Great video !! The 2.7 I think is about a $2,000 option. Which you said I got the 2.3. Don’t get me wrong the 2.7 is awesome however. It looks very crammed in there and as I work on my own stuff the ease of maintenance is going to be much harder than the 2.3 engine. That was the main decision maker for me
Thanks for tuning in and the feedback. 👍
Yes I just bought my 2024 STX and I love it 2.3 l engine shoot straight up to 85 mi an hour in seconds
This was the combo I was waiting for but with Ford 's recall records it's making this long time Ford fan look at other manufacturers including the Nissan frontier with the 2025 refresh.
It's like I was reading my own thoughts inside my head
Which Ranger recalls, in particular, are you concerned about...... if I may ask?
@@cwqrpportable Ford quality in general as of late. The current recall on the 2.7L and 3.0L for 2021-2022 years due to intake valves. While this is supposedly solved I would like to wait a little bit to see if anything else pops up and the range of vehicles is expanded. Also the situation where you have to install oem reinforements to the box of the truck to carry loads. As someone who always installs a topper on my trucks this is something that should have been engineered in. I am sure they will iron these things out but I feel like I need to hold off a bit before considering the ranger.
@@spyder000069 Good luck whatever you decde. I run a whole fleet of Fseries trucks in my quarry and eng consulting firm ..They work awsome for us in harsh conditions. The recalls have been nothng burgers. Just took delivery of my new personal truck, '24 F150 hybrid Powerboost.
I have the 2.3 Ranger, 2020 model.
No complaints, slightly modified, transmission shifts smooth as silk.
Actually shifts smoother with modifications.
Yes this is the one. Ranger 2.7 accelerates effortlessly. #1 on my list, prefer 2.7 in 4x2 but haven't seen it yet.
I would love to see how close this is 0-60 compared to the heavier 3.0 Ranger Raptor ??
I say at least 5 and a half sec to 60
Ive tested 0-60 on my tuned 2.3l ranger and the new ranger raptor. The tuned 2.3 0-60 was 6.5secs and the stock 0-60 of the raptor was 5.9secs. Im having the ford tune done this week to the raptor and I will test again.
Having the 2.3 as a standard option is an excellent option like in my case. I dont tow and if I did I dont think it would be 7500 lbs maybe 25-3500 and I spend more time in the city but more miles on the highway plus a little lower on the maintenance 2 less plugs to change a little less coolant to need and most likely a little less oil to buy, however the 2.7 would be a fun engine to have, I think that's the reason rangers sales were so slow the v6 option was delayed, two sold here in a week a couple of weeks ago
3 or 4 raptors available at one of my local ford dealers $80-83k Cdn
I agree that this engine should have been available to begin with, but there needs to be a base engine for that customer who wants a no thrill work truck.
No rear seat vents is hard to swallow. Especially for those that plan to buy and drive longterm with growing family.
I am out of my normal territory here but I see this as an alternative to a Honda Ridgeline with a powerful six. Marketing mistakes I would predict are easy in a setting this competitive. I agree with your assessment. This is a pretty desireable truck. really. I see very few newish Rangers in our area. Great review..your marketing knowledge helps readers assess the value factor..top concern today!
Thanks Louis!
Beautiful little truck!
Agree completely, 6 banger should be standard. I like what i am seeing
I agree the Eco-Boost 165 CID V-6 should been the engine when launched in the US market.
This is exactly what Im gonna get. The base package xlt with no options other than the electronic locking rear axle and the spray in bed liner. Probably in iconic silver for me with the 2.7.
Absolutely nothing wrong with the 2.3L. My 24 Ranger has the 2.3 and I find it has plenty power. In fact, in one review of all the current mid-sized trucks, they did a drag race with them and the Ranger with the 2.3L was the fastest. I have seen mine hit 29 mpg hwy in eco mode. I am very happy with it and really enjoy driving it.
Not sure where you are seeing that Ford has taken a hit with the Ranger other than a grand slam home run out of the ballpark. The vast majority of reviews I have seen on the new Ranger have been very positive.
I like the Ranger. I have ordered a Ranger Raptor. But Ranger sales are down if you look up the sales numbers.
Ford should make spray in bed liners standard
Thank you…been waiting to hear something on the 2.7. I hope they add a Tremor option at some point.
Thank you for watching 👍
dang the 2.7 are finally showing up huh
some dealer orders are coming in now with the 2.7. Looking at and drove the Lariet V6 and was a very fun truck to drive. Wanting more power for easier towing, can fit in garage better than f150 but they arent the best bang for buck compared to the f150 with incentives. Still undecided at this point.
Mine is built just waiting for delivery.

2.7 has issues. 2.3 is proven no issues
i love the engine but am looking at the 2.3 just because its simpler and easier to work on. i plan on keeping it a long time.
Here in san diego at mossy ford we have 30 rangers coming in with the V6..
