On the inside you will be greeted by a new portrait style infotainment screen and 12in digital gauge cluster. Under the hood is a 2.3L turbocharged inline-4 that is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Is the 2024 Ford Ranger Lariat the BEST new truck to BUY?

If I were someone that wants this truck, and specifically the XLT and Lariat trims, wait until sometime this summer. That’s when the 2.7L V6 XLT and Lariat Rangers should hit Ford dealers. I’d massively prefer that over the 2.3L turbo 4.
I like how they have made these comfortable to drive on the highway. I believe that those who choose the Ranger, will not be disappointed. 💙
Thanks for zonking that rubber stick antenna, Joe. No shark fin antenna in 2024 is a zonk for sure.
This ranger looks so much better than the previous ranger. And I do believe that Ten sp transmission gonna really do its job.
Ford just released the 2.7 engine option for the ranger xlt lariat.
I saw that but no specs on it. is that the same engine in the raptor?
@@guristoski2625 the raptor has the 3.0 405hp 430 tq. The 2.7 has 315 Hp and 400 tq.
pause and delivery of the million dollars was great lol
I gotta go with the Ford Ranger, Joe. I've always been a fan of the Ford Ranger & I was sad when they discontinued the Ranger in the US, but I was so glad when they brought it back to the US.
I ordered an XLT in early April after spending a lot of time comparing the Ranger with the Colorado. Watched quite a number of videos that compared these trucks with the Tacoma and Frontier as well. I really like both trucks, and while the Ranger doesn't have as much HP and torque as the Colorado, it still performs just as well and got a little better fuel economy. The import trucks really lack towing and payload capacity which is important to me. I mostly found minor trade-offs between the Ranger and Colorado in features, but they both drive and ride comparably well.
Where the Ranger won out was mostly due to the interior color, seat material, and front passenger seat height adjustment. The Colorado does not offer front passenger seat height adjustment at any trim level. The Colorado only offers 4-way manual adjustment, while the Ranger has 8-way manual and power adjustment. The front passenger seat in the Colorado sits too low and is not comfortable in relation to the arm rests. The cloth seat material is rough and only comes in black. The Ranger has much softer cloth seats, and I like the sandstone color much better than the all black interior in the Colorado.
The only thing I wish the Ranger offered is a sunroof. While you can get a sunroof in the Colorado, you can only get that option with 4WD which bumps the price up about $3500 over the 2WD.
You can get 8 way on Colorado as well on any trim LT and up
@@nathandean6753 - not for the passenger front seat. It is manual only with no height or lumbar adjustment.
Loved the O.J. Reference in the middle of the review 😂
I like the changes they made to the Ranger Raiti. Can't wait to see the 2024 F150 review next, brother! 👌
Stay tuned my brother!
@@RaitisRides Will do 👍🏻
This time I prefer the Ranger over the rest of midsize trucks. Different engine options to choose from, the interior is a bit more spacious and the price range is really good.
Oh wow! Thanks for sharing that Omar!
I work at the Ford dealership. And I took quite a bit of time today specking one out.. the best way to go for sure is the XLT with the FX4 package.. I think a decent value for around 43 to 44000. No one has mentioned that the XLT even has power folding outside mirrors. The base sound system is also very good when paired with bluetooth... I was skeptical about this truck at first but it's really really growing on me.. especially after a customer brought their 24 Colorado trail Boss in to show me.. very very cheap and plasticky.. 👎
The Ranger has the 2.7L as a engine option with the 2.3L , iv also read that the Ranger FX 4 and FX4 tremor will follow into the 2024-25 model , and new trim level may be in works using the 3.0L.from the raptor , hopefully they will revise the rear bench to a 60/40 split and rethink the lockers to hard button over the screen
Fun fact: here in the Caribbean the main competitor to the Ford Ranger is the Toyota Hilux.
It's true everywhere around the world.
