That Warm Audio Bus Comp is probably gonna be my first real hardware bus compressor. Been hearing great things about it and it's the most affordable compared to others.
Nice basic simple but powerful setup, I have a bit of outboard gear I have collected over the years, Pro Tools HDX, UA SHARK, PCIE DSP card, UA 6176, Ssl XRack with buss compressor, eq and stereo compressor and stereo eqs, u87, Km184, SSL Xdesk, warm WA2A compressor, a few other mics, SSL variamp 4 channel rack unit, Roland phantom 6, NI Kontack,, a whisper room vocal booth. I am undecided about getting a Neve 1073/BEA or the RND Newton channel, then I’ll end my hardware hording with the Tegeler EQ p pultech style EQ to put on my mix buss
Love the setup still expensive but the essentials needs covered with u starting with the room treatment to your furniture to your front end being interface, preamp/eq, compressor, and mic along with a stereo compressor is definitely a dream "home studio" because having all these things covered your pretty much set along with a few plugins Ima have to take a look at the youtube setup next cause i luv the visual on this video and lighting plus that the audio is excellent. Great job
And my setup has changed again since this video LOL but I'll be sure to do that video soon. Also never got around to the UA-cam video but it's still on my list. Stay tuned!
Nice place. Warm audio isn't it, but that Neve is nice. I have an Avalon 737, tlm 103 combo. I would like to add a Neve like the one you have there, and a U87. Name brand gear is so pricey right now though.
Name brand is crazy expensive and if I were more serious about music these days I might be considering avoiding clones. I lean more towards my UA-cam content and photography these days but if music ever tops that list again I might just make the jump.
Excellent choices and your thought processes all made sense. I have that same audio interface which I am using as a ADAT extension for my RME. I agree Adam Audio is where it's at. The bulk of the expense went into the Neve mic preamp which is extremely wise and where it should be.
I always love your videos Jacob! I used to use a Furman, but switched to a Radial Engineering Power-2 Conditioner. Unfortunately, it's your computer that pumps dirty electrical noise back into your room's electrical circuit. If you test your outlet before and after turning on your computer with a Greenwave EMI Dirty Electricity Meter... you'll see a mV increase of about 800 mV to 1000 mV when your computer is on. The only way to get around that extra line noise would be to create two isolated electrical lines going back to the breaker box. One line for all audio to be on and the other for all of the computer noise to be on. I talked with an electrician about doing it for my studio, and he said I could save on cost if I ran the Romex through the walls and attic myself and then had them come in to finish the tie-ins to the breaker box. Also, sorry about the Eagles man. They were getting close! I'm also sad about the Cowboys' loss since I'm a Texas resident.
Appreciate all the added input. Yea Eagles ending sucked, Cowboys was worse imo because most people thought they'd win. I'm also from TX and rooting for Texans
Nice, solid setup, touching all bases. Listening on my phone, couldn't pick up any difference on the bus compressor though. Guess you gotta be there. I know you've gone through a lot of interfaces in the last several years, settling on the Focusrite. I'm still suffering from information paralization on that. Hope you're feeling well these days, Jacob. Excellent, precise video as usual. Right to the point.
You should hear a difference with headphones on, it's subtle but it's there. As far as interfaces the setup will forever change, makes for fresh content! I'm feeling as good as can be, as long as my channel survives I'll be alright
Congratulations to splendid setup. Your studio is absolutely fantastic. I healthly envy you. ;-) Tbh, especially the room audio treatment. I like your channel and videos a lot.
Great review, but I would love to see a video focusing on computer and software requirements, especially for recording videos to post to UA-cam. People seem to be highly secretive and reluctant to discuss this topic, but we all need to start somewhere…
How much better is it to have a Warm Audio WA-1B Compressor than it would be to just use the Pultec VST? Is it worth the 1200 spent 🤔? Or is the VST Version good enough to save the 1200.00 and stay in the box? Thanks!
I Just Bought the ADAM A7Vs 2 Weeks ago I did Own a Apollo X6 but now just Run a Twin X Quad Still 1600$ But Oh well i would say For focusrite their RED NET Line is What they Consider their high-end audio interface line but some of it is just marketing" they do Boost DANTE but ADAM Also has its S Line of Monitors but the New V and H series all have DSP and builr in Sonarworks they just lack Digital input AES. Nice Setup 😎
Video is great!! The overly scripting it gives it a stiff, almost sales/commerical feel to it. Tone and pacing feels like you're trying to sell me something. Keep up the good work!
you know, these room setups never end.... oh i re-doo stuff all the time, i got 3 rooms and i havent even started on my garage, which would be 4. Well thank you! 😀
I haven't had it for a while. Great desk it's just I get desks sent to me frequently and don't have the space to keep them all so I have to pick and choose what I keep.
@@JacobDarkOfficial I'm currently using an old Groove Tubes GT55 mic for many years, but I want to compare it with the most recent mics to see the difference.
The acoustics? Yes. Desk and stands? Nice. Pres? Yes. Mics? Lewitt: Yes, the best choice for any budget. Compressor? Yes. Speakers? Yes. They seem great for your room size. Focusrite Interface? Well, I'm still undecided; it depends on the latency compared to the Apollo. If it performs better or equal in latency terms while using a new Mac Studio, then it's a yes 100%. We are due for a newer, "better" interface in the field. As for the PC, I'm not sure. You may have a video explaining the benefits. I'm a Mac user, and I don't want to try another operating system. Your setup is what I have come to realize that I want. Of course, I will use different flavor pres, compressors, and a summing box, but essentially, it is all the same. I am adding the Trinnov Nova. After a year of searching to update and modernize my Apogee Symphony system, I plan to upgrade to gear and mics similar to yours. Have you considered doing a converters shoutout between the Clarett and the UA Apollo? How's the latency situation with the Clarett and your PC? Would you be interested in making videos about these two topics? Thanks for the outstanding content.
I haven't run into any issues with latency but don't use software instruments so never really push my system super hard. I'm trying to get back into actual music but between my UA-cam videos and living with an incurable illness always feeling fogged out it's been difficult. As far as UA goes I'm waiting for them to drop a new line before I pick up something from them.
@@JacobDarkOfficial I am sorry to know you have an incurable illness. Perhaps you have talked about this in another video. If you need to talk about that, share, or need something, I could share my contact information with you, truly.
@@casade2831 Yea will make 7 years this July, it is what it is, luckily I found a way to continue living with my channel. As long as you see my channel uploading I'm doing ok.
Interesting... update from a Symphony system to a Clarett+??? It would be interesting to do a converter shootout between the Clarett+ and a UA Apollo. I think the Clarett+ -line of interfaces are very good. It was one of the few interfaces I could get running on my PC laptop... but earlier this month I acquired a new MBP 16" with M3 Max. I'll do a full transition back to Mac when updated Mac Studios are available. I'll NEVER mess with a PC again for music production!
Warm audio products are used by many professional studios as well. The Clarett is ok but Bob Clairmountian swears that Apogee A/D converters are the best in the world and I think The godfather of modern mixing probably knows what he's talking about.
