- We travel just over two hours to check out and possibly purchase something at the annual Babbit Hashknife Ranch colt sale. We don’t take many trips away from the ranch and when we do, we make sure to have a good time!
Averages: Fillies- $5,573 Colts- $6,500 - Спорт
The sound quality isn’t the best on this video, that’s my fault.... I’ll figure out this video thing someday, lol.
Thought the sound was loud and clear. I didnt have any issues with it👍 Thanks for sharing!
Do you guys sell horses on your ranch at Navajo Az?
If so,could I get a phone #
Thanks 🙏🏽
Everyday! If you have FB that’s the best way to get a hold of us.
I think you do fine
I thought prices were great! Horse bus in US looks good. This is good news!
My wife's father bought her two horses when she turned 16. Unfortunately she had to sell them to buy a car to drive to work to earn money to help her Mom who was too sick to work. One day I want to buy her another couple horses. She loves and respects horses so much.
We stayed a couple of nights in Flagstaff when we visited the states from New Zealand a few years ago, drove through all that country on the way to the Grand Canyon
Really enjoyed watching this, thanks for posting.
Thank you Danielle.. taking us to da horse 🐴 auction and getting to see all the horses that were auctioned off very interesting thank you for the great job and your vlog. 🐴🙏🤠
I love loved Arizona, miss it so much. Beautiful country awesome people and gorgeous horses
That was so fun!!! Thank you for taking us along 😃
You’re welcome!
All the way from Whyalla in South Australia. Enjoyed watching this. Filly 10 was a real nice colour. Reminded me of a book i used to own as a child. called Silver Brumby. I was impressed by the prices they got. Locally they would struggle to get anywhere near that.
Thank you thank you thank you thank you for taking all of us on a horse sale this of course was so much better than the auction houses truly enjoyed every aspect of it girl you rock it thank you very much for your effort in your time that was so enjoyable I even told my husband too quiet his phone down so I can hear what you all were saying. Lol. Angie-Ohio
Yes very good
Averages: Fillies- $5,573 Colts- $6,500
I've been to many cattle and sheep auctions but never open air or horses...loved it!
The Babbit Ranch has some really good horses and a previous winner of the Best of the Remuda award. We’ve had 4 horses, a gelding, brood mare, filly and a stud colt from Bogle Ltd Ranches in Dexter, New Mexico that’s also a recipient of the Best of the Remuda award in 1999. These are all awesome Ranches that produce some awesome horses, that will work a cow, sort pen and anything you want to do on them. Thanks guy’s, I enjoyed this video!
Hi
Thank you for great video never seen a horse auction like that one very cool. Thank you for sharing we everyone ❤❤❤
Oh wow!! Reed! ❤️. Watched his videos for years.. now I’m just watching yours.. small world 🌎
Thanks for watchin’!
Ross looks exactly like his dad! They're twins for sure! Great vlog!! ❤❤
Fascinating so very interesting video ! Txs
You do a great job with that iPhone 10. Truly enjoy your videos. Thank you so much.
I saw Reed using a GoPro so I bought me one of those, I just have to play with it
I LIKE the way you do auctions!! I can actually understand what you are saying. I can't understand most auctioneers.
Dang! $10,900 for an untrained colt! He must have one hell of a pedigree and loads of potential.
I was wondering if they were buying him as a potential stud rather than just a ranch horse.
Some of these breeding programs go back 80 or 100 years, with careful thoughtful breeding all the way down. These are working lines that aren't always the easiest to come by, so they run more expensive. You're paying the money for the potential to elevate your own program.
@Thorne123 🙌🏼
Love these video's, Thanks for sharing, people should want your autograph too, you make things interesting.
The Babbitt Ranch is famous. Wish I was there. Love their brand.
Nice to see a horse that you don't have to worry about meat buyers being at.
Awesome video! Thanks for taking us along to experience life in the West! The west is my favorite, I’m now a transplant in NC from SoCal
You’re welcome Mary! Thanks for watching!
Nice video. I enjoyed all of it, and awesome seeing Reed there. God Bless you and yours.
Thank You for the Great Video.
Enjoyed it very much.
I was there late so I’m glad to have come across this video.
Keep up the great work..
Very interesting ,, also I can't believe blue jeans in hot weather...whew
I'm so excited this morning 🌄 to an action. Thank you 😊
That blk qh mare and her colt looked good
Your little old I Phone 10 takes pics as good as and better at times than those flash cameras. Those take time to warm, get the setting correct then the operator needs to get organised. Keep up your good work, I throughly enjoy your pics and videos
Number 10 spectacular!
