Great design! Many of us young people,. especially those into audio and video dream of owning a home and have to get by with what we can while living in a 1 or 2 bedroom apartment.
Great video, i like a lot of your videos. I also have an apartment home theater. And a point on bass that works for me: if you are going to use subwoofers, use sound absorbant pads under the subwoofers. Also bass shakers are very effective to simulate tactile feeling without sound waves, just get shock absorbant pads as well. Bass shakers make the entire room feel like its shaking if you are in your seat, but if you are not in the seat, you feel nothing. Knock on wood, but i have never had a complaint. And i watch things past midnight during the week. My neighbors tell me they hear nothing. Anyhow, this is a great guide and appreciate you spreading your knowledge to others.
Nice! And yea I use iso acoustic stands where I can for bass. I keep hearing about bass shakers so I may have to look into that though I'm pretty happy with the setup I have now and the sound I get. I'm assuming you put bass shakers under your cushion if you're on a couch?
@JacobDarkOfficial yes, i have a video if you want to see my bass shaker installation. But based on another youtube video i saw, i installed a wood board to the frame of my couch, then installed two bass shakers to the board. I used Dayton's which are not the best bass shakers. But they are definately powerful.
I didn't know they made angled speakers you could mount high like that. I'm guessing you used the curtains to hide the cables, right? Also, nice job managing the cables. What did you use to secure them to the wall?
Yea they're a game changer if you're used to soundbar Atmos or upfiring speakers. I used coaxial staples and ran the wires down the sides of the doors you can't see behind the curtains.
Very nice equipment, but there is no way those SVS towers with the tiny woofers dig deep enough to replace a half decent subwoofer. Keep in mind, smaller drivers typically have much less excursion than the equivalent bigger driver so going with the model with the 8 inch drivers would have been better off at producing deep low bass. If you want to hear some deep bass without disturbing your neghbours, near-field subwoofers would be better and you wouldn't have to crank them up full tilt, and still have much better infrasonic bass. Also maybe it's just the angle in the video, but it looks like your height speakers are way in front of the listening position and are off axis. That totally kills the top end frequency response.
@@LeeLee-fi7mx Thanks for chiming in! The goal is not to replace a sub but to maintain a bass level I’m happy with without disturbing neighbors which I’ve achieved. Of course I’m not going to get deep bass vs a sub but that’s a trade off I was willing to sacrifice in order to have my home theater. Should life bless me with a house down the line I can always add one later. As far as the middle Atmos channels they sound fine to my ears and are in the best placement possible due to my floor plan (Right wall has a very small amount of space) Oh and 8” Pinnacle towers would be fantastic at getting more bass but are another 2 grand and I was afraid would then be a bit much on the low end when I want to listen loud enough, again I can always add a sub later for more bass.
I suffered from loud neighbors and had to move. It was not sound system related.. It really messed me up psychological. The last days I put a speaker system next to the wall, just for revenge..
Honestly I've never used buttkickers which is why I didn't include it but man even without a sub sometimes I still have to turn these speakers down lol
Fact: unless your apartment is hermetically sealed and soundproof, there is NO WAY this is remotely possible. Even stereo speakers are often too loud, especially with a subwoofer. I can prove this entire video is a joke. Unless you have a dedicated home space separate from others, and the bass can not be felt by others, you can not do it. I lived in a mobile home park, and the other home on either side could still feel my 10 inch subwoofer. And I was not even close to reference levels.
Seems a bit harsh but I can assure you it’s absolutely possible as it’s literally happening everyday lol I’ve watched plenty of sports and movies like Mad Max, BladeRunner 2049, Top Gun Maverick and more at nice levels without a single complaint and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.
@ernies8828 I suspect you live in USA where most builds within the last 30 years use the cheapest materials for construction. No wonder you neighbors can hear a single 10 inch subwoofer. But that doesn't apply for other countries. I know, I lived in Missouri for a few years and saw the poor construction materials used. Now I live in an apartment in Europe that's built like a concrete bunker. I can't crank my system up and don't have to worry about neighbors complaining.
@@LeeLee-fi7mx I'm in the US and this setup works for me just fine even in a newer built apartment complex. He stated he lived in a mobile home which I imagine would have even thinner walls so I could see it not working in that scenario.
@LeeLee-fi7mx - every country has buildings of different builds. Even yours. Do not give me that crap. No way any building could be built solid without higher rent and costs, regardless. Bass can be felt through most walls. Unless every apartment has steel, cement and soundproofing, it will not matter. We have MANY buildings for apartments that have great quality. But it depends on what you want to pay in any country. Regardless, neighbors would still be able to hear and feel high sound pressure. This is no different anywhere in the world. Again, home theaters are designed and intended for separate built spaces, the best being a basement under ground. This is not a debate or an argument. I stated FACTS, not opinions. Go troll somewhere else.
@JacobDarkOfficial - The truth is not meant to be sugarcoated. Deal with it. You do not live in a regular apartment, so do not create videos making untrue claims. You can spare me the BS. Again, home theaters are designed and intended for separate living spaces, preferably a basement underground. Renters do not have the luxury of actual separate living space home ownership. Your video is pointless. Do not even waste your breath with me.
@jc74435 Money isn’t the issue, I have years of health problems that destroyed my credit when it first hit and I spent every dollar trying to find a cure that ultimately led nowhere. I was on the path to getting back where I needed to be until my illness was made worse a few months ago by black mold toxicity; haven’t been able to drive since and have been fighting the biggest battle of my life. UA-cam is my only source of income now and I honestly don’t know how much life I have left which is why unless I miraculously heal, it’s probably not going to happen.
@@JacobDarkOfficial I'm sorry things aren't great healthwise. None of us know how much time we have left, even if we are in perfect health. Good on you for not only doing what you love, but sharing it with the world. Thank you!

Very helpful, I’m needing a new sound system at home. My old one crapped out after years of use. Thank you
Glad to be helpful, I've got plenty of home theater content on my channel and coming soon, stay tuned!

Sorry that happened! I try to be respectful as much as possible.
Can any one tell me how to play Dolby Atmos content from pendrive / hard drive.
You forgot to mention adding buttkickers style to add all the low end frequencies. 🎉

Maybe if you didnt spend thousands of dollars on high end home theater equipment, you could save for a down payment on a house.

Yeah, because you can not have home theater in an apartment. Period. Even 2.1 is impossible
