I have numerous bags, including those with waist belts, sling bags, and now am using a sling bag as a "fanny pack" waist bag, taking the strap and shortening it so it functions like a belt. Completely eliminates any strain on my back and allows for hiking, climbing, and city street shooting without a heavy pack around my back. This solution for those with smaller cameras, such as the sony A6700 (APSC) and up to two lenses. Such waist beltpacks also allow for you to bring water and a few accessories.
OMG Thank you so much for posting this video, this entirely solved my problem with the Peak design 3L sling as I was trying to sort out if I needed a 6L to fit my A7III with a 55ZA attached and still be able to put another prime lens inside. Seems a 3L is enough to do the job.
I feel like this mans main issue getting in the way of choosing a great bag is that he primarily thinks the bag has to be on his chest, dont be afraid to shift the bag to your side or back when your not shooting
I was surprised to see that too.. that he was trying to wear it on the chest only. I actually never thought of that. I slide it forward only when I need.
@@ridgefield he likely has more experience on a third world country than both of you lol I was born and grew up in Brazil and wearing it in the back there you would come back home without your camera. Even backpacks there I wear it in my chest.
Nice for a big comparison... But if you're wearing slings on front, aren't you doing it wrong? Aren't they used to fit snug on your back and then 'sling' it to the front when you want access? And funny to see how you want smaller straps, while I have used quite a few slings with simple and small straps and I'm done with them cutting in my shoulder / neck.
The idea of Magnetic Release clasps are good if you're wondering around the countryside photographing landscapes and dairy cows...but, if you're an urban photographer, it's about the last thing you would want on your camera bag! One quick (and not so hard) yank, and your bag is GONE! Definitely a non-starter.
As a countryside photographer, I completely agree! I love having the ease and speed of magnetic clasps. You really can’t beat them for convenience. I think we need more of them on bags. Can’t comment on the urban crime aspect, but the magnet clasps that I’ve seen on things like bags and helmets need a very specific sideways movement to release them, not just a quick yank.
do you think the AER city sling can fit a 20k power bank, sony a6400 with 16 50 kit lens, iphone 11 pro, wallet, key and some cables? or could the day sling be better for that?
I do a lot of cycling and wanted an easy way to get to my A6400. The Wandrd was on my list. But you convinced me otherwise! It would just get in the way.
Not sure why you would go for a slim strap from the start, you're going to be carrying weight around your shoulders and over your back, a wide strap spreads that out and stops the strap digging in. My personal favourite is an alpine Lowe, I can get my a7ii in it with a metabones and 24-105f4L on it or if I take the lens off I can get a 1dxII, 24-105f4L and a speedlight 430exIII RT in it.
You sir, the hero we need but not the one we deserve. One thing i must say, the peak design everyday 3l does leave a weird shoulder ache for me while carrying it for the whole day(with just my A7iii+zeiss55mm) something i dont get with any other camera sling bags even with heavier loads. Therefore I'm selling away my peak design 3l
Wow shocked about the Aer!!! I have an Aer sling, can not remember the model, it is a few years old. It won't fit my a6600 and lens. I remember reading that it would fit somewhere so I took the chance. Tempted to order the AER. I really think the bellroy one would work well but for some reason I am not a fan of the look of it. I love the alpaka ones I have been looking at but I don't think most of the medium sized ones would work with the mirrorless set up.
Have you looked into the Hex Ranger Mini Sling? It is 2.5l and fits my a7rIV with a lens attached. I’d be interested in a comparison against the peak design 3l.
Anyone find a good small type of bag or sling that is somewhat suitable for a camera? Like with some padding? I’m looking for a small everyday bag maybe 1.5-3L to fit my Xt30 and a couple small things like keys and air pods but it’s been so hard to find a small bag that has some type of protection for my camera. Have any of you guys found a way around that maybe some padding inserts or something?
I contacted Aer and they say the Sony A6xxx series won’t fit inside the city sling with a lens. Could you provide more details on how you fit your a6600?
Peak Sling bags have many features and options for how you might want to carry your camera, you should try then. Man the 3L bag is not that big. I own one and have a medium format camera, good size and do not a smaller bag. When traveling and hiking the 3L is WAY to small. A 10L will fit the camera two Lens, a jacket JIC and some basic nutrition. It is a lot better than traveling with a 20L + all day while on vacation.