You can get a 2.7 v6 in the ranger xlt or lariat
Shows he doesn’t read to much into news abt it
@@christianscott3981these reviews are just overviews, especially the ones at the dealership. So he missed the one engine option, people make mistakes. I’m sure next ranger video he does he will correct it.

Happy Monday . Great review
Alright Joe let’s see if this Ford will be the winner
Let's do this!
Overtime grinding for the people!
You guys deserve it!
That rear seat is not split, which is really to bad, it would be way better for storage flexibility. Otherwise a pretty solid offering, especially when you get the 2.7 engine.
I love how you make up a segue story about the siren relating to a Tacoma owner's reaction to the new Ford Ranger Lariat. 😂
My vote is for the Ranger. Great truck, Ford will sell a lot of them. Thanks Joe.
No doubt, the absolute best auto reviews on UA-cam!! A small zonk for you though, Joe, the rear window is power sliding, not manual :)
I’m pretty sure that little hole next to the cup holders is for the key fob
It’s for 4x4 selector, this one is a 2wd truck. He’s in FL so 2wd is more common. It’s an interesting built truck. No 4x4, no tow package, no spray in bed liner on a lariat trim
Great Video. Number 1 vehicle in Australia last year. That small hole in the centre console is where the off road and tow brake dial can be fitted on other models.
I'm pretty glad Ford didn't make the decision to get rid of the 2.3 Ecoboost in the Ranger, its an iconic and reliable engine from them. Kinda like the 5.0 V8 being a staple for them too.
I totally agree about the Sunroof. or lack thereof
There is no longer a sunroof in any Ranger.
@@richardlee2642 that wasn’t the question. That’s obvious. I’m hoping enough people complain that they bring it back
Joe and Lori and Steve keep up the good work real true and I love the video 👍
Midsize truck I would probably go Nissan Frontier pro-4x trim… It has a traditional v6.
That is very true.
Such crappy leg room, no telescopic wheel and manual rear window.
I got a Frontier Pro-4X just a few weeks ago and so far it’s been nothing but a stellar truck! The V6 accelerates quite smoothly too!
You mentioned that the engines are the 2.3 and 3.0, however there is a 2.7 soon. I think you do a great job! Thanks.
Thanks for another great review Joe! Will you be reviewing the Ranger Raptor soon? Please!
Yes of course Joe & I will buying this vehicle.
That sounds like a plan for sure!
No, you won't.
Any INFO regarding a TREMOR Package for the new RANGER ? ? ?
Good job Joe & I'm interested on buying this.
Did they move the oil filter to a better reached position?
Thanks Lori hope your doing good
As long as you have good lighting in cab the sunroof isn't necessary, be nice to have ac seats though. I like the looks of this over the taco.
Hey Joe, I'm looking to buy a new mid-size truck in September. I'm trying to decide between the 2024 Ford Ranger Lariat FX4 off Road with the new 2.7L V6 engine or the new 2024 Toyota Tacoma Hybrid Limited with the iForce Max engine. I believe you have driven both trucks. I wanted to get you opinion on which truck you would lean more towards purchasing? Thanks
Great review as always. Curious to know if you would consider doing a comparison between this new Ford Ranger and the Nissan Frontier Pro-4 X?
Bonsai tree holder! 🤣
I love the diversity of raidis rides. I'm not even a ford guy but loved this review. It's a cool looking truck too. I've seen a couple on the road and they look spiffy. I love the mid size truck segment. This is how big full size trucks used to be and it's all I need. I ain't tryin to impress no one.
if you could do a 2024 Honda Ridgline Trailsport review that would be sick!!!!
Is it quiet? No road, wind noise?
2024 Ford Ranger Raptor might be my first car.
I like the way that you think.
It is a well designed truck that would suffice for a great many customers. However, the pricing, just like Toyota's Tacoma, is crazy high, and is about 8k above what it should be to be widely affordable. With interest rates as high as they are, the number of people who can qualify for a loan for this truck will be quite a bit smaller than in years past. This is why the Maverick is selling so well; it represents a better value. Also, they should have added a hybrid option to this truck, it would make it the midsize leader, but at present, the new hybrid Tacoma remains the the king of the segment.