I wish they offered a normally aspirated v6 as the mid engine. I think I'd still go with the trail boss Colorado for just under 40k for the additional off road capability.
its wild they don't honestly
I can't find one of these anywhere. And none of my local dealers want to transfer one from somewhere else. Guess I'm going to wait for 2025 models to open and order.
It has two turbos, 4 camshafts, 2 more pistons, double the complexity of chains driving the camshafts. Of course it costs more. The 2.3 is a much simpler engine, i like simple. I own the new Ranger with the 2.3L and like the power output.
2.7 is so much more built! Ground up built like a diesel engine. Even is built with CGI which makes it unbelievably strong and could handle even more boost if you throw it at it . I have first gen f150 with this motor and I’m at 100 k miles and only changed oil . I am not nice to truck I can’t believe how good it been to me
@@michaelH0000wow really no problem with wet belt that there has been complaints about I don’t no much about any of turbos I prefer v8 non turbo
@@MrRockyko nope not 1 problem. This is my first ecoboost I have had 3 previous f150 v8s
@@michaelH0000 wow thanks for that I’m not sure what I’m buying next thanks again
@@MrRockyko no problem, ✌️ from TX
I have heard it handles a little front heavy by comparison to the 2.3l.
Thanks for the video, definitely ordering a 2.7 or if our sales person can find one.

Thanks for tuning in and the feedback. Much appreciated 👍
@@chabbysrides brother, you had the first video on the 2.7, appreciate the effort and enjoyed the prior Ranger video. Thanks again, best to you and yours.
@@chabbysrides we bought a 2.7 this past Thursday! Great truck…..we were planning on ordering by end of year; one popped up here in SF Bay exactly to our spec, but in cactus grey. They offered $1300 below MSRP and a sweet offer on our trade in. Boom! Just in time for October camping trip.
Thanks again for the Ranger content
Congrats Brother!! Glad you got one sooner than later. I have a Ranger Raptor on order. Enjoy the truck! 👍
I would prefer the 2.3 over the 2.7 personally. The 2.3 has the huge advantage of still having a chain driven oil pump over that stupid belt driven that they put in the 2.7 and 5.0. Stupid mistake by Ford. The 2.3 HP and TQ specs are plenty for a daily and doing anything light with it.
You are incorrect, Ford still forcing 4x4 with 2.7. I was in market for one, but went slightly used Tacoma with the 3.5. Tired of waiting on Ford to figure it out.
Only available as 4x4
FORD AC vents to the rear seat area. Split rear seat. Why is the Bronco OK for dingy towing but not the Ranger?????? Gotta fix that.
They're out of their minds with the price.
I know Ford. Got a Ford. Ford uses same parts in various vehicles and various year models. More than likely the 2.7 engine in THAT vehicle was manufactured two or three years ago, when that engine had recalls on it. Additionally, the MSRP in video is suspiciously low. That vehicle could have been manufactured early this year, and a three year old, NEW engine placed in it. Be better off with a 2.3.
Ford had a terrible release for the 2024 F150 too without a single 2024 hitting dealer lots until mid-April this year. Combine that with assembly line strikes, Ford has been plagued with problems that can only add to their quality complaints and recalls. Still, for a mid-sized truck, this is expensive.
Aside from the above, my additional concern is, how does this compare with a full sized truck from 20 years ago? Since all trucks have gotten larger, does the new V6 Ranger have more power, better MPGs, and keep the same or similar towing/payload capacities as a full sized V8 truck from the 90's and 2000's?
Yes.
Mid size truck = mid size loads.
@@jeffk464 not necessarily. The payload on a Ranger is equal or even higher than my 2024 King Ranch F150. With a tow capacity of 7500 and a higher payload than an F150, this means it can actually tow better (on paper) than a full sized truck today.
Still, this doesn’t answer my question as to how this compares to a 20 y/o full sized truck.
45k?.....no power seats and power sliding glass OR sunroof?
There is nothing wrong with the 2.3L. Get over your six cylinder envy.
Absolutely nothing wrong with 2.3 that said the 2.7 is great in my f150, I’m trading in for the Ranger, been waiting on this
@@carlito_148 how many miles you got
@@carlito_148I have the first gen 2.7 in my f150 , always wanted to see this engine in the ranger.
Way more wrongs on the 2.7 than the 2.3… 2.7 has had 3 recalls and one major re design in its life.. 2.3 NO recalls and a tiny update (direct injection to port injection) I’d buy the 2.3 LOL
@@ethanvissers6018 I got first gen 2.7 only changed oil baby!! What a fantastic strong reliable motor would 100% buy another one
Compared to Frontier it’s more money for less features and worse reliability.
2.7 eco is fords most reliable engine. Definitely better than frontier 😂. Frontiers engine and transmission are boring
seems having 2.7 engine problems
@@whynotcnc8828 only 2019-2022 2.7 recalled. Supplier issue. Bad alloy valves. Only 2% of recalled vehicles are affected. Most of the bad valves have already been found because engine failure usually occurred before 10,000 miles.