I feel the exact same way about the peak design bag. It is great but I wish there was something similar that was just a step smaller to carry only my xpro3 and a small prime lens but i cannot seem to find anything. The Aer city sling is too small and the peak design 3L a bit too big. Let me know if you ever find something that finds that happy medium
You've said exactly what I'm thinking about - it would be nice to have something like Peak Design 3L but smaller for Sony A7 with a lens on. And maybe room for a phone and powerbank. What's your bag for Sony A7+24GM?
I'm going to be traveling to Europe this August, and I will be carrying a GoPro Hero 11 with shorty grip, a few extra GoPro batteries, GoPro dual charger with cable, my iPhone 14 Pro, power bank & charging cable, and Sony a6500 paired with an 18-105 f/4 Sony lens and a few extra batteries, my passport and wallet with RFID blocking sleeves, and sunglasses. Amazingly, I'm currently able to fit all of this gear in a simple Adidas rope bag. However, I'm looking for something more anti-theft and that can be worn in the front and has a minimal look while riding the metro in larger European cities. Do you have any recommendations?
I know this is an old video but - Great little bag but there is no way @bellroy the Lite Sling Mini is 4L. 170x200x70mm = 2.38 L that's why it feels same/smaller than the Aer. Also the dimensions of the Aer give it a volume of 330x120x90mm = 3.5L
Great video! Looking for a sling for the new Sony a7c which is much smaller than a7 iii and resembles a6500 body. Ideally, would like to carry a7c with kit lens + 50mm F1.4 lens. Hmu if you have any suggestions! So far, most convinced on the Belroy mini.
Hey man! I just bought myself the a7c and now I'm looking for a bag to easily carry it around. Can you recommend the belroy mini for the s7c? I hope you can share some experience and I'm looking forward to hearing from you.
I have $4 2.5L bag for xt20, 56mm,23mmf2, 1 battery When i have to carry more, i turn my 14inch leather messenger bag into cam bag with removable padding
This comment is 3 years old, so I'm sure you already know the answer. But for the record, yes it can fit, but there is actually no slot in the bag to fit an iPad mini. In order to fit the iPad mini, you would have to remove the divider and just put in the main compartment.
i'm interested in the incase. can u tell me more about the internal padding? is there any? is kind of secure? my idea was to use it as a camera insert for travel and then take it out when i start to take pictures wearing it on my waist, so that i can pull in and out quickly the camera
It comes with two removable internal dividers. One is mounted horizontally to keep your gear from bouncing around if it doesn't fill the height of the bag.
Why not a Thinktank PhotoCross 10 or 15 or Turnstyle 5, 10, 20 or Urban Access 8 or 10 which to me are sling bags I recommend to people. The ones you have chosen seem really small. Also I know LowePro makes some too as well as Tenba. Also it appears like you don't want a bag that is actually a sling you put on your back and then swing around to gain access to? You appear to want it on your chest. I think some of the bags with the larger straps are meant for your back and don't want to give you strap that digs into your shoulder.
Does the a6400 with 16-50 kit lens and smallrig cage can fit in the aer city sling? or someone here have a aer city sling and a6400 with kit lens only , yet I'm still on the verge on deciding to buy street wear style sling bag( like aer city sling) when I do street photography in the future.
Great video! So for an a7iii with one or two lenses, have you tried the AER Day Sling 2? In theory since it's 4,5L i'd be perfect as it's not as big as the 7L Bellroy, but should maybe fit full frame unlike the City sling. Thoughts?
Bart de Graaff I have both slings and you are right, city sling is perfect small stuff and for slightly larger gear the day sling 2 works perfect and doesn’t feel heavy at all
I bought City Sling after this video cause i thought will fit my Leica Q. It was fit, but really tight and have to detach my strap. Sold it after that. Curious though about the day sling, friend said it fits x100 really comfort
@@ElmarJournal take the straps of and use something like a wrist or hand strap, they don't take that much space. Hanging the camera from your neck or shoulders has no use for a small compact if you already have a sling hanging from your shoulders, right?

Your video was recommended by YT, and it helped me a ton. I was debating on getting the Aer City Sling as just a day pack, but wasn’t sure if it would fit my X-T200, so I started looking at the Hex Ranger Mini. Looks like the City Sling will work perfectly. Thank you!
Like and subbed, You're funny and I can yell You're not even trying to be 😆....I have a a6600 and the sigma 16 30 and 56, I love the city bag is that too small for my kit?