Really the king, the Taco hybrid does very little to improve anything, but it does cost a lot more.
No rear air vents?
I want a hybrid 4wd/awd version. Would like the screen turned landscape, buttons higher and more of them. While I'm wishing, rear seat AC and ventilated seats.
Very good requests
THATS A FORD FCKN RANGER
Agreed on the sunroof, but what happened to your nail? haha
I think Joe replied to someone saying he was working on one of his cars and closed the door on his finger I think. Something like that
@@mattmekhaeil ah damn that sucks. thanks.
No sunroof on even the top trim is a zonk!
In South Africa we have this with 3.0l twin turbo V6 diesel with 392hp and 430ft-lbs. A great engine.
That is so very true!
How is a bed liner not standard?
I love the new Ranger, and I'm so glad Ford did the whole refresh for it.
when i was deployed on my 2nd, 3rd, and 4th deployments i saw the Ranger and even then i thought why don't they bring this to the states and when they did it was over a decade old. the front of this and even the f 150 to me looks like the Maverick which isn't a bad thing. i know i sound old but prices on trucks now are insane. i still have my 2001 Dodge Ram and 2003 Toyota Tundra still running strong so i guess they're my trucks for however long these insane prices stick around.
waiting for the nd3 review can’t wait
Will there not be a 2.7L option released later in the year? It should be an option for XLT & Lariat?
Yes there will be.
Joe the Ford Ranger has been around for a long time & also there was another pick up truck called the Mazda B series
You are so very right!
@@RaitisRides yup
Frontier still #1. Engine and vehicle made in US. Naturally aspirated V6.
That is one of the last.
Joe, Do you think it drives like a small F-150?
I like the new Ranger. All these new midsized trucks are game changers. Could you be specific if a vehicle is two wheel drive or four wheel drive, particularly being in Florida?
Good looking truck.
I am glad that you think so David.
LOVE YOU MAN
Looks good…..I like the interior.
I am glad that you are digging this one Tom.
Finally they bring the awesome 2.7 engine to the Ranger, too bad no more 6 ft bed
No moonroof option for the 2024 Ranger or Ranger Raptor, a moonroof is an option on Tacoma and Colorado/Canyon trucks, the Colorado and Canyon pickups are a bit nicer and have some included things like (toe step rear bumpers) etc and options that this Ford does not have. Nice that Ford did do some improvements like on the Transmission but i'm not a fan of this Rangers light colored headliner on the interior, it doesn't match the interiors dark doors and seats and dash, there might be an option for an all black interior. Thankyou Joe and Lori !
We dont need no stinking badges. Nice UHF reference
Hello joe I don't understand why Thomas edison bulb exist in 2024
Love the color. Thomas Edison does it again, lol. No tow hooks up front and running boards would be a nice touch. Yes should definitely have a sunroof on a Lariat trim. Some midsize trucks don't need running boards like the Honda ridgeline. It doesn't sit up high enough in my opinion like a standard truck. I hate seeing Silverados without them. Even LTZ and High Country come without running boards which is insane.
Nice truck
I am so glad that you are digging this one.
You can now order 2.7l I hope you get to check it out ! 😊
When are we seeing the ranger raptor next Gen on throttle video?? Keen!!!!!!
I’m really digging this truck. And it seems it’s beating the competition in price ?
Yes it is.
Sure wish they’d offer a column shifter. I have it on my F150 and it’s really frees up the center console for storage and it’s less awkward with that giant shifter out of the way. My buddies F150 has the console shifter and he prefers mine better too. Also, need cup holders on the rear of the center arm rest like the Tacoma. Or wherever really. Just need four up front. It’s so so handy to have a place for a water and a coffee for both front seat passengers. Plus it’s easier to use for the rear seat passengers. It’s these little things that make for an easy to live with daily driver.
