrated the laser's position (up/down) and it works fine (it only needed one click to the left). That one silver disc still doesn't play but oh well,I'll probably play it on an emulator. The problem I'm facing now is that everytime it's reading a disc,it makes alot of noise (I think the cover of the disc tray is to be blamed) and I have to put some weight on it so it will stop.Other than that,my near 20 years PS2 works perfectly.
Mine had a bad worm I fixed that after that it worked for a few minutes then the laser started to make focusing problems Now it doesn't read and it doesn't focus Tried to adjust pots and nope Cleaned the laser and nope too Any ideas ?
David Piçarra if it started rapidly degrading it's probably time to replace it, it's not the first time I've seen a system with multiple faults , if the new laser still doesn't track the disc properly it could be the drive (LA-6508) especially if it's a scph-500x console
Hey great video. I've replaced the laser in my 50001 and still have issues. Do you by chance have a picture of the part you mentions? the IRC i believe you called it.
Model 3000 with a V type laser (the one you cleaned the second lense on.) the laser activated for a secon upon spinup and then never turns back on while it spins the disc.
My ps2 fat makes a strange noise the first time I put a disc on like the motor try’s to spin the disc with difficulty. After couple seconds it stops and then it starts again on full speed and boots the game. It’s a strange issue I can’t figure out.
How can I tell which model PS2 I have? I have the single cog at the back, and that thing black laser covering is removable by just popping out the corners.
Hello I have the same console and I don't know how to set up with those two white gears up there. The laser is correct because I tried it on another console. I don't know how to adjust those two upper white gears. no matter how I set them, it loads the original disc and always says This disc cannot be played. how do i set them to work normally. i tried it on another console that has different mechanics and it works fine there. can you even draw how to place those two gears?
Hi I have a slim model and it has trouble reading disks. It sits at the browser menu when the disk is in but if I press down on the upper left corner of the console it begins making sounds and then runs the game. To me this doesn't seem healthy for the PS2 so do you have any ideas what the issue might be?
I have two of the same models and have noticed the same exact thing you described. If I hold it in a certain spot in that corner you mentioned it has no problem most times.
Hello, I have a ps2 39003 fat model which the new laser I have installed only plays cds dvds and silver backed games but not blue backed games. The laser is a khs-400r HD7 laser and I was wondering how I fix this issue please 🙏
My ps2 wasn't reading some dvds so I tried to increase the potentiometer, but I believe I went too hard on it and didn't turn the little screw with caution, and maybe lowered the resistance too much in one go? I don't know but now the disc spins very very slow and with fatigue, could that be it? I tried getting the potentiometer back to normal state but the damage seem to be done :(
11:00 I am trying to get one to read a blue disc (reads dvd fine). the trouble was that it wasnt spinning when a blue or ps1 disc was inserted, i adjusted the screw clockwise a little and the disc spins at it should! but it wont go passed the browser menu :(
I recently bought a new laser unit and messed with the pot adjustment without researching it more. Would you happen to know what the default position on a KHS-400C laser for the pots would be? I need it to be set to default but I don't remember what it was originally set as.
There is no default it is set by the factory so each laser is different, I would start at the highest resistance and slowly turn it down by 50-100ohms and test it till it works , dont go too low tho.
I noticed my spindle isn't as smooth as yours when the disc spins, any idea what might make it wobble slightly? not sure how big of a problem that is, just something I noticed.
Recall GOOD määäään !! Good clear instructions.!! Maybe i need do it now... . I played aa DVD film. Now it doesn't read att all ! . ) OR maybe i still got Guaranty at my 2nd Hand store....) ANYWAY i can now clean myself. And check Calibration! GREAT JOB , 😍 👌🤘 Cirtiee sthlm
not sure if you might reply to this, but what if it only spins once and stops, is this an indicator of a problem with the lense cuz its not detecting it or it has to do with the rotating piece?
i guess its the bad lens its old and the image also looks black and white, great video tho, seems it solved many peoples problems with their lenses, in my case, i still gotta get another one it seems XD thanks for the feedback
My ps2 phat never had any cover on it and it was like this from the factory. I just cracked mine open to clean it and it does not have any black cover.
