I've struggled with eczema for over 20 years and have been able to get rid of it, when I saw a naturopath. She prescribed certain probiotics and psyllium husk for my colon. She said eczema comes from a lack or overpopulation of certain bacteria in our colon and these bacteria cause inflammation, which then shows up on the skin. My eczema literally dried up after 2-3 months. Have been eczema free since 2018.

I took the psyllium twice a day with a usual glass of water (preferably cold or room temperature, NOT WARM) and just mixed it in. It's an advantage, when the psyllium is as finely milled as possible. And I would drink it as fast as I could. Psyllium, just like chia for instance, swell up in water. Better drink it fast or you are left with very goopy water reminiscent of tapestry glue 😬 I did that for at least 3 months.

Oh my goodness, Cass! I can't thank you enough. I'm so happy with this video. Excema, just like acne, is a struggle to find something that fits! I've been bullied because of having a red and scaly face as a kid. Mostly, you get heavy hormone creams to help it, but it makes it even dryer! Welcome to scratch town....
I'm going to try some things and see if I don't want to scratch my skin off for once. Mostly looking at the body items since my face care is doing alright.
I've been using a lot of Korean skincare (pyunkan yul or isntree) without fragrance and with ceremides. Those are usually good for me. Just need a ton of thick moisturisers to keep it happy.

As a sufferer of hand eczema and frequent contact dermatitis - I LOVE this video. I often have to leave the house with gloves if there’s a bad flare up that’s cracked and bloody, which makes me look crazy. I HIGHLY recommend Vanicream and Eucerin Eczema relief as they’re both thick creams that absorb well. I use Vanicream every time I wash my hands (which is A LOT some days) and it helps keep most flare ups at bay.

The gloves! I feel so seen lol trying to bring back the 50s trend of wearing gloves out so I don’t look so weird. Dishydrotic eczema on the hands is RIDICULOUS. Like, could it be in anymore of an inconvenient place? Toes & eyelids would definitely suck too, but you use your hands for everything and have to wash them constantly. Which Vanicream do you use? The anti-itch one or just the moisturizing ointment?

Even something as simple as hand soap 😔 it’s so bad when I’m out at a someone’s house and they have dreaded bath and body works soap - just using that once or twice destroys my hands for weeks. Did you experience it for the first time recently? Or something you've had for several years back now? COVID is also causing eczema in Long term presentations after initially asymptomatic and undetected contraction! But I personally get similar issues and break outs with my IVIG infusion too. (Blood plasma product made from donated blood supply and the antibodies of those donors are maintained and infused with it. It's very similar to antibody therapy) so that totally makes sense as well.

@@ParanormalTVptv for real! I'm actually on IVIG and dupixent for my allergy disorder that also cause a lot of my skin allergy issues, too. It's like we fix one aspect of the idiopathic anaphylaxis internally just to have it show up topically from the IVIG. Once we added the dupixent doubled dosage, it started helping the reactions from ivig and has helped stop most of the hot flushing I used to get. The flushing was one of the most uncomfortably annoying things I used to deal with prior, but it was just annoying more than anything and seemed miniscule compared to the internal reactions. So glad it's not nearly as bad with each additional treatment I have though. It would just feel like I was in fire all the time like a bad sunburn. I hope you and your body will start to tolerate it better with time, too! It's def worth it in the long run!

Cassandra, thank you for this video. I love that you added how painful and itchy eczema is. Too many people don't take it seriously and think it is a cosmetic issue. Second: thank you for these suggestions, I wrote them down on paper because I will try them one day. I have found that I personally cannot tolerate different products at different phases or times. For example: if my skin is in an extreme flare-up, the only thing I can use is Aloe vera. Which initially can be very drying, but after a few days greatly reduces weeping, and flaking. Other times, I can tolerate more products, one day or season something might work, and another day it won't. When I have dyshidrotic and or nummular eczema on the hand's "Shi Zen Gao soothing ointment" works miracles. I'm sorry but I have to add: If you have eczema flares please use a spoon or small spatula to get body butter or creams out of tubs. Sticking fingers (-even after washing hands) can cause bacteria etc to get into these tubs of product and grow. People with eczema often have colonies of staph on the skin and are very prone to staph infections.

I can share some shampoo brands that I use and have used that helped a lot!
And if you are using oils and such do make sure not to touch your scalp with it. Since the bacteria there love to eat the oil and cause more flaking.

As someone who is always having moderate to severe outbreaks, I love learning more about products that can help. Yes, it's about diet and taking care of yourself, but having good products is so important. The only unfortunate thing is that I'm allergic to oats, and therefore, most 'eczema' branded items are just not viable options. I'm so glad to find something new. Thank you so much for all of your hard work making this video.

I had eczema in the eye area this winter, a dermatologist told me to put cotton pats soaked with black tea on my eyes for ten minutes. It was really good to support the healing (besides I used an eye cream with cortisone). It helps cooling down the skin which stops the itching, delivers moisture into the skin and soothes it. I think it works because of the antioxidants of the black tea. Nevertheless its important to see a doctor to get a proper diagnose.

Who else felt the urge to scratch during this entire video...
I have pretty mild flares usually, but right now I'm struggling with eczema in my scalp, and not along the hairlines... Nope. Right on the top, and several patches all under the hair... It's really fun to try to get in there with a steroid treatment...
And I've also got a nice flare right on my collar bone. On one hand it's good that it's cold, and I can naturally cover it up with clothes, on the other, the rubbing of the fabric itches.
But thank you, Cassandra, for making this video and fokus on this skin issue as well.
I live in Norway, so I'm not sure I can easily get hold of any of your recommendations, but I love a Scandinavian product line called Decubal. Their Lip and Dry Spot Balm has been a lifesaver! They're not vegan, though, since they use both lanolin and bees wax in their products. But they work so well!

