In high school our band had a fund raiser- we went house to house collecting pop bottles . One day, about 100 students, parents with pick up trucks… we raised over $2000. In 1975.
You are the best!! While I have a extensive knowledge of 18 & 19th century antiques I have leaned so much about the "new" antiques!! Recently sold a swung vase for $400.00 that I bought for $20 all because of you, thank you!!'
Kudos to the vendor who used blue painters tape under the price label! That way the super tacky glue does not ruin the items. So many things get unnecessary damage from price stickers. 👍🏼 Great idea that I may use in the future if necessary to price.
Ahhh George! If I knew you were in town I would have joined you! But, I just recalled I was work at the Green Goose Consignment shop, but you could have stopped by there too! Next time. 😄
I love Caithness as well, I lived near and toured the factory back in the early 80s while stationed nearby with USNavy. Was pretty poor then and couldn’t buy much but have continued to collect a few pieces here and there over the years.
I like those vintage bread boxes, I use them to do room boxes for dollhouse displays. I have a silver one that is all done up in a bakery style. Thanks for letting me tag along while you shopped and explained all the goodies. Have a great day and safe travels
I am a vendor of Saint Louis Antique Mall and I can tell you all of due our best to bring a variety of different items in. We have a mix of vintage, antique, handmade, fresh produce and more I personally resell a variety of vintage toys collectibles plush Legos and more in locked cases 5,7,&8 there. It's definitely a fun place to sell at And next time you are in ask to speak with Chad Lane co-owner of Saint Louis Antique Mall
Terrific! I saw your cases but would need you to help me interpret what to tell people about your specialties, my knowledge of them is more old-school. do certainly see a huge variety there. I enjoyed my visit and will definitely come back
@@TheAntiqueNomadLive not sure what to intupet about what I sell. Just a variety of vintage toys collectibles plush Legos hardback children's books puzzles monster trucks and more 😊
Interestingly enough, the reason for having the funeral home on "speed dial" is because the funeral home would also serve as the ambulance in small towns in Missouri (and I suspect elsewhere as well). You didn't get much medical care on the way to the hospital but you did get to ride in a reclining position.
I worked at AAA too in the late 80’s making triptiks for travelers! I lived in Ft Lauderdale at the time. That Haegar gazelle would have come home with me!❤
I wanted that job! I was a tow truck dispatcher there after college for awhile, couldn't get into the triptik office and one day a co-worker said, "You should get a job in your field," opened the newspaper, and there was an ad for a marketing assistant for a factory outlet and antique mall chain. So I guess AAA is why I'm here!
I'm always looking for anything exotic & rare Panama collectibles. Like your Panama molas , you sold me at Mt .Dora. Also , George, I also collect Vintage powder compacts from 1940's & 50's. But now I am looking for travel & souvenir ones! Can't wait to see you again in November! Thanks for responding!
Hi George and other friends 🎉 we made those basket purses in art class during the 60"s. Great fun to make with cutouts to match a friend's or Mom's interests.
Great prices in that place. I see so many items that were in my childhood home, now in antique shops. If I knew then what we know now. I also had an old rotary phone but where is it now?? That yellow one is pretty neat 😊
That was incredibly interesting. Some of the things you touched on I didn’t know were collectible now like the phones. So cool. Thanks for the lesson 🙂
Good evening, George. Not a lot that caught my eye there. For a long time, the high point, for me, was the large Stanley cooler 😂 I used to have one of those yellow rotary phones, and a yellow rotary wall phone. I could actually use that Queen Anne display table where the Depression glass was displayed. I really liked the Buffalo Pottery platter...a lot. That would be a fun place to browse. Thanks for taking us along! Have a happy and safe 4th of July!
Hi there! I was a little surprised given that the mall is in St. Louis at the dearth of really old things. I think the style of dealer there is focused on a different kind of sourcing. I like the wall phones the best, my mom used to tangle me in the cord of ours on occasion though! The Buffalo Pottery platter would've been mine if it hadn't had a crack. Happy 4th!
Dad's rootbeer next to the Vess bottle. You could still get that in some places about 40 years ago. How to know you're old: you can listen to the music playing in an antique store video (playing oldies) and name title and artist without thinking about it.
@@TheAntiqueNomadLive That is such a beautiful area! I know I’ve told you before that I am also from Washington State, but I am from Aberdeen, on the coast. I love that we have that in common:). I am planning on coming to the Rose City market this Sunday, the 14th, so I will definitely be saying hi! I wish I could make it Saturday, but I have my grandson & he isn’t into vintage shopping, tee hee. Have a safe travel week! 😊
You know why everyone transitioned out of neon to other forms of advertisement. It's cost of Fortune to run. Not in the budget anymore could you imagine being a small bar owner with a whole bunch of those burning up your whole power bill we're having a big neon sign out in front versus one with fluorescent tubes in it. Of course the neon looks better by a long shot and it has that cool buzz sound🎉
@azmike1 I understand, I focus on it a lot because honestly, a lot of the other items in the mall were more about used goods than vintage collectibles. I'd like to see more variety of real vintage in malls, but there is a generation now collecting who have been focused on home goods and haven't necessarily expanded their horizons yet...it comes with time I think
I had to smile when you talked about rural routes & boxes. We were still using rural rts & boxes until 2021.😂
Ours lasted into the 1980s
George if you're ever coming to California let us know I'd love to come see your booth and meet you!!❤
Hope to do eventually!
You are a walking encyclopedia! A wealth of info. ❤
Thanks! Glad to have you join us here
I find many good things for resale at the local flea markets and a few second hand stores.
So happy to see you filming in St Louis! I wonder if you found any World’s Fair items in your visit…
Not St. Louis 1904, but some Seattle 1962 items

Yes, that's right, there were handmade ones too, that would be neat to have now
When in St Louis check out the South County Antique Mall it is huge.
Nice tip !
I have a lot more to see in St. Louis
My parents would occasionally buy Green River for us too in the 60's - it was such a treat! We lived in Lynnwood area back then.
I had it in Silverdale in the 70s
Great video George❤
Thanks!
That yellow phone is Harvest Gold! My mom's appliances were referred to as that. That mall has a good vibe. I love pink depression glass
Great video George! Thanks for sharing!

For sure!

Came back to watch replay. We are fostering a new dog and it’s going pretty well, but is a handful at the moment.
It will pay off in the end.