That's a very odd combination, normally duel layer PS2 games are harder to read and they fail first , have you checked that the motor didn't get any dust in it, if it's fine it could be some odd laser behaviour, their fairly cheap now to replace but on slimlines I recommend replacing the entire mechanism it's only about $5 more but you get new things :)
Let's say hypothetically it doesn't even bother spinning the disc when it's loaded into the tray. What would be the issue then? I ask because I just got as laser, didnt mess with the potentiometer and all I got were CD games working. Tried swapping my OG lasser back thinking "Maybe it was just out of calibration and the OG laser might work. Don't see the laser on either of them now. Im thinking maybe it's the controller as mentioned towards the end but I dont see any tutorials on how to fi/replace that. Help is much appreciated. Thank you
If it constantly wiggles its most likely the laser coils that got damaged, if your lucky replacing the lens and coil assembly on the laser will fix it, but there is a chance that the coils got damaged due to the LA or BA IC blowing, this depends on the model tho, can you post the SCPH model number for me?
I set the dials at twelve o'clock and still not reading anything. I initially took it apart to solve the rattling sound. The games were fine before this but started freezing sometimes and PS2 would rattle. I fixed the rattling and now it won't read anything
Hey, I have a peculiar problem with my console. Whenever I start it up with a disc inside it will say that the disc can't be read (red screen and the disc stops spinning), however if I take out the disc and then in again while the system is on it will read it. Could this also be a calibration issue? Thanks for the video btw. really good documentation!
That sounds like a calibration or laser issue, the first stage of reading a disc is verifying if it's genuine or not, if it can't very it you get the red screen. Start with a good clean, then calibration and if both fails replace the laser. Some early modchips also had this issue.
Hello. Bought the 400c laser recently for my 5000 console. It hadn't the balancing screw (the one on the left rail). I didn't manage to make it read discs. But I tried to rotate both the white cogs and the screw on the rail. The laser's behaviour was different but with no luck. Can you give some advice on how to start the calibration process properly?
you can help me please ... ?? i have the ps2 fat model ... is modded i tried to play playstation 1 disc i have download and burned it from Internet ... annd say the message "insert disc" with a black screen and nothing ... i extrach the disc and doit again and then say reading disc and nothing ... with a white screen and memory cards ... i clean the laser and nothing ... the discs from ps2 original and the copies working correctly only for ps1 dont work ... you can please tell me what i can do ?? i am 3 days to trying and nothing please help me .... ( sorry for my english ) my model is SCPH-30004 R japan i bye it 2001 if i remember from GREECE ....
i accidentally unplugged the on/off wire from the console while dismantling it. i tried plugging it back but it will come out very easily, do i have to glue it back?
chillyourself the ribbon cable should just slide in, you don't need glue :) If it doesn't , have a look if the blue plastic strip is still there sometimes it falls off or tears , when that happens you need to replace it
Hi let me know what this the number on the side of the laser is this the correct calibration number here is on the label next to the laser here is the example D547 C656
I bought a new laser for the FAT console. How Much Resistance Should There Be to DVDs and How Much to CDs for the Laser to Read Games Normally? Can I settle in with an unimer? Laser is KHS400C
There is no exact pot value for lasers , it depends on the diode and will get calibrated by the seller, I would suggest just dropping it in (desoldering the antistatic tab) and testing it , check DVDs and CDs chances are they will work fine if the rest of the calibration is correct , if not drop either the CD or DVD pot by 10-20ohms till it works (if both doesn't work when you fit it, there is something else wrong)
@@FaSMaN I moved both potentiometers (DVD and CD) and displaced the laser. I don't know what values to return and how to calibrate? When I bought a new laser it didn't work at all and so it is with every laser I buy. Each laser needs calibration and works fine afterwards.
@@FaSMaN I know that without the oscilloscope it can be adjusted with resistance, but I don't know what the values are. Is there any way of spinning without removing the laser all the time for each particular spin?