Just like all other forms of eczema, its mast cell activation pathogenesis!!!! I know it sounds weird, but have you looked into the OTC options like Ketotifen fumarate eye drops and/or nasal crom nose spray and used topically instead of their intended use as a nose spray or eye drop? You just mix them with glycerin and a good thick sensitive skin lotion like cerave or the ceramides Cassandra mentioned and use them on your skin where you have patches or flares on your body. Like you can totally use the the Shi Zen Gao cream you mentioned with the recipe in place of the Eucerin, too! The results from the repurposed OTC nasalcrom or Ketotifen eyedrops mixed with the lotion and glycerin is amazing when used on your skin at the spots you get during eczema breakouts !!
I'm on a biologic, too, but this has been the only way I've gotten everything completely cleared up!
Here's a publication that's been replicated over hundreds of times and confirmed in efficacy for atopic dermatitis and psoriasis! (As well as rocesa, KP, and dermatographia, and other allergy-like topical reactions )
      pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.g ov/9860040/
theres one recipe I have had the best results with over others.. You should be able to google: "magic masto lotion recipe "(in collaboration with the eczema association). and figure out the options available in your location and the recipe adaption for those items available near you!!

I Have used hydrocortisone cream on my skin for my eczema for years. The tube says use for only up to one week but it is the only thing I can rely on to prevent a flare up! I have no idea if this will cause long term effects on my skin though but I have tried to stop using it before and my skin ALWAYS becomes dry, itchy and flaky so I end up going back

It will unfortunately thin your skin over time. Try some of these other techniques mentioned in the video. Look into hypochlorous acid spray-it’s a highly effective antiseptic spray! My dermatologist highly recommends it for eczema flares. Good luck!

    • @celestinahuang3483
      @celestinahuang3483 2 роки тому +2

Yeah unfortunately it will. It thins your skin if u apply it consistently and you can develop an addiction and tolerance. While I think it's safe to use sparingly and short term in small amounts it's not something I'd recommend and this is coming from someone who used to use low to mid potency topical steroids. Eczema is caused by either deficiencies, dysbiosis or allergies so I think it's best to get these checked so u can heal ur eczema from the root cause.
Since u mentioned ur skin will always flare up again the moment you stop hydrocortisone i believe that's a sign of addiction to the drug which I'm familiar with. I wonder if you heard of topical steroid withdrawal?

    • @littleboots9800
      @littleboots9800 2 роки тому +1

Look up Steroid Withdrawal Syndrome. It is horrendous. Never use steroid creams to prevent, only to treat. As soon as you have got the flares gone stop them recurring with hydrating skin and applying emollients.
If you have eczema your skin barrier is damaged so through the little holes in the barrier, stuff like allergens get in and a flare starts. Keep your barrier intact by constant use of emollients.
Also fix your gut. Take a GOOD QUALITY probiotic.

@@tish1303 Hey sorry for the late response. I can't remember what caused the reaction. I think it was titanium or nickle that caused the reaction based on studies and based on my reaction wearing belts.
I would go with stainless steel. Because I can't remember I would say the best option is plastic. When I got older I couldn't remember so I just purchased plastic glasses.
It also helped because the nose guard was built in. I didn't have to worry about it breaking off, which caused major swelling and pus on my nose at one point in my life and temples at another point.
I would recommend maybe doing the allergy skin patch test to determine which metal is a trigger or even possibly plastic. You never know with skin allergies. For me, anything can be a trigger. 🤣😂😅
      Hope this helps! 😊

Im literally having a flare up of dyshidrotic dermatitis right now because im stressing about life stuff and work. Ive been dealing with it for a total of 10 years so far. Its not so bad on my hands, but the blisters have started to spread to my wrist and even occasionally on my forearms.
I mainly get the itchy blisters, dry and cracked skin, and inflammation on my feet, especially the heels where there's a lot of friction from my socks and shoes. It was a lot worst years ago when women were required to wear nylons at my work. But ive started slathering up in non-water based creams (because water makes them worst) and getting some sunlight because that helps seems to help. I also need to lower my intake of sweets and increase my veggie intake (im an unhealthy, lazy, tired vegan.)

Tbh there's a lot of videos about what products are good for eczema in terms of dryness and protecting the skin but not very many about how to take of the itchiness itself. Most derms and docs will prescribe topical steroids creams which great but most advise you not to use it on your face which doesn't help. I've had all my life and have tried a lot. The best thing to treat the itches on the face that I've treat is the mother of all cream (earthy one), which is face for the face (of course patch test) and really eases the itchiness! I've recommended to many and they all love it. The best otc hydrocortisone I've had the best of luck with is the cortizone 10 for eczema. Also coldness easy the itchiness so if you're really feeling try putting a ice bag or take a cold shower.

When COVID started her school said she would be required to use alcohol based hand sanitizer multiple times a day, which would have been like torture. The school and I were never able to come to an agreement on a path forward and I have since been homeschooling her (in year 2 currently) I’m willing to try anything because the medical community has offered few options

I ended up just making a skincare routine for my body and I haven't had as bad of breakouts since then. I still get them and keep things like what you show on hand but it's been so nice not to have my skin look like it's falling off every time the weather changes lol

Hi Cassandra! Thanks for this great video. My 12 year old daughter was just started on Dupixent for a really bad eczema flair. That Josie Maran body butter looks amazing! We'll have to give that a try.
