Just a really good camera and a gimbal. Filming folks surf from the shore isn't that hard with good gear, especially in a spot like pipeline that is like right there by the shore

This is such a deliberate shot across the bow of all his competitors, released just days before the comp. Genius. He's given all of them a very specific slow look at how fit and sharp he is in small beachies. Not to mention how good his boards are right now... Just hand him the trophy
Turned up the playback speed to 2.0 and found it much more enjoyable. Still slowed down but could feel the energy better in moves like the tail slide at 2:30.
