    Watched all the way through, awesome job! The French cleat idea, high quality turf, and velcro are all solid ideas. Fun for the whole family. 👍

      Just checking in. How's the course holding up after a year and is the family still using it?

      Sorry, but I do not. I give dimensions during the video, so you can easily figure things out from watching along. If you get stuck, just ask.

    Can you let us know what the carpet is called and where you bought it?

    • @billymacmakes
      @billymacmakes  2 роки тому

      It's actual outdoor putting turf, used by the pros for big backyard installations. I bought this from a local place called Durham Artificial grass.

    I’m here cus I’m drafting out my own to build. I like the French Cleat system and the overlap to hold the two pieces together. I was thinking of some sort of Spray 77 adhesive or a roll on Heavy Duty adhesive to hold the putting green to the plywood. Love this project! Well done!

    • @billymacmakes
      @billymacmakes  2 роки тому +1

      The cleat system is great, because this is surprisingly heavy! If it were any larger, I would never be able to move it around on my own. If you get good turf, it is pretty heavy and won't need adhesive. I've already had to move mine a couple times - leak in basement :( and if it was glued down, it would have been trouble. Don't go so permanent. The line of velcro behind the holes keeps it down and keeps it tight. Good luck with it!!

      Ahhh!!! Great reply. Yes. I was definitely going good quality on the turf. I have ability to get at a good price direct so will get good quality. Thanks for the tip! ✌🏾

    Now that it's been 7 months since you posted, would you say the velcro is still holding up nicely? My only concern is with the adhesive and it coming off the turf.

    • @billymacmakes
      @billymacmakes  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, the velcro is holding up just fine. I did staple it down to the wood as added security. Typically it wouldn't be lifting up and down too often, so it wouldn't be too big a deal. But I'm glad I didn't permanently adhere it, as I've had to move mine around several times lately, and it would be impossible as one piece! It's soooo heavy!

    How much was this in total to build? Also where did you get your turf?

    • @billymacmakes
      @billymacmakes  2 роки тому

      Turf is the most expensive part - and I got mine from a turf company that does backyard installations and this was what they call a 'remnant' so it was considerably cheaper. All in it was about $800 in materials.

    Instead of building a putting green, maybe you should fix your wall

    • @billymacmakes
      @billymacmakes  Рік тому +1

      putting is more fun that mudding and taping! (but it's fixed now, you'll be happy to hear :)

      Well the title clearly states about building a putting green, not fixing a wall. I think you got the wrong video.