I'm so thankful you put this on. I'm in Texas now I lived out in Sedona Arizona. Where I loved my horses. I have gone through cancer. And miss them dearly. And I also miss Arizona. God bless you and your family
great virtual tour...........professional cowboy....so many horses
Much better conformation! Glad to see big hips and pretty heads.
Much better than…. ?
Flake shows up all over the place. Great video
I have travelled that road many times! beautiful drive!!
Nice video! I learned a lot. Fun.
Awesome! Enjoyed catching a ride.. Thank u.. nice horses.. to pricey tho.. another great video! 19 minutes flew by💥💥 your video uploaded driving by that ranch😅😂
Ahxéhee' (Thanks) again
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great Video .. Question - With Gerry's intro to his son's and the mention of daughters is there any possibility of a history lesson of 'Painted Desert Ranch' .. I'm sure many of us would be interested.. Thank you ..
Keep Doing What Your Doing .. Because What You Are Doing Is Awesome !!
That could be a possibility however, we never started this channel with the intentions of getting too, too personal.... we’ll have to talk about it as a team and a family to see if we’d want to do that. Thanks for the suggestion Jim!
@@PaintedDesertRanch I understand about the personal life and keeping it private, and I'm sure you have a lovely family .. But I was talking more of the Ranch, and how it got to be, as well as the history of the 'Painted Desert Ranch' ...
@@PaintedDesertRanch That's what I love about your channel. You keep it centered on the ranch -horses ❤Some content creators start to morph into reality tv shows focusing on the drama of the people and it really takes away from the subject area of their channel (imo). Keep up the great work!
That was awesome, thank you !
The very last scene on the video was real cool.
Awesome video! Thank you for taking us to the horse sale ! My first time
1st huh?! It was a good one too!
Hello there! Congrats with your vlogs!! Really good! Especially the little guy with the big hat on the small horse!!!😄👍👍Surprised seeing old Reedo Flake jumping before your camera 😀 I'm following Rodeo Reed for about a year now! Great stuf! Knowing you guys know eachother, I will surtanly keep following you guys to!! Promised!😄
I'm from Belgium, europe and very fund of american ranching! Keep up the good work!! 😀👍👋🇧🇪 Michel.
Glad you found us! Thanks for watching!
@@PaintedDesertRanch you are welcome!😀
Yay another video. Love this ♥️ watching from southwest oklahoma
Love that subscribers like you are looking forward to videos... motivates me 😁
Filly #10 is so beautiful! I wish I could get one colored like that raised by you guys!
Gorgeous horses.
Awesome video.
Thumbs up really good video.
#7 and her mama sure are pretty! #10 is gorgeous!!!
I love this. Thanks.
I had no idea that horses were that high. It's kinda funny, I was just wondering if you guys knew Reed Flake. Thanks for the video 🇺🇸
Cool. It was nice to see rodeo reed too. Love to watch your channel.
I’m 67 years old and grew up knowing Bruce Babbitt and Babbitt grocery stores and Babbitts stores in general. I bought my wedding dress at Babbitts in Flagstaff in 1972. I also grew up with the Donavins and Blair’s. It’s old home week! Born in Williams Arizona.
Very cool!
Thanks for posting this! I'm out with those prices though.😂 Glad they made some good money.
Same here! We didn’t purchase anything.
@@PaintedDesertRanch We went to one on the same day, in Oregon. They were getting the same prices for 2 and 3 year old broke colts. I came prepared to spend, but I still couldn't do it. Choked under pressure. 🤣
Lol, high pressure is right! Lol, super fun though.
Nice video also nice horses r iPhone 10 did a great job..👍🌞🐎
👍very nice road trip nice colts still like yours better though
Sweet! I thought right when I said to myself "the youngest looks like his son!" Looks like his doppleganger!
My grandfather was a rancher. I wish I had gotten a chance to follow in his footsteps....
I'm glad Reed pushed for ur channel on his channel !!!!
He is related to My wife so that makes him related to Henson. I pastured cattle for him and his brother for a couple years
Watched you guys talking and visiting with Reed Flake yesterday. 😀
Do you ever go to auctions and rescue horses from slaughter? Great video, Ty
No we don’t. Thank you 😊
This was fun to be a part of...thanks for inviting me...🤠😉
Thank you for sharing
SO FUN TO WATCH ✝️🇺🇸
Thx for sharing 💕
I've never been to the more rural parts of America before, but now I really feel like I'm missing out. You all seem like such nice horsepeople! Greetings from Germany!
That is where most of us live!
