    Hi everyone! This method is for hedgehog owners who do not want to give their hedgehogs frequent baths and that have hedgehogs that are more or less okay with having their nails done.
    I do refer to these as "my" methods in the video, however that is a slip of the tongue. These are not methods I've come up with on my own, they are common methods used by many hedgehog owners.
    If you do not think this method would work for you, try out the Bath Method:

    Awesome method! Thank you!! I just recently got a hedgehog who belonged to one of my mom's old friends, and he hadn't been taken care of well at all. Now he's in a better cage with better food and MUCH better sleeping areas. But the only problem we've had is clipping his nails. We've tried so many methods and just haven't been able to get them good enough. He's not used to being handled much so after I found this method it helped SOOOO much! We've got treats for him that he gets after each leg. Thank you so much for showing us this!!! It works so so so so well!!!😃🦔

    • @karinatorres5103
      @karinatorres5103 8 років тому

      Hedgehogs are solitary animals, it's not recommended to put hedgehogs together. The best cage size is also 2x3, 2x6 would be too big. But that's my opinion and what I've heard from other owners.

    I know it's been a long time since this video has been posted, but I have a question😂 so I've heard of people saying that their kwik can get to long and you have to try to recede them, do you have a problem with this?

    • @ToriLynnPPH
      @ToriLynnPPH  6 років тому

      The quick only gets long if you go long periods of time without cutting their nails :) But yes, if they do get too long, clipping them frequently will help them recede.

    • @ToriLynnPPH
      @ToriLynnPPH  6 років тому

      You apply cornstarch or flour to the tip, then apply pressure to help clot the blood. It usually stops very quickly. :)

    Hi! I am 16 year old. I'm centering on getting a hedgehog, but my dad doesn't want to let me.
    Can you tell me the pros and cons of owning a hedgehog

    • @ToriLynnPPH
      @ToriLynnPPH  8 років тому +6

      Pros would simply be that they are amazing animals to have. They're adorable, sweet, pudgy, and when you earn their trust, it is an amazing privilege. They also don't have a strong odor for a small pet. Their care is generally fairly easy.
      Cons would be their price - they can be quite expensive from a reputable breeder. They require a strict temperature range, so you can't just keep them at room temperature. Their quills can hurt if they don't trust you or are upset. Bonding can be a slow process. They're nocturnal so they are most active when most people are asleep. Their initial set up can be expensive. Vet visits are also very expensive. If they're not from a reputable breeder, they often end up with many illnesses throughout their lifetime, which adds up. And their lifespan is a lot shorter now than it used to be.
