Laura - This video is almost 7 years old, but it was SO helpful!!! I watched many UA-cam videos trying to figure out how on earth to attach snaps to a quilted jacket, and your instructions were SO clear and easy to follow. Your teaching style addresses all learning modes - visual, auditory and kinesthetic. You are my "go to" when I need to learn any new sewing or quilting method. THANK YOU!!!
Acabo de verlo y me ha solucionado una gran duda que no me dejaba avanzar en mi proyecto. Tienes razón, Bárbara. Han pasado casi 7 años y sigue siendo muy útil y claro. Como todos los vídeos que realiza Laura. Bravo!
08-16-2020: This tutorial was extremely thorough and interesting to watch. I now know how to utilize the multiple of snaps I have in my stash. Thank you.
Just watched your little vid on applying snap fasteners, you make it look so easy. You've absolutely filled me with confidence. I'm now going to buy that jacket I love the look of which is open fronted. I need to be able to do it up so I'll get some snaps and pliers and resolve the issue! Thank you Laura😀
Thanks so much! I couldn't find helpful instructions on how to use the Sewology snap tool from Hobby Lobby anywhere, including the package it came in! I've never worked with snaps before and every other tutorial I could find didn't use supplies that looked like mine. After watching this, I successfully put snaps on a crochet sweater for the first time and they look great. Appreciate it 🖤
I love you dearly...lol my daughter gave me a jacket to fix.. this video was a blessing because I had no clue how to install the new snaps thank you so much!
GREAT TUTORIAL! Thank you. You took something everyone else has made look so difficult to something very simple. You explained each piece, what it does, and how to use it.....that is what sets you heads above the rest! I am now a subscriber
Thank you my lady well I got my snaps sets delivered today and I find you so perfect explain in very good American English which is similar to English in London very well teach like when I was in college that is the way you learn no confusion what so ever I must appreciate you guidence you are number diez means you on top thanks from the bottom of my heart ❤️ and happy new year and I said hello from London and cali Colombia Amen 🙏
thank you so much!! your video was so clear and understandable. its probably the 8th tutorial i have watched on snaps and you finally cleared up my confusion!! -I had inherited my moms snap kits and i had 3 or 4 diffferent tools to put snaps on. I had no idea they all use different snap kits and I have several times tried to tackle these and figure out how they worked. I know now I have broken one of them and now don't have the snaps for the pliers. no wonder the pliers never seemed to put the snaps on right. Again thanks so much! -20 year seemstress who had never tackled putting snaps on but has decided she hates putting buttons on.
Always hard this tool but nobody showed me how to use it. Seeing you do it, wow didn’t know it works like that. So glad you illustrate it so well....love your ur videos. So inspiring for me, and now I can see if I can do these little suckers and put them together....🌹❤️🌹❤️
Thank you so much! I have the same snap fastener you have in your video and didn't know how to operate it. It didn't come with any visuals on the packaging, which would have helped tremendously! I wanted to put snaps on some kitchen towels after watching someone do it on youtube in just five minutes. Well, 25 minutes later I was finally successful, after breaking one snap in the process. At least I was able to figure out which piece belonged where with your video, so thank you Laura!
Thank you. I have a Velcro armband that holds my work ID. The hooks have mostly fallen out of the Velcro. This was an excellent fix for my problem. I installed two of the male sides, so that I could adjust it if I want to wear a jacket.
Thank you for this video and the one on grommets and eyelets. I've stayed away from all of these in the past but now that you've shown how easy it is, I'm going to start using them when I need to. I love all of your videos because your teaching is so easy to understand.
Gracias por tu video..... no entiendo ingles pero con tu explicacion mas que suficiente muy bien explicado y estoy muy contenta por aberte encontrado ningun video avia explicado como tu, mil gracias de nuevo.
Thank you. I was looking to see if i could use a crop a dial for snaps, i guess not. Trying to make a strap to hold masks on without hurting my ears and for my son who has hearing aids and glasses. I bought snaps with a little thing in the kit to put them on with, but the print on the instructions was too small to read! I tried to guess... mangled the setter tool. Then watching you, realized somewhere i have that metal setting tool. It was a pain so i bought the crop a dial. I remember now that i got it for the eyelets for card making. I tried to figure out the snaps using it, but just kept dropping it. Well thank you for a great video. Very helpful!
Great video. What brand is the last section of video with blue handled pliers? I cannot find 10mm pliers for snaps like the ones you have demonstrated. Thank you! Jennifer
@@SewVeryEasy i need it for buttons like yours but i have the a%attach.ents for buttons, what the name of yours so i can buy it, i didnt know it wouldnt work for clothes. Thank you for the tip about adding reinforcement to where buttons go, it makes sense that alot of those areas rip when using snaps alot.
Thank you Laura. I bought some eyelets in the summer and my practice pieces were awful so I abandoned the project for a rainy day. I think the rainy day just got here.
My problem is getting the one with the prongs attached to the onw with the hole, I can never get the prongs in, it slides and never attaches, have bought several tool kits even the pliers, but the item has to stay in the handle of the plier which doesnt happen, it falls out
I should have gotten this set. I waited 1 week to get one in the mail with a vice grip handle. But on my outfit I don"t need the snaps near the "Edge", so the fabric is way too thick to fit in between the handle.😢
Idk if you can answer this but quick question. Can i be able to use these buttons on rubber? About 1/4 a inch of rubber. Im trying to make this braclet made of of rubber and can be clipped on. If not those buttons do you have any other suggestions?
What kind of pliers are you using? Also, do you know of any snaps that would go through Velcro, lining, and outer shell? It’s a dogs coat and the Velcro is worn out
Hello. I recently started sewing and wanted to know how snaps were applied because I didn't want to be scared of them. Thank you for clearing up the confusion I had about applying them.
I have that snap tool that was either my moms or older sister left it at my house. I dont have the plastic inserts that go into the snap tool however. Do you know where I can get some? My tool was made in Japan so I think it is sort of old. Would dritz plastic inserts work for it? Thanks for your prompt consideration.
It is very hard for me to say. I would bring that tool into a fabric store and see if they will open a package for you to see if it will fit. Good luck
I'm trying to make blackout curtains for my bedroom, and I'm trying to think of a way to attach the liner to the front curtain without sewing them together. Do you think the heavy duty snaps along the top of the curtain panel will be able to hold both pieces of fabric together, or do you think the weight of the curtains will pull the snaps out?
SewVeryEasy they are tab top curtains. there is a two inch border at the top of the curtains with a double layer of fabric, and then the tabs that will slide onto the curtain rods. So I was thinking of putting big snaps underneath each tab, so the tab and snap align, to connect the two layers. The curtains are pretty heavy, but then again, this is my first time working with curtains so I don't know if the weight is normal or not...
This is useful but there is an error in this in the demo using the plier. Initially you show the 4 pieces arranged correctly but when you actually do the demonstration with the dritz pliers (I have this style) you are using the "stud" piece which belongs to the post with the cap piece. The four pieces are cap and socket and post and stud. However, the stud does work with the cap and I hope to use this for a snap at the top of a purse where I want a nice finish on both sides of the purse. I have made the "Trendy Hipster Bag" from the Style and Swing book by Susan Dunlop. Images for this bag can be seen by searching "style and swing." Still haven't had the the nerve to punch the holes but your video is the best.
I have some rompers that I want to do this for... I’m so tired of having to remove the entire thing to use the bathroom, if the fabric is chiffon, do you know if I should use a fabric in between when putting these on?
I would recommend it, however, I am not too sure that the fabric is strong enough. lease test on out first. You can get a snap tape that might be better
Thanks for the video. I've always wanted to make purses, but I've been hesitant because I didn't know how to make the closure. I'm on my way to try a purse project!
+Sammy Jo I would use the small snaps that you sew on. In this video I put on a large snap, but it the same to sew on a small one. Hope this helps. ua-cam.com/video/m7Zs6C8HD_Q/v-deo.html