I feel the same! Have to plan a trip, I would so enjoy a trip like this. The prices are all right for us, you sometimes pay that sort of money for artificial insemination only! Some wonderful horses there and yes, that black colt stood out! Greetings from Holland!
I want one from Mr. Monster. He's a beaut!
Hip filly 7 and the last one were my favorites. The roan was nice and eye catching, but she was super flashy.
Your iPhone 10 does a great job!!!
That Big black mare looks like Monster
The last horse sale I attended was at the Flitner Ranch up here in Northern Wy. Horse flesh gone up a bit since then. Lol. Top selling ranch gelding was $16k, and I bout fell over. Big stout steel grey 8 yr old horse. He was sharp. 17 years ago that was. Good to see these foals and how you folks do it down there. Thanks for sharing it. Good to see Reed. You guys have any Driftwood bloodlines in your remuda? Take care now.
yes
@@PaintedDesertRanch thank you for taking the time to reply. He's a favorite foundation stallion of mine, and if I'd waited to see your stallions pedigrees in other videos, this would have been answered without troubling you. Thanks again. You've put together a great herd. Very nice stock. You deserve to be proud. You all do an outstanding job. Hopefully "Best Remuda" recognition is in you folks futures.
I loved the black colt, went for $10,900!!
Thoroughly enjoyed you taking us along to the sale. A little to rich for my blood, but good to see them selling well. You never know where Reed Flake will turn up, he is having to sell cattle also. Dry weather is killing a lot of people, and it looks to me like your monsoon season has shifted east, we're getting rain every day for a couple of weeks here in central Texas. Playing out now, we hope it shifts back to your area.
Our rain chance of 30% the last few days gives us a little pep in our step 😂... still nothing, but I don’t doubt that it’s coming!
One day PDR will do the same kind of sale. I think you should write an adventure book about horses, Navajo, and the desert.
Thanks very interesting
I believe your colts look every bit as good as theirs and prob. have just as much cow sense.
I love going to sales. I kept up price grinds and bloodlines that would cross with my lines.
I realy liked #10 , very cute baby !!!
I just found this channel and subbed
Welcome!!
Thank you Jireh!!!
Hit the Bell to receive notifications on new videos...I love this channel!
I know how the younger son feels, my dad was 62 when I was born and I have nieces and nephews who are older than me.
Some beautiful goals at the sale. Wish I would have gone along with you. Looks like you had a good day. Thanks for sharing this video
Sure do like that denim jacket
I like that baby that took off
Lots of good looking horses. Do you know who the high sell filly was out of? Great video 👍🏻
Caballo Drift
Wow, good to see Reed at the auction. (Small world). I’m hoping you let us know how much the horses are going for, most of the time we, at the end of the video, can’t hear.
It was all typed at the bottom of the screen
You just don't know where reed is going to turn up.
Nice Looking Pony Son
Some nice looking horses there. Looked like a good time. Do you ever have auctions at your place? Take care, Al
No we don’t, we sell them all individually... some even before they hit the ground. We love our buyers!
@@PaintedDesertRanch That is so great.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
New to your channel. Heard your channel from Reed Flake...
Well welcome Shaun! Glad to have ya!!
Oh my favorite thing to do when I was breeding horses was to hit the sales around me. See how the market was doing. I thought there where a lot of nice mare that would cross with your studs but unless you need new blood. I am looking forward to see yours run through a ring and bring top dollar.
👍👍
Look at these colt and filly prices
Lekker man lekker
Ja. Vind ik ook
Thank you very much for your great effort. I wish you success if it is possible to add Arabic subtitles in the video montage. And thank you. Greetings 🌺💐🌷⚘🗽📚from a cowboy from Morocco 🤠 🤠
You need to start an auction at your place.
The foals seem so young still. How old are they when being sold? I'm also surprised colts are more expensive than fillies. Here it's mostly the other way around.
The auction is in July... They stay with their mothers until they’re weaned and get picked up in March.
You didn't say if you got any of them. Some video can you explain how you change the brand on the horses when you buy them. I loved loved watching the aution. Thank you.
No we didn’t, we would’ve liked to but they were all pretty high. The brand doesn’t change, you can add your own brand after the purchase of a horse if you’d like... or not 😁
@@PaintedDesertRanch A horse that gets sold a number of times in its lifetime might start to look like a billboard on a bus, LOL
My computer would't let me read Painted Desert Ranch's reply. I don't believe they change the brands.
“I like big butts and I can not Lie”…❤️ and the baby big butts, too
#10 filly was stunning - what color would that be called? Cool vid - thanks!
Red roan
I bought my brood mare from Vic Howell years back her registered name was TG Ike’s Queen
