Ubisoft not putting their all in marketing behind Beyond Good and Evil makes sense when you think back and remember there was like nothing marketing wise because it came out on the same fuckin' day as Prince of Persia: Sands of Time for at least the PS2. Exact day.
Sitting here holding my head in my hands because these guys didn't read any of the tutorial text for Daybreak and then are just out here saying the game doesn't explain anything like it isn't completely their fault.
I'm pretty sure the reason Beyond Two Souls went all asynchronous was so they could hide how loosely strung together the scenes in each time period were.
I've heard this criticism said about Batman V. superman, but I think it applies here 1000% "They wrote cool moments, but not a single scene". There are no scenes in Beyond Two Souls. Not a single one. As such, there's no connecting tissue between the (absent) scenes. It's just "bam bam bam" of action set piece after set piece without rhyme or reason.
That and David Cage is a cowardly writer. You see sometimes when you make a scene you think of a different way you could do the same scene again, and you have to choose between which version to use, but David doesn't wanna so he just does them both.
2:06:47 Yes, Ibuki-Douji is a version of Shuten-Douji, sorta. In some legends about Shuten she's the daughter of the god of Mt. Ibuki (Yamata-no-Orochi), Ibuki in FGO basically represents that aspect of the legends and is a fragment of Orochi. That picture is her swimsuit version as part of this year's summer event.
Jesus Christ, those X-Men opinions are something to behold. I'm not the biggest fan of Matthew Vaughn (I mean who is), but he directs action and suspense like 1000x better than Bryan Singer. First Class has that incredible scene in Argentina with Magneto and that highly kinetic finale in Cuba. I'd actually make the argument that it's the best directed X-Men film outside of The Wolverine and Logan.
Genuinely confused by what the "tonal shift" in KH DDD is supposed to be 🤔 Anyone care to explain? BBS and Days are the two games with a different tone, imho DDD feels like it should be numbered 3 and 3 feels like it should be numbered 4. Both thematically and tone-wise it's a straight line to me
"If your units are too close together when that thing happens they all die." And thus a valuable lesson about spacing was taught. I'm envisioning that "the thing" is just Womble with a bag of grenades.
People saying the endings of MK are never followed up on are probably exaggerating that certain things are left open-ended so they COULD fill them later, or mixing them up for extra lore introduced in arcade endings seeming to imply potential future stuff by teasing that a new/returning character exists and COULD appear later or a potential plotline could overlap. Like how MK9 teases Jade's Mom doing something in the shadows, even if her body-jacking Jade after she kills Shao Kahn isn't canon to the main story. Or in MKX Ferra from Ferra-Torr growing up to eventually become Torr's replacement and getting her own new little freak replacing her in the combo. Just for one of them to canonically die before that can happen in the main timeline and be seen nowhere in MK11.
Well it's like at the end of 9 where they tease the MK4 storyline with Shinnok, but then relegate it to a single chapter at the beginning of MKX, then do their own thing with a timeskip and then bring him back at the end. Then at the end of MKX you have the tease of Dark Raiden threatening Revenant Liu Kang and Kitana, who now rule the Netherrealm, thinking that surely they'll have an important role, only for MK11 to only have Dark Raiden around for, again, a single chapter, making up a new rule to write him out, and the Revenants immediately becoming lackeys for Kronika. That's mostly what people refer to there, I think.
im so sad about bungie man. i used to dream about working there when i was a kid, ive even been one of destiny's strongest soldiers. everyone agrees the final shape was easily one of the best things they ever put out for destiny, if not THE best. their own statement about layoffs called TFS a huge success. its been out LESS THAN TWO MONTHS and now they gutted the people who made that success possible. i thought we turned things around but ever since they were bought out by sony it's been one disappointment after another despite all the promises sony made
As I haven't touched any if them, I'm interested in Logan and disinterested in The Last Of Us. Might hate what the series has come to represent, but not the games themselves. Oh my gosh, that transition into news was incredible.
Aggro, I hate to be the bearer of bad news. But while Dan's goo-ality was made up, for some godforsaken reason the Mortal Kombat devs decided to add a Thanksgiving/Christmas force feeding and weight gain fatality as a microtransaction purchase.
Honestly the only reason I didn't play Dragon's Dogma 2 is the bad performance. Capcom just needs to make games with a normal structure for the story and missions while also having good performance. Like Viewtiful Joe
I love Logan, and never liked the idea of the last of us, might be cause people spoiled me the end? Or that I'm not a fan of crafting survival and zombie games? The thing is I kinda hated the idea of the ending, after the TV series I heard people talking about the game and the execution of the story sounds really good, so right now I'm in the position were Logan demonstrate to me that I might like the story of last of us, but still I really don't Wana play it... I played uncharted 2 and 3 and I didn't like them that much, I played the new tomb raiders 1 and 2(i have 3 but I'm not sure when I will play it) and although I like a lot more tomb raider i not so big in that kind of game play, I not that big of most of shooters, so right now still don't find last of us as something I want to play

I liked Logan, and didn't like The Last of Us as much as everyone else did. I thought it was just fine.
I'm also in that boat, I'm not the biggest fan of the Last of Us but enjoyed Logan quite a bit.
Logan has much better storytelling than Last of Us, change my mind

Like how MK9 teases Jade's Mom doing something in the shadows, even if her body-jacking Jade after she kills Shao Kahn isn't canon to the main story. Joel Last of Us doesn’t have knives coming out of his fists so Logan is better
Joel gets his comeuppance, but Logan is made right by author fiat every single time and is immortal.
