Is body on a wave THAT powerful is generational. Watched so many surfers in slow motion and the power that Florence generates makes my jaw drop every single time. A sight to behold.
I'm almost 62 now living in Alaska, from old kauai and before elporto anyway I'm living through you and nat videos and they are so good 👍 you guys represent what all surfing has grow into much love big aloha and mad respect 🙏
@@MyMotherWasaNinja what are you talking about? haha nah, cameras that do those frame rates with that quality usually don't even have auto modes (This looks like either red or blackmagic color science, - probably the latter cause i can see some fixed pattern noise in some shots- but neither have auto modes). And even if it was auto, there's really not a big difference from what you'd do manually. And given that the waves have bright white spots, I'm gonna assume it was manual, since the auto settings would tend to make everything grey.
@@Satysatonachair its especially obvious in bright scenes that the shutter speed is on auto. These filmers dont follow the 180 shutter rule and so the footage is all jittery and stop motion like rather than fluid and cinematic. Slow it down at quarter speed and its even more painfully obvious.
@@MyMotherWasaNinja there’s no 180 shutter rule. It’s a standard only for 24fps for smooth movement, but it’s not a rule. You shoot it however you like. And for crisp drops of water, a 90 or 45 degree shutter is fine. Specially in high FPS.
Had to go find that last song. It’s called The Sun and the Earth by Chameleon Treat. Off the album Winter on Callisto, 1971 released in 2020. Very choice cut.
The wave slow mo and slow mo in all your videos and music always on point and if anybody says anything different they don't know what they talking about... You can tell a lot of thought goes into the music you guys choose and the clips you use...
Exceptional footage!! This is the change I've been looking for in Surfing Vids. Slow it down allows us to really take in all the details that go into riding these waves, expecially guys with awesome talent. Very well done!!
The best part of your videos is that they aren't just raw footage, and they aren't just artistic, they are always something different. I love the way that your films are actually films, even the ones that are like extra footage, they are a joy to watch.
Heard you went back to poly for a mass increase perhaps. If you guys want a board that rotates fast and has some mass and weight to it, you should put a pound or two of lead right in the middle center of the lightest epoxy eps board you can have made for you. Like a ballerina spinning with her arms pulled in to concentrate mass near the center of axis, it could give you a new dimension of board behavior in the air. Never done it but it's fun to think about. Like an airplane wing, performance of the board would not only partially depend on it's mass versus lift, but also importantly how the mass is distributed so you could also try concentrating the mass in different location for different effects and responses.
Hey John. Sick video and thanks for making another part. If you happen to do a Vol. 3, can you add more face surfing rather than barrels. Thank you. Keep up the good work.
Man, I remember when I use to bodyguard the sand bars at ehukai in the early 2000s. I use hear your brother or friends call you, John John. You didnt look no older than 11 or 12; little did I know you would one day be a world champion! Take cares, bradduh!
So, uh... is Nathan contractually obligated to not be seen in your videos... only heard?? haha Sick video. I can't believe you stuck the landing on that cutback at 4:03. Koa with a beautiful barrel at 6:00. Ivan't cutback at 6:55.. holy crap!! Great vid.
Not gonna lie. I've already been depressed battling injuries and you surfing contest etc was the only highlight of my life, and I'm so fucked up you didn't surf mex 😞
My mentors were the surf nazis that wreaked my life by the way I got some classic 70z wedge and elporto Hawaii kauai stories so huh wish I could share with occy

psycho quality footage. your filmer/editor deserves a raise, John!
pretty sure john edits them but not completely sure
Show this footage to any professional DP and see what they say. This was shot on auto with a really expensive camera smh.

Perfectly captures the beauty of surfing.
Slowing it down to the speed that we experience it as surfers.

Just watching this was magical! Especially the end rain shot with the music
Fairly sure that a rain effect plugin overlaid on the footage.