Looking at getting a sling bag for my trip to Europe! You released this at a perfect time! Thank you! I’ll buy the Wandrd sling from you! I’m serious! Think I can fit a canon m50 with 15-45 + sunglasses?
I think it would fit as long as your sunglasses case isn't too big. Just tested it and the wandrd fits the same M6II+32mm+Sunglasses combo that I put in the bellory mini in the video.
@@devanshkulshreshtha2465 I love it! All videos in my channel were shot using the canon m50.. I just recently learned how to upscale in post and I am pleased with the quality even more!

I personally use the Pro Camera Sling Bag from Instinct London as my camera bag, fitting my Sony A7III and 2 more lens. Got it from their Kickstarter Campaign. Very tough waterproof materials and construction.
Great video Ben. Nice and thorough, with a good variety of real world examples. Would the A7iii fit in either the Aer or Bellroy 4l bags if it were fitted with a pancake lens like the Sony 35mm 2.8? Sitting upright vs putting it in sideways grip up? Hope that makes sense :)
@@bmmedia3943 Hey, I did end up going with the Aer City sling, which worked as expected and should be able to fit your combo. But, I have since sold it, and moved to a Heimplanet Transit Sling as my compact everyday solution. A couple of reasons for that: it’s more compact and “cleaner” in design imo and I also moved to the A7c which will still fit in there with a compact lens. It’s a tighter fit, but I don’t use it with that bag too often, as I also have a Ricoh GR series camera for EDC. The Heimplanet is nice and compact, but can hold my wallet, keys, phone, AirPods , GR, and some other small pieces, without being bulky. If I put the Sony in there, usually it’s my wallet and a small set of keys, with my phone in my pocket. I also have a Peak Design 5L sling for when I want I’m out on a more photo centric outing. With those two, I found that the Aer was left out, so sold it. It was a nice and well made bag, so depending on your needs, it could be perfect.
@@craig_cunha Thanks for the info! Really appreciate it. I since ordered both the Bellroy Venture 6L and Moment Fanny sling since the internet had me so unsure of what would work :P So we'll see. The Heimplanet and its XL version sound really solid, may have to try those as well! Thanks again.
@@P1n3apqlExpr3ss no don't buy it! I got a peak design sling bag instead so much better can store sony a7iii with kit lens on and one other lens probably another 24-70 max
I like zippers that don't zip easily. If someone is unzipping my bag, I want to be able to feel it. It the zippers are so loose that you can't even feel someone unzipping your bag, then I don't think that's good.
Ben, even before to watch the whole video, I have to say it. You deserve more subs. Nice video, style and most of all, voice.

Ben Bjurstrom thanks! I just ordered it! Excited to use it in Europe!
I'm planning to buy a m50 and I wanted to know how was your experience with the camera
@@devanshkulshreshtha2465 I love it! All videos in my channel were shot using the canon m50.. I just recently learned how to upscale in post and I am pleased with the quality even more!
@@JonImperial and in terms of photography

I personally use the Pro Camera Sling Bag from Instinct London as my camera bag, fitting my Sony A7III and 2 more lens. Got it from their Kickstarter Campaign. Very tough waterproof materials and construction.
Great video Ben. Nice and thorough, with a good variety of real world examples.
Would the A7iii fit in either the Aer or Bellroy 4l bags if it were fitted with a pancake lens like the Sony 35mm 2.8? Sitting upright vs putting it in sideways grip up? Hope that makes sense :)
Hey did you ever try either bag out? I'm hoping to find a similar solution with my a7iii and 40mm 2.5
@@bmmedia3943 no worries. Good luck with your search! Remember, there is no perfect bag lol 😆
@@craig_cunha That's a good reminder! hahah
You should try Aer Day Sling
great, vid! very informative!
Just ordered the aer sling v2 for my sony sony a7iii with a 24-70mm lens it's not going to fit is it 🤣
Did it fit? I'm thinking about that for my A7C + 28-200
@@P1n3apqlExpr3ss no don't buy it! I got a peak design sling bag instead so much better can store sony a7iii with kit lens on and one other lens probably another 24-70 max
@@Chuckmanyoudonut appreciate the heads up! Which size Peak Design did you go for?
Go to ,China and they will design and manufacturer a bag that you want. Seems like mi bag is good enough .
I like zippers that don't zip easily. If someone is unzipping my bag, I want to be able to feel it. It the zippers are so loose that you can't even feel someone unzipping your bag, then I don't think that's good.