Hello, I need your help @HPZeta . On my PS2 all games in DVD media work perfectly but games in CD (only tested PS1, no PS2 blue discs) start spinning, the laser starts reading, but then nothing happens and the cd always keeps accelerating for a sec and then lets the disc spin for another 2, and speeds up again a bit and releases again... and remains like this forever. (I hear the motor going weeeeeeew... pause... weeeeeew... pause... etc) What's happening? Thank you
+gtheskater that sounds like the CD side of the pot needs adjusting , clean the laser first then try and drop the pot 50ohms at a time and no more than 200ohms total
+Malinoislover1 Forlife you need to open it up it will either be a C-type or a R-type laser the model will be on the side of the laser and you can purchase replacements from aliexpress
@@FaSMaN Be sure you choose the matching laser type - they are not compatible with each other without reflashing the system board with specialised Sony software.
Normally its one of three things: 1. The laser arm is not making contact with the snake motor (check for wear and tear, and check if its not pushing too hard) 2. The snake motor could be damaged. (Replace it) 3. Check the fuses on the motherboard. (check for continuity) Thats normally where I would start.
@@FaSMaN Just installed a NEW 400c laser in my 50001. It won't read DVD disc, but does read blues and CDs, just like the old one. Do I have a board or other hardware problem?
@@uglytruthist9914 very odd indeed , can you send me a photo of what the current calibration looks like to twitter @fasmanza or even a video of what the system does when you power it up?
@@FaSMaN Just lubricated the rails and motor worm gear with white lithium grease. Both were quite dry. Tried both lasers, cleaned the old one, and tried both with laser gears set to 11 and 12 o'clock. Same result. Any ideas? I'm desperate. Thanks.
I changed the laser on my PS2 and then the disc wouldn't even spin - not even a twitch! As though it is not even seeking to detect a disc. I put the old laser back in, it didnt work either. The worst of it is the laser hadn't even died yet - it was just getting super slow to pick up the disc so I thought I would be preemptive. Regret.......
Does it really have to be alcohol? We don't have that at home... And well, I've tried many ways to fix the PS2's disk reading error via youtube, nothing seemed to work. Would be nice if you have a solution for this.
Check the comments down below, I listed a few alternatives already :) Window cleaner also works , spray some into a cup and dip your cotton swab/bud into it. DO NOT SPRAY IT ON THE LASER.
hello, good video, I 'm Mexican and I have a priblema with my ps2, what happens is that I am calibrating the dvd, but not what is the optimal value to calibrate thanks

My SCPH-30004 (original EU release model), for example, looks completely different on the inside.
great info my ps2 is working great now thanks to this info
This is explained very well and in great detail thankyou!!
Extremelly helpfull!!!
Thanks a lot, save my ps2 from garbage.
I have the same model does the laser just stop working without warning. Mine was fine a day ago now won't read anything?
Yes do a search on Aliexpress, buy from a shop with some reviews
eBay - about $5!
Turns out my PS2 laser is dead. My PS2 is the same fat version as yours, how easy is it to replace?
Are these 2 laser assemblys shown in the video interchangable?
Hi, I just replaced my lens, set the gears to 12 o'clock and made the screw lens horizontal.
The DVD keeps spinning and said 'reading disk' but nothing happens.
What can I try? Remember that a just both lens and removed the soldering
I just voided the warranty on my 39001 and found the laser didn't have a cover at all?
Hello my friend, My PS2 V4 FAT 30001-R reads perfectly PS2 DVD & DVD9 Games, also DVD Movies! All because i was able to calibrate it doing the angle adjustment, BUT now it wont play CD based games or PS2 CD games, Is there something I can do ? Thank you
Thank you. This tells me my laser is pooched. Im going to throw a hdd in it anyway.
Any idea?
What would you recommend as a first step if you see a laser seeking the disc, but no spindle motor spin. (On a fat)?
Thank you so much, this was very helpful
Mine had a bad worm
I fixed that after that it worked for a few minutes then the laser started to make focusing problems
Now it doesn't read and it doesn't focus
Tried to adjust pots and nope
Cleaned the laser and nope too
Any ideas ?