I never could install snaps. I even checked the company’s website. It is not helpful, but this explains it perfectly! Thank you!
Great video. Thank you. Which style would you recommend for heavier fabric? The bigger the snap the stronger it is? Thanks

Good explanation
Which snap button is the best to use?
Please suggest
Thank you for this video! Will these go through thick material with foam interfacing? Thank you!
What's the name of your tool?
Thank you for the video. Can you tell me the large snap fastner tool you showed. I am looking for this one and can't find it.

@@SewVeryEasy Yes.

Is it possible to do this with materials like synthetic silver leather?

Hi,
Did you order your snap set from a website?
Fabulous tutorial! I really want to make an infant onesie as a gift-now I have the confidence to install the snaps. Thank you🌷
Thank you so much. I have my mom's older hammer Dot set, your video helped me ALOT💗.
What if you have 1/2" of leather to go thru?
Can you possibly tell me how far apart you put each snap fastener down the front of a shirt or apron? Would it be 1/2 inch apart or gaps?
Thanks Laura I used to always put snaps on no problem. Now they seem to be such a problem for me
Thank you ma'am. You explained stuff very clearly.
Hi, the peacock quilt hanging in your wall is so pretty and so amazing
thanks:)
Are these suitable for more delicate fabrics?
LOVE!! Thank you! Best video on this. Helps so much!

What is interfacing and how would one use it when attaching the first kind of snap you show (the one you flatten with a hammer)?

Why would you use metal over plastic snaps? My daughter wants to make a choker out of material and she needs a snap in the back.
Nice thorough job! Even I think I might be able to do this LOL
Hey, thank you. You really make this look easy.
Three different styles… heard light weight fabric for first snaps are other snaps more heavy duty… doggie bandanas?
