- Actioncam Plus is a World of Warcraft camera addon I cannot recommend enough, especially if you play a short race like me. Dynamic Cam is a great alterative as well if you are looking for more advanced customization! I am not an affiliate in any regard.

Type "/console CameraKeepCharacterCentered 0" to allow this addon to fiddle with the camera. It's pretty much a motion sickness safety switch that you turn off to enable the addon.
MVP of this video!
Sadly the addon doesnt work for me. Not even after typing this...
Thank you worked for me after it used this command.
Do you know how to undo this after I type this command? TIA
@@lizac126 Probably just set the same setting to 1 instead of 0, to enable it again. /console CameraKeepCharacterCentered 1
This has actually made a huge difference in my ability to see the nameplates on groups of mobs. I use stacking instead of overlapping and sometimes they would go up off the top of the screen and I miss important interrupts. That happens a LOT less now. Thanks! Only wish I knew about this sooner.
After tabbing back in to mine I realised that "floor" space is covered by my action bars, which would otherwise cover my character.
Same, that was my first thought while watching the video. "But...that's where my UI goes." xD
Lol, so that’s why I’ve never had this problem despite maining a gnome. Most of my UI below my character.
By the way, all the issues the ActionCam can just be disabled in the settings of DynamicCam too. I used DynamicCam for a lower camera position and nothing else for the entirety of BFA. You just gotta remove the auto-camera profiles and set the alignment to the center and then it's sorted. It gives far more control and settings over Actioncam Plus too.
If I ever wanted an over-the-shoulder view I just used MoveAnything to move the proc effects to a better position too.
AC+ seems like a far simpler solution for those wanting it though so good to know it exists!
As a Professional Gnome for many years, i need my Floor view! when you get stuck on tiny acorn, rocks, roots, dust particle, and worst of them all!
Drowning in small puddle of water!
not been using the auto cam ajust for 10 years now. allways keep rightclick in all the time :P
Holy shit... going from FFXIV back to Wow felt so bad, in FF you just hold the ctrl button and press the dpad to tilt the camera. Its so good. I bet this will help a lot of people!
I like in FF14 there's a camera tilt function built in that fixes this problem. I played with it tilted way up, it's so much better.
I just found this video and am so glad I did. Thanks for posting.
As a Tauren main who often has problems of the opposite extreme maybe I'll check this out!
This was a very well done video for a great Addon
It's neat for immersion but I think in practice it is a downgrade for combat. Being able to see the ground behind your character can be useful when avoiding mechanics and figuring out where you need to move without flinging your camera around. I also prefer having the camera way further away than this video has it. To each their own though.
I really miss being able to pull the camera out further, like we used to. It makes a difference in so many things - traveling, questing, instanced combat, screenshots and even herbing. During Legion, when I'd herb in Val'sharah, maybe because of the trees or whatever, the camera would automatically pan WAAAY in when I was herbing next to something. It unfortunately made me because nauseated - something I didn't have an issue with prior to the camera change, even if I was herbing for over an hour straight, and didn't happen in more open areas (like Suramar) where the vegetation wasn't as dense.
When I was trying to get those crystals in Azsuna (that one that lets you get a pink Hippogryph) I had to stop due to feeling sick because the camera kept moving very close in, while I liked to play with it panned OUT as far as possible.
yeah i miss zooming out a fuck ton and looking straight down like I do in OSRS
@@GoddessPallasAthena You can still do that. AdvancedInterfaceOptions brings that back in the addon settings.
it's not homie.
@@GoddessPallasAthena I don't know how far you used to be able to zoom out, but there's a command, that enables you to zoom out a bit more:
/console cameraDistanceMaxZoomFactor 2.6
I'm a GW2 player and, as someone who only play in action camera there, I need to say I would love to have these features in GW2 too. This is awesome!
They are already built in. In settings there is a camera tab where you can change pitch and everything.
ty for the tip!
Unfortunately I need this ground space for personal tracking auras (I wish I could use the addon all the time), but this really helped me while I'm mounted... Always got bothered with the camera with flying or huge mounts, they took all the screen sometimes, and this worked like a charm
As someone who mains a dwarf as well I didn't even realize this was a problem until you pointed it out, downloading that addon ASAP
This should be default. It also makes the world more immersive.
zooming out helps a lot too, just for the reference, this is too close anyway but preferences are different
Awesome addon, Ive been playing with Max Zoom on RTS mode LOL only way to see the pixels that are good and bad, great video!
Great Video!
Been looking for something this for years but didn't know how to find it. I have a 32:9 aspect ratio and it does 'things' to the default camera. Thanks for the youtube video on this great addon.