David Piçarra if it started rapidly degrading it's probably time to replace it, it's not the first time I've seen a system with multiple faults , if the new laser still doesn't track the disc properly it could be the drive (LA-6508) especially if it's a scph-500x console
Hey great video. I've replaced the laser in my 50001 and still have issues. Do you by chance have a picture of the part you mentions? the IRC i believe you called it.
Model 3000 with a V type laser (the one you cleaned the second lense on.) the laser activated for a secon upon spinup and then never turns back on while it spins the disc.
What would be the method if you only had a single cog in the middle? Where should it be adjusted to?
My ps2 fat makes a strange noise the first time I put a disc on like the motor try’s to spin the disc with difficulty. After couple seconds it stops and then it starts again on full speed and boots the game. It’s a strange issue I can’t figure out.
My ps2 is older than dirt and only has 1 white plastic cog, what position should I have that?
How can I tell which model PS2 I have? I have the single cog at the back, and that thing black laser covering is removable by just popping out the corners.
Hello
I have the same console and I don't know how to set up with those two white gears up there.
If I hold it in a certain spot in that corner you mentioned it has no problem most times.
my laser works perfectly with cds but it doesn't read any dvd, which trimmer have i to calibrate?the one under the screw or the other one?
Cristian Picco yeah.. same here. got it from the attic and found it not working..
You didn't mention how to adjust the 3000 Series with the single COG
+HPZeta Thank you works perfect!
So what if you replaced the Lazer light and it still does not read? But it does spin, work smooth, and did read the disc for 20 seconds?
Now it just does not read anymore
I noticed my spindle isn't as smooth as yours when the disc spins, any idea what might make it wobble slightly? not sure how big of a problem that is, just something I noticed.
Recall GOOD määäään !! Good clear instructions.!! Maybe i need do it now... . I played aa DVD film. Now it doesn't read att all ! . ) OR maybe i still got Guaranty at my 2nd Hand store....) ANYWAY i can now clean myself. And check Calibration! GREAT JOB , 😍 👌🤘 Cirtiee sthlm
How do you calibrate the 3000 Series with the single COG please I need help
not sure if you might reply to this, but what if it only spins once and stops, is this an indicator of a problem with the lense cuz its not detecting it or it has to do with the rotating piece?
Sil .o. that could be a bad lens or you forgot to unbridgeable the static pad at the back of a new laser
i guess its the bad lens its old and the image also looks black and white, great video tho, seems it solved many peoples problems with their lenses, in my case, i still gotta get another one it seems XD thanks for the feedback
My ps2 phat never had any cover on it and it was like this from the factory. I just cracked mine open to clean it and it does not have any black cover.
Do new lasers come precalibrated or do you have to adjust each one?
Any idea what could the problem be if my ps2 slim reads cd ps1/2 games, dvd movies and DUAL layer ps2 games but not SINGLE layer ps2 games?
That's a very odd combination, normally duel layer PS2 games are harder to read and they fail first , have you checked that the motor didn't get any dust in it, if it's fine it could be some odd laser behaviour, their fairly cheap now to replace but on slimlines I recommend replacing the entire mechanism it's only about $5 more but you get new things :)
Will the disc not spin at all if the laser is bad? Thanks.
Thank you
edit: I see the laser for a second on the replacement, but the disk drive doesnt initiate.
When a disc is in the tray the red dot constantly wiggles. What do I do?
If it constantly wiggles its most likely the laser coils that got damaged, if your lucky replacing the lens and coil assembly on the laser will fix it, but there is a chance that the coils got damaged due to the LA or BA IC blowing, this depends on the model tho, can you post the SCPH model number for me?
HPZeta SCPH-39004
Then most likely its just the coils :)
HPZeta So I should replace the laser?
I set the dials at twelve o'clock and still not reading anything. I initially took it apart to solve the rattling sound. The games were fine before this but started freezing sometimes and PS2 would rattle. I fixed the rattling and now it won't read anything
@fasman my disc does not spin.can you help me out what do I do?
i dont see setting cd or dvd for laser ps2 fat, left or right
Hey, I have a peculiar problem with my console.
