If the command isn't working, you have an addon that automatically does it, or did it in the past. Use the reset command in the description below to test for yourself.
Confirmed both commands are working, and are NOT default on 25th July, 2024.
Zoom Out More:
/console cameraDistanceMaxZoomFactor 2.6
default is 1.9
Zoom Smoothing:
/console CameraReduceUnexpectedMovement 1
default is 0
Reset ALL CVars (this will reset any settings you've changed in Blizzard menus or in commands)
/console cvar_default
This video talks about two camera commands to use in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight that let you zoom out more, and also zoom the camera more smoothly. The camera commands zoom you out farther in Dragonflight and can be reset at any time with the commands in the description.
World of Warcraft: Dragonflight is the upcoming ninth expansion pack for the massively multiplayer online role-playing game World of Warcraft, following Shadowlands. It was announced in April 2022, and the release date is November 28th, 2022.

Thank you for this! I've been trying to find a way to zoom out a little more (I mean, as a tank, when surrounded by mobs I can barely see anything on the screen, so it's a bit ridiculous)

Yes, 2.6 is the furthest you can zoom out as of 10.2.5. It is equivelent to 39 yards. The console will allow values higher than 2.6, but will ignore those values and default to the max setting of 39 yards.
Didn't work for me (January 8). Tried both with and without addons. Tried copy/paste from the description and tried to type it in manually. Tried to reset it as well and start from scratch but nothing happens. Used to run a command similar to this in BFA and it was awesome to have that extra zoom distance. Not sure what I might be doing wrong this time around.

Try doing the reverse of what this CS response is here. I think the first time you try to run a script you’re asked if you want to enable potentially dangerous scripts and if you click No that very first time it doesn’t ever ask you again it just prevents all scripts.
Let me know if it works or not, and disclaimer make sure to use the cvar reset commands to fix anything that could’ve potentially broke if this doesn’t work.

try a higher factor than 2.6 like 4 or 5
edit: i say this because i recently deleted my congif file and when i launched and it made a new one, 2.6 didn't work for me, but 4 did. I never looked at my old config file to compare, but maybe it was writing to it differently. I dunno

Just tested both in game (Dec. 5th, 1:31am) and they both work. With addons, without addons, just make sure you're not copying an extra space when pasting the prompt. Maybe also try setting it back to 1.9, and zooming, then set it back to 2.6 and see if there's a difference.

how come m old characters are zoomed out much more and my main atm feels zoomed in??
you used to be able to zoom out a lot farther, if you log in to a very old character, it will still be zoomed out a ton. but the second you try to adjust your zoom it will snap back to within current limits

Douse this apply of I can't zoom out only in
if that happens it means you have overlapping keybinds, or you have one of the scroll wheel remapped in another software. this is all assuming the mouse is working properly

Thanks for the tip! Btw do you know what command to type in to turn off camera clashing with the ground when you turn your camera angle downward? I don't remember there being the case as before when I tried to tilt my camera downward to the ground it would zoom in to the character instead of physically hitting the ground before facing the moon instead.
Heyo, yea that’s the default camera setting now. However you can restore it to the old way using the command
/console cameraPivot 0

yep, every so often it bugs out and lets you do more, but they usually fix it within days

Just got this and it makes things so much easier to adjust.
Noticed you switched from AtrocityUI to NaowhUI. You really like it better?
So I switched to being a tank pretty much 100% of the time and imo the Naowh UI design and frequency of updates lends more to what I want out of it.
I think they're both great, but AUI is definitely more dps-centric and often times the tank/healer specs get a little less attention. Also I play many alts while also have a heavily constricting schedule so I wanna do as least things as possible when it comes to my UI, and AUI doesn't update nearly as fast as I would like, Naowh had his UI up and running on day 1 of pre-patch, and some classes get updates every day or two as new things arise.
They're both still great tho, and I think UI ultimately depends on the individual, but this is just why I personally swapped. Might swap back later on who knows.

Just tested, it still works. If it doesn’t work you’re probably already at max, try setting the value very low and see if it makes a difference. Then set it back to max and see what changed

@Tuco Salamanca Aight we're talking about someone who didn't know how to make the camera move. Default is mouse wheel scroll. No one asked about PvP or alt/shift key commands with mouse wheel my guy.
Hello, who know the reverse of this option "test_cameraOverShoulder" who change the camera view in vertical but not in horizontal ? Because when I play a small character, the camera view is very bad, I never understood why Blizzard never add an option for this specific case after so many years...