I was playing just fine... after seeing the before and after there's no way I can't unnotice it now lol. I need this addon
SAme, just got this recommended, first thought was that it was probably not gonna make much difference, and now I don´t ever want the default ever again except when mounted 🍻
I downloaded it and confirmed it's a pretty awesome, easy to use add-on. The only reason I'm not using it is because it doesn't play well with weakaura packages which would cover your feet in the lower action cam camera.
You can just move the auras, no?
I've always wanted this option in WoW and LOVED it in Guild Wars 2. In GW2 you can raise and lower the camera and also offset it left/right if you want. Great feature for immersion and can easily be set back for raids or PVP where being able to see behind your character is critical.
I use dynamicam and even have it set up to where when I mount, the camera will adjust to a set variable to make it more cinematic and also automatic.
same here. i've been using dynamicam since legion and boy do i love it. the possibilities to set different views, zoom levels and rotation etc. for different situations and hacing the camera adjust automatically is just amazing. i especially love how when i'm walking through the world i have the camera at a medium far distance, but when i interact with npcs the camera zooms in fairly close, rotates to the left by 30 degrees and i have a slight shoulder offset which makes npc interactions so much more immersive. or i set the option that the camera zooms out when i enter combat or mount up which is very helpful to see more on my screen
Thanks for the video
Your content seems quite cool. Subscribed.
imagine if you could do something like type /tiltcamera 45 and it would tilt it 45 degrees. that's insane I cannot wait for a game to impliment it.
Yeah, there was add-on for immersive questing back in legion that got sued unfortunately, but the reason why you have so much floor view is so you can see fire under you. I decided to get 2.5k Rio on third character this season when augmentor came out and had to use weak auras to keep better track of cooldowns, and it already made it harder to spot volcanic affix. So camera add-ons are good for questing or casual daily routine, but not for endgame, unless you want to do it in expense of your teamates.
Could just pair it with an app like GTFO as well. Pretty hard not to notice you’re standing in poop when there’s an air horn sound killing your ears.
I still feel like you'd still see the fire not to stand in it even with the zoomed in look unless you were soo zoomed in that you can't see your feet anyway
…or just move the wa?
Thank you, i was so annoyed by this issue in dungeons with a low ceiling
Hunter > entering combat > over the shoulder cam. Dope :D,
So... it adjust the camera angle? I didn't realise that when I played WoW. Although in FFXIV adjusting it is simply ctrl+arrow up/down
Setmaxcameradistance and with adjusting the default settings for camera you can go a long way into optimal FOV
So if you use another addon called Addon Control Panel, it also uses "\acp." Thus there is a conflict that causes a LUA error. Disabling Addon Control Panel allows Action Cam Plus to work.
You can use /acpl to on/off addon and /acpl config to open config
@@GankAlpaca You are a genious, I was breaking my head over this
Thank you. I am playing wow since like literally forever... and this just changed EVERYTHING wtf...
very helpful. thank you
looks nice. Tho i still prefer the normal. Since that gives me enough time to check behind me without having to turn. Just nice to be able to check behind without turning all the time.
good catch love the addon
It is like a new game. Thank you alot.
I would die so much in a dungeon and raid so fast with not having max camera zoom.
/console cameraDistanceMaxZoomFactor 2.6 (to zoom further out, 2.6 is the max, you can use other values)
I've been looking for something like this for months! Thank you!!
anyone know if it is possible to offset those screen effects that are not centred around your character, or to just disable them all together?
You can turn them off completely in the interface > combat menu. Just put the transparency slider all the way down to 0%. I think it’s called spell alert.
What do you mean "stop staring at the floor?" The whirls of fire I need to avoid stepping on are on the floor, and seeing as much of the floor as possible will help me avoid it.
Its somehow like the Flood Escape 2's Amazing Dynamic Camera feature
How to make resourses on mini map looks like points like old style?
This is why I never played short races. I always felt like I couldn't see anything. This has opened all the wow doors for me! Yea!!!
Yeah I noticed the center of the camera changes for some races
the camera always drove me crazy on the angle.
I always played short classes, never had an issue with the cam position...
I played this game off and on since the public beta just prior to vanilla release. I've never had an issue with the default camera. 🤷♂️
I need this for classic sod !
Really good feature, hope it works on classic
Thanks
I've like it I'm going to try this
I miss when you could do the max camera option.
So the camera basically goes down, thats all right?
isnt this the same as zooming out and using the right mouse button to set the camera to your preference?
Nice one but I personaly prefer Dynamic cam for more settings ;)
I don't play anymore but I like this video. Nice attention getting introduction.
I'm so confused. Can't you Judy move there camera wherever you want it?
Back in the day there was some letterboxing addons that would help with this. IDK if they are still being maintained but check out view port or view porter and sun art.