No 6.5’ bed is a dealbreaker tho
It's a great looking truck!! I just can't wrap my head around no a/c vents for the rear passengers. Same for the brand new Tacoma. I don't get it.
Some Rangers feature the side step on the rear of the bed but some don’t… I wonder why?
They got a lot of Mustangs on the lot. My local dealer only keeps 3 or 4
Walker Ford know how to do it Ronnie.
What's a chreroo?
How is this a 2024 ranger when it has the stick intena from 2014 like but a shark fen
How you guys in US consider the Ranger in terms of reliability compared with the Toyota Tacoma?
You can get a six cylinder in the Ford ranger XLT or lariat 2.7 L
This guy makes me think of Vice Grip Garage
2024 Ford Ranger Lariat Sport 4X2 Crew Cab 4X2!
Prop rod is always the way to go
What happened to Big Guns McGEE?
It's a trail mix holder.
At MSRP $46K it should come equipped with a camper shell!
I've combed through the midsize trucks the past year and am ordering a Ranger Raptor in the next couple months. I just can't settle on the shelter green or azure gray. Coworker says green all day, wife says azure. I'm leaning towards green myself but haven't seen azure in person. Thoughts anyone? I get its totally subjective, but a fun problem to have I guess :)
That sounds more exciting than my brother's iconic silver ranger raptor 😂
It's a nice vehicle and I love Ford's technology features. The 2.3 turbo is tried and and true, but sadly, the MPG rating is little better than a full-size F-150. Moreover, $46K is doable. What the heck, my 2023, fully loaded, Escape ST-Line Select (w/moonroof) was $43K on the window sticker.
If you don’t want the turbo 4 you can opt for a 2.7L V6 now in the XLT and Lariat Ranger.
A lariat with the larger shifter??
Yes sir.
The new Ranger like the former model has Amber Turn Lamps on the tail lights …this is important for safety and visibility and it’s the ONLY Mid Size Truck to have them….Thats important to me and yet not one review has mentioned this …..
Hey Joe!
2.7 V6 is available !
I like the truck more than Tacoma!
The info-screen is too low ..
Thanks for that info.
Where are all the cheap work trucks? I'm talking $15k base price. The world has lost it
A Honda Civic starts at 26k. smh. Those days are Long over.
@@leonardcann6645 I'll let it sit right there on the lot, too. Honda has lost their minds as well. Toyota most of all.
What new cars start that price?
Toyota is selling a pickup truck for around $11,000….unless you live in Thailand, you can forget it….BTW, no bed included. Just a flat frame.
Everything iust so expensive nowadays!
Bring the Base model 2024 Ranger from the UK/SA to the US. Single Cab with the Stick shift.
Too small for me but I like the fact that it's an low cost option
Thanks for letting me share it with you!
46k is a low cost option?
@@sergeantsnugglez3228 It is in today’s market sadly.
It’s interesting that the Ford Ranger has never offer a SuperCrew 6’ bed in North America but all other conventional midsize pickups have done it before
Gimme that 2.7
You are not the first to say that!
Ford Ranger all the way for me, Ford did a terrific job upgrading this truck minus the sunroof at this price point. Is a sunroof even available?
Unfortunately no. That's one of the few misses. Ford said that might be an option in the future. Wish they did a 60/40 rear split bench and ventilated seats.
That is a great question.
It’s a good looking truck just wish it came with a V6 instead. I know most trucks in this segment have downgraded to 4 banger turbos. Miss the NA V6 from the competition. Simple engine
They are now offering the 2.7 v6.
They’re a offering a 2.7L twin turbo V6, not NA, but if you don’t want the turbo 4, there’s that!
wow never though ranger would be a better buy then tacoma
I was really excited about this truck, the new redesign making the front end. Look a little more masculine matching the F150. But I really dislike that they do not have analog gauges. And then the huge iPad style screen in the center just looks odd. Not a lover of the new inside. The Tacoma is hands down the best interior compared to the Colorado and ranger.