@@FaSMaN Thanks! Will check it out. :)
I love it when people say they will put the link in the description or down below and then there is nothing there
Or the content creator removed the link cause the website is long since dead, this video was made 3 years ago.
My laser doesn’t flash red do I need a new laser? I still read games but slow it bugs me lol
You 100% needed that screw, it's unbelievably sensitive, without it it wouldn't work.
i have a SCPH-50001 and it keeps on going back to the browser. Can you please help me . Thank you
Wish there was a tutorial for 3001, cant do the 11 o clock thing
you can help me please ... ?? i have the ps2 fat model ... is modded i tried to play playstation 1 disc i have download and burned it from Internet ... annd say the message "insert disc" with a black screen and nothing ... i extrach the disc and doit again and then say reading disc and nothing ... with a white screen and memory cards ... i clean the laser and nothing ... the discs from ps2 original and the copies working correctly only for ps1 dont work ... you can please tell me what i can do ?? i am 3 days to trying and nothing please help me .... ( sorry for my english ) my model is SCPH-30004 R japan i bye it 2001 if i remember from GREECE ....
what can i do if i didnt mark where the lower arm rests on the snake rail before i started? is there a way get it right where its suppost to be?
It can sit anywhere on the snake rail as it the motor automatically moves it back to the correct position
i accidentally unplugged the on/off wire from the console while dismantling it. i tried plugging it back but it will come out very easily, do i have to glue it back?
chillyourself the ribbon cable should just slide in, you don't need glue :)
If it doesn't , have a look if the blue plastic strip is still there sometimes it falls off or tears , when that happens you need to replace it
Hi let me know what this the number on the side of the laser is this the correct calibration number here is on the label next to the laser here is the example D547 C656
@@FaSMaN
I moved both potentiometers (DVD and CD) and displaced the laser. I don't know what values to return and how to calibrate? When I bought a new laser it didn't work at all and so it is with every laser I buy. Each laser needs calibration and works fine afterwards.
@@FaSMaN
I know that without the oscilloscope it can be adjusted with resistance, but I don't know what the values are.
HPZeta Thanks for the answer but I recently repaired it... was a faulty flat cable.
I recently purchased a Pal- SCPH- 39004 I need to find a new laser. I dont know what model number I should buy?
+Malinoislover1 Forlife you need to open it up it will either be a C-type or a R-type laser the model will be on the side of the laser and you can purchase replacements from aliexpress
@@FaSMaN Be sure you choose the matching laser type - they are not compatible with each other without reflashing the system board with specialised Sony software.
My laser doesn't return to the middle when I pushed it out. What does this mean?
Normally its one of three things:
1. The laser arm is not making contact with the snake motor (check for wear and tear, and check if its not pushing too hard)
2. The snake motor could be damaged. (Replace it)
3. Check the fuses on the motherboard. (check for continuity)
Thats normally where I would start.
So, after doing all of the above steps, my PS2 only plays the bluish-purple discs, not any of the others. Any idea why the other discs won’t play?
+Shaddow Lost laser is gone sadly you will have to replace it
@@FaSMaN Just installed a NEW 400c laser in my 50001.
Thanks.
It's difficult for me to tell what's going on remotely , if you can send me a video I can quickly check and help out :)
PS where are you from?
I changed the laser on my PS2 and then the disc wouldn't even spin - not even a twitch! As though it is not even seeking to detect a disc. I put the old laser back in, it didnt work either. The worst of it is the laser hadn't even died yet - it was just getting super slow to pick up the disc so I thought I would be preemptive. Regret.......
where can i get a modchip for my FAT 50K PS2?
Does it really have to be alcohol? We don't have that at home... And well, I've tried many ways to fix the PS2's disk reading error via youtube, nothing seemed to work.
Would be nice if you have a solution for this.
Check the comments down below, I listed a few alternatives already :)
Window cleaner also works , spray some into a cup and dip your cotton swab/bud into it. DO NOT SPRAY IT ON THE LASER.
hello, good video, I 'm Mexican and I have a priblema with my ps2, what happens is that I am calibrating the dvd, but not what is the optimal value to calibrate thanks
It depends on the laser. Slowly start turning the calibrator until it works.
