- Grommets look amazing and are practical on hoods, hems and other areas of our clothes. I'm sharing how to easily install them along with a few tips & tricks. Also, see some examples of finished makes and a peek of some I have not yet shared on the channel. I'm also sharing when I would prefer a buttonhole to a grommet.
I use grommets with 1/2" inner diameter and it works well with cords and drawstrings. I think 1/4" grommets are way too small.
Mine are from amazon: www.amazon.com...

Karina - You’re a born teacher. I love the quality & thoroughness of your content. You have been with me all the way in my sewing journey. Thank you so much for what you do.
Wow, thank you!
You are such a wonderful teacher. I refer to your videos often. I always know whatever question I have you will have a video. So informational. Thank you again💞
Thank you so much!
This is so helpful to me! I've tried using grommets for years without success. I appreciate the experience and technique you have shared with us. Thank you.
Thank you so much for this video. I felt much more confident installing my grommets after watching you.
Glad I could help😀
This was most helping! I have been afraid of grommet application for the longest time lol 😂 Thank you so much for your guidance!
Glad I could help!
I like your trick, thank you. I have never installed grommets, but when I do, I'll know how. Thank you.
Love this channel. Love your warm style of teaching. Thank you. When growing up in the USA, we called those eyelets many decades ago. However they were smaller. If a garment required lacing up an area, we used them.
Eyelet can also be sewed with hand stitching. :)
I know they are known like that too :) I just call them like Amazon does lol :)
(I think) that grommets are made from two pieces that crunch into each other and an eyelet is made of one piece that gets crunched around itself! That’s at least my understanding of it
This looks so professional!
That’s such a clever way to mark and cut your holes. Thank you for yet another video for making sewing a pleasure.
Thanks for watching!
Great tips, Karina! I really like that this was in a video by itself too, for easy reference later. Thank you!!
You are so welcome!
I'm making a Winterthur jacket for my daughter. The suggestion not to use a grommet for the drawstring casing is great. I was wondering about using them there. Thank you again for such professional information.
Sounds great! You’ll love the experience of making the jacket :)
Thank you so much for making these general tutorial videos. Much appreciated, and I come back to them over and over again.
Glad you like them!
I have so much trouble with grommets and grommet tools. Thanks.
I have bought some grommets but was too scared to use them, thank you very much for showing us in detail every step, and your hack for a smaller hole x
Oh my goodness ! Karina , that was easy . Can you show us how to put in snaps ? I have always avoided snaps , because I do not know how. Thanks
I’ve filmed how to put plastic snaps here ua-cam.com/video/_QdXsi9ckEo/v-deo.html BUT I don’t have access to metal snaps, so I’ve never done those.
Brilliant demonstration. Thank you for making this video.
This tutorial is so helpful. I actually inserted a grommet into the fabric within seconds. ❤
Wonderful!
This was great. I am in the process of adding grommets to my husband jacket so the timing is great. I also like the tip of making the hole especially on knits. Thank you💞
Glad it was helpful!
Watched tons of these videos and yours is the best!!! Thanks so much:)
Wow, thanks!
Thanks for covering grommet installation. This is something I've never added to a garment or craft project. I needed, but didn't have grommets for a small bag I was making. In the interest of time, I sewed two small buttonholes instead since it was a demo project. I borrowed the tools the next day, but I won't be needing anymore of those bagss because my bag didn't get chosen to fill the charity order. I know that I will be making a hoodie sometime this year so I am still going to use those grommets. I will definitely come back to your video for a refresher.
Thank you so much for your advice. I'm in my sewing studio today and followed your tip of marking the hole placement on the tool. It worked!!!🎉😊
Perfect timing. Just finished cutting out the Chalk and Notch Page Hoodie. Thank you!
Wonderful!
Awesome tutorial 🎉🎉🎉 thank you
Thank you so much for this video. I bought the same kit previously but I couldn't figure out how to do it. Your lesson was perfectly timed.
Great job!
Thank you! Cheers!
I use little squares of very lightweight ripstop fabric, like you make kites out of. On Amazon, I bought asst of 1 yard pieces in many colors. I also use it to reinforce shoulders, buttons.
Thanks for the refresh. I have not had a lot of luck with grommets but O was using the really small eyelet ones. I have some 1/2 in h ones I want to use on a jacket so now I am not afraid!
Excellent
Thank you! Cheers!
Thanks for remaking this video.
It was an ordeal with a weird high frequency in the last video. Oh well 😁
Thank you, for the information, I’m doing my first hoody and joggers and I have never used grommets
Have fun!
Thank you So much for this video! I’ve been nervous about doing grommets. So informative. 🫣🌺
Great video. Thank you very much🙏🤗
Thank you so much for this fantastic tip!!!
You are so welcome!
What a wonderful video! Thank you. I think I will subscribe.
I am about to install some grommets tomorrow. A timely video...
Awesome 😀
Great lesson, thank you.
Thank you, Karina!
When I want a little hole i use a paper punch that they use for holes on paper... works on fabric too
Brilliant TU
Hi thank you for this tutorial , how do you make the cords please ❤
Thanks Karina.
Can you please make a tutorial on the GBSB Walkaway dress free pattern.
I made it, but im struggling on how to adjust the bust darts to my measurements
Hi Jenny. I’m not able to accommodate requests for specific patterns. Especially if the style is not one I would wear (the vintage vibe is not for me). The dress has a very full skirt and I really don’t feel great in a full skirt. I’m flooded with requests and there’s one way I could do it. I hope you understand.
Drat. I did grommet-type snaps years ago, so I have the one tool that you hammer. I must have lost the piece that you set the base grommet onto. Or maybe, for snaps there was only the one.
Where can I buy the tools or the pliers?
What do u think about the hole plier and grommet puncher I that is what it’s called so you want have to hammer
I can’t say. I’ve never used it not can i buy those tools here.
You have saved my hoody from the bin
Where did you buy your draw strings
I didn’t buy most of them. They are cords I repurposed from my sons old hoodies. Some I’ve made from the same fabric I’m making the garment with.
my grommets always turn out all crimped and not smooth on the backside , i’m using a different tool. what am i doing wrong?
Also struggling w this!
I’m really trying to find a inch or two and can’t find them for nothing
a inch or two of what? I cant see how your comment pertains to grommets.
