So helpful. I have a mix of supplies from various garage sales/thrift stores. I couldn't figure out how to tell what size to use and why sometimes the eyelet didn't curl over. But now I see it is because I didn't know there was a mix of eyelets and grommets and grommet backings. Thank you so much for your clear explanation!

Laura, As always, you've given such an easy, clear explanation when I needed it most. Thank you!! I have a really old (at least 40) Plier Kit for grommets and eyelets with no instructions. I need to add extra eyelets to an elasticized belt with a buckle because I've lost weight. Thanks so much for making my project easy with your practical video solution to my problem!

Thank you so much!! I went through several videos before this one, and destroyed two eyelets in the learning process (luckily I have 50 of them, and an abundance of text fabric, so no big loss) but the way you explained finally made sense! Thank you so much! Now I'll be able to finish my friend's gift in time for the Renaissance Festival no problem, you're an absolute life saver!

Hi Laura I make wooden plaques. For instance .... hanging hearts. They are made of mdf and already have the holes in them. The holes are usually 3 or 4mm thickness. I would like to use the eyelets to make the holes look neater. Can I ask what size eyelets I would need and also if it is possible to use these in mdf? Many thanks Sue

Thank you Laura for explaining this so well. I found in my late mom's sewing kit a little rectangular brass plate which I think is to set eyelets. It's 1/2" X 2" and it has PRYM stamped on it. Also is a round nob that says "top attaching tool" by it and a little round sharp hole that says "top hole punch." It says: 1/2" , 3/4" with a little line by each measurement. Making the hole is obvious but the attaching part is not working for me. The little nob is convex on one side and concave on the other. Perhaps you've seen these before. Am I missing a piece to this puzzle or did I not hit it hard enough with the hammer? I also wonder if it's for different size eyelets than the ones I have which are quite small and don't say the size but do say: Kurio 914063. Thank you.

Do the pliers provide more consistent or neater results than the hammer? Most people already have a hammer, but specialty pliers would be worth it if they produce better results.
