I have one of the first 500 units out and have been using/tweaking/experimenting with it for over a year now and I have not been disappointed. Makes my small family room sound like the movie theater and I rarely turn it up above 15 as it gets too loud depending on source. I am getting one of the new 12" subwoofers to go with my two double 8" subs just to see how it sounds as, while I am happy with my 8" subs, I want to see how they sound coupled with a 12" sub as well. I paid full price for mine so the only regret is that I could have/should have waited and bought now but if I had, because of some of the reviews out there, I might not have bought this and then I would have really missed out on a fantastic system. Still glad I bought it and after a year have no regrets as to the build and sound quality. In my particular room set up with flat 8-foot ceiling the Atmos performs very well, and I hear sounds around and above me where there are no speakers which is quite amazing. Many have criticized the subs as being poor quality because they start dropping off at lower frequencies and some experience them bottoming out. I personally have not had that problem but maybe because I don't crank the volume up far enough to cause the issue. System is worth it to me, and I am still happy with my system.
I can't stress how important it is to keep tweaking to find that perfect balance. Yea I could've went with the 12" sub myself but living in an apartment I could barely push two of these 4 8" subs enough lol
I bought mine a week after the initial launch.I would suggest that all original owners write Nakamichi management or headquarters to have reconsider allowing the original owners to purchase the12inch sub minus our 1000.00 initial payment and charge us 400.00 towards the 12inch sub.The more original owners to do this will get their attention.
I have the perfect living room for this. No neighbors, and can open this thing up for a full volume review. 📻Nakamichi, send one this way and I'll put one to a torture test 🔈🔉🔊🔊.
There is a hack module that allows you take the 8s out of play and basically attach any subwoofer you want. I am currently using SVS PB-1000 Pros and the difference is night and day.
As someone who has had both honestly their both super similar. A traditional receiver with a decent set of bookshelf's around and above you will sound a lot better. I didn't know what nuance in sound was until I tried proper bookshelves. The sound bar setup is a little easier not having to run and hide speaker cable, but the clear audio from the sounds of cats footsteps running around and behind you off screen to a giant car explosion just had so much more immersion and impact on a decent traditional setup. I was never fully happy with my Nakamichi systems because the sound was too harsh too fast and I had to constantly reach for the remote to turn up during quiet dialogue and turn down during action packed scenes and the clarity between the highs and lows was so muffled that it was hard to really get that Dolby Atmos feeling/effect. It wasn't until I got some decent Polk speakers that I really understood what all the real audio enthusiasts in the space were trying to convey about nuance and fidelity in your sound.
i have both 7.2.4 and the 9.2.6 shockwave they are awesome i cant imagine needing the dragon i also have a small 2k sqft home compared to many with theatre rooms.
I’ve had nakamichi sound bars before and my WiFi in my home caused lots of audio issues with cracking and audio going in and out on the wireless subs and rear speakers. Did they address these issues?
Some issues were solved through updates, which you must do through usb drive. I’ve also had luck with changing the wireless channels the subs were using ( shockwafe models) per the manual troubleshooting steps.

Link to how it's done? Is it easy?
I got the extra 12 inch subs and after doing the firmware update it doesn’t work at all now…awesome👍
Hey, where’s the media stand from
Estaba viendo un partido en fútbol libre y me mandó pa acá
What is the SHOCKWAVE system about? Any better than this DRAGON setup?
Haven’t heard the shockwave but I’d assume it’s not as good since it’s priced cheaper

I can only speak to my experience but did not have any such issues

The 12s are better. The 8s are trash.
I’d imagine they’re substantially better just can’t do it in an apartment.
I have the 12s in my bathroom setup. They rattle the tub.
