    Hi everyone! Here's a video on how I clip my hedgehogs nails. The bath method is not recommended for hedgehogs that are willing to dunk their heads under water. As mine do not like water on their faces, this method is the fastest way to do their nails. If the bath method is not for your hedgehog, try out some of the others I mention toward the end of the video!

    I love that you talk to him while you were trimming his nails. Haha I yammer to mine but sometimes think I must seem crazy to others who hear me. I have a lot of difficulty trimming my lad's nails. He doesn't like his feet held, so its easier to mis-trim because he moves a lot and I just don't have enough hands to hold him still long enough to clip-clip fast. SO, I'm grateful for your various ideas of how to trim! TY! (Draco looks like my first hedgehog.

    Hi! For starters, I love your videos. It has been really helpful as a beginner hedgie owner. My boyfriend and I just got a pair, Hoko and Joey and we've been extremely clueless on how to take care of them and we came across your videos on UA-cam and they really shed some light on a lot of things we weren't familiar with. Hope you can continue making more hedgie related videos!
    I've got one question though, where do you buy all your hedgie supplies? I've been looking for a good scissors to use to cut their nails but the ones we found aren't that good. Any tips?

    Hi tori, so I have been watching your videos for about a month now collecting information.You have been so much help with care, tips, bonding, and done an amazing job with helping me through this journey.But I do have like two quick questions, first if my parents do agree to me getting a hedgehog then I actually have a nail clipper that we use for my dogs and it's kinda like a curved nail trimmer thats a little big but not to big to where you can't hold it.So what i'm saying is can I use that if I get a hedgehog and trim it's nails, or would you say scissors are a better option?The second question how often should you bath/trim their nails?

    Thank you so much these videos are so helpful! I just got my hedgehog two days ago, and I notice that she was given to me with sort of long nails. I tried clipping her back feet because the front look okay but the back were super long. I tried clipping them at least a little so that she isn't in any pain for the meanwhile while she walks! Should I try to do a little bit a day since she's not yet used to me? I don't want to stress her out too bad since she is currently getting used to me and her new home!

    I went to purchase a baby hedgehog but when I seen an adult they had I ended up purchasing her instead. Her nails are crazy long and curls under very bad and she is absolutely not tamed at all. We can pick her up but she is all quails the entire time and huffs and puffs the entire time we're getting her and if we move as well. When I touched her foot she had a more not happy reaction so I'm sure she's in pain and I haven't been able to observe them too well. We just got her yesterday and was trying to give her time to bond before I started to attack her nails, but I feel like if she's in pain it's cruel not to do it how, however I never had one so don't know what to do. Should I start with a bath and see if she'll allow me to do it there or try something different. I feel like as unhappy as she is at being touched she might not know about water.

    Got my hedgehog Saturday, in three days he already fully trusts me which is insane. I haven’t given him a bath yet because he hasn’t needed it but I do not know how he is gonna react to a bath 😂

    Excuse me Tori I have a question😊 do their bites hurt. I really am looking forward to getting a hedgehog for my next birthday. I’m asking because I wanna make sure that my hedgie is the most pampered thing ever.

    • @haltersthings5319
      @haltersthings5319 3 роки тому

      Yes, it does hurt, but they rarely bite (it also depends on the personality of your hedgie. Mine have never bitten me or anyone, even though they were mostly unhandled when i got them). They would much rather hiss, click, curl up and pop before considering to bite. Just be careful that your hands don't smell like their treats or food when you handle them. That's when they might bite, mistaking your finger for a snack.

    I have had trouble finding a hedgehog food that's ok for hedgehogs. Some people say only use cat food, other people say use the food specialized for hedgehogs, People also say to not food them any kibble at all! I am really confused as to what I should and should not feed my hedgehog. Please help!

    • @eyeles8887

      Turtle. 101 you should use a mixture of cat food, veggies/fruit, and some protein. Dried mealworms and dead crickets are a good option for protein, but make sure to not give them too much. Introduce the new foods one by one, so if there's an odd reaction you know which one is causing the problem. before you give them any new foods, you should google which ones are the best for them and which ones will hurt them.

    My hedgehog is very stubborn. Her nails are very long and I've tried to cut them but she won't let me. She huffs and puffs every time I try to cut her nails and she likes to dunk her head under the water. She gets very stressed out if I try to cut them and she curls up into a ball. Does anyone have a good method for getting them to calm down? I don't want her nails to curl and pierce her feet!

      Pickle Brynn make sure she acclimates to the water. to stop her from dunking her head put your finger under her chin.

      Pickle Brynn put her in water up to her chin so she doesn't curl in a ball.

      The ones in this video are cuticle scissors! I use human ones mostly now, because those broke and I haven't been able to find a pair I like as much.

    My hedgehog spits foam on his quills and my mom thinkgs he may have rabies, although I highly doubt he has. Do you have a way I can explain to her what he's doing?

    • @ToriLynnPPH
      @ToriLynnPPH  7 років тому +8

      It is called anointing, which is how they scent mark themselves essentially. I have a couple videos of it on my channel, I would show her one! It's totally normal, he doesn't have rabies.