They still are but many of them broke with the 8.0 API changes
Rolled gnome in vanilla and eventually hated the camera angle so id often carry a bunch of noggenfogger to get skeleton
let me know if there is an alternative for SoD and HC classic pleaseeeee
I'm surprised this isnt an option that WoW never had at any point since FFXIV, my main game, just allows you to tilt you camera up and down with page up and down lol
Thank you, SO much. I am sick and tired of my dragon's ass taking up so much of what I see in DF and, as you pointed out, the stock ActionCam is just damn awful.
The game camera is pretty much what's kept me from playing a Dwarf/Gnome/Teacup Race from the start, the camera angles were just bloody awful. 🖤
Glad you got use out of it!
mmm wonder if it works on SOD classic. willl try. thank you sir !
nice man, nice 👍
Here I have my camera at the top looking straight down to see the swirlies in M+ 😂
I can't be the only one who didn't notice a change when he said from looking like this to looking like this??
can this be done in wrath? i can't find the addon for the patch
DynamicCam - try that addon, you can change pitch and offset, create different situations, and numerous other useful tools.
Damn, the addon makes it look much better.
How can I change how much it pitch changes
"There's too much floor!!"
Starting to make sense why dps players stand in every AOE. They're covering up the floor so they can't see it.
you used to be able to do this in the default blizzard options menu. don't know why they took it out.
Big Thx from Denmark. Amazing this isnt default setting or at least something the game would ask first time you play a new char. Its night and day, i played wow since 2005, but because of health problems i dont raid or do high keys anymore, i mainly level alts and do solo stuff, so i dont know how this work @ raid and m+, but for how i play, i LOVE it.. Thx again. /salute
It makes m+/raid close to unplayable (not counting the faceroll stuff), I'm pretty sure it's the reason why it isn't the default.
@@terdroblade Ahh ok, thx for telling me. i guess i dont want it then, as i plan/hope to raid again when i feel better "health problems" .. no idea in getting used to something that dont work @ raid. a bit of a shame, it make things look way better, but i guess raids are designed for another view. thx again.
Thanks.
What UI addon do u use? i like your config
you always move the camera to the maximum distance in raids
Need more floor bell b/c you know… fire
I don't know. I use my camera as a pair of eyes. I use it to look around to spot what I can death grip, spot what is coming like fire AOE, spot what can be stunned, silenced, rooted, polymorphed or healed in a pinch. I do that all with the default camera so camera angle doesn't matter to me because I change it too much.
?acp config doesn't load it for me had to use /acpl config
Doesn't seem to be on curseforge. Neither is dynamic camera.
Have you tried zooming out?
^^ just set the cameraoption to far away as possible. worked for me ^^
This guy stands in lots of fire
Seems like WoW default cam always puts the character's head in the center of the screen. Which makes shorter races see more of the ground.
I've been playing WoW mainly just to take nice screenshots of my favorite pretty places, and I've noticed the same problem. There was way too much floor in my pictures when I started, so I started moving the camera up for less floor and more sky. It's made a huge difference :)
isn't working right now for some reason.
edit: oh it was my bad, you have to switch 'Keep Character Centered' in accesibility general options first in motion sickness tab to the dynamic one. cool now! ty for your vid
Also could make the "target the flying things above" quests a little less annoying ;-)
That's where my UI goes.
“Don’t call me Shirley!” 😂😂
How is this in arenas and battlegrounds? Anyone have any experience?
i cant access the menu since i got an addon named addon control panel and its menu is also /acp wich wont open the cam addon config, any help ?
Hmm yeah they must be conflicting, I'm not sure there's any way around that to be honest, try "/actioncamplus config" and see if that works
@@yhonas that worked. ty ty
Wow
I’ve always played with max zoom out. I never understood wanting to play in any of these close up views.
That’s insane lol. Zoomed in feels more immersive
@@AdmiralDro and in raids and dungeons u will die becouse u see zero mechanics
floor is preety important for raids and m+ though
I normally zoom back and up to have a top down view over a much larger area so I can see if anything , sentries, are coming up from behind. So this would not be worth the trouble. I just zoom in and out and move my view as needed.
While I do have to agree that it looks better but for me a someone playing hardcore right now, this looks like a nice way to cause a death. Over me, under me, in front of me, behind me, I want to see all of that
As a healer, It seems people need to look at the floor more! They're always standing in stuff. End Rant. lol
Addon GTFO will keep anyone from standing in stuff they shouldn't be standing in. 10/10 do recommend.
Hey, I know this video is kinda old now, but have you ever considered adding some side-by-side comparisons. It actually took almost a full minute before i even knew what this video was addressing. I had to go back and watch the first few seconds multiple times to spot the difference. Once i understood the point of the video and was able to watch it i had to do the same thing multiple times through the video to actually view the before and afters.
For what it is worth, good video, just could have been more user friendly :)
Thank you. I've watched the first part this video at least 5 times now, and I still can't see any difference at all.
