My husband did security for them at a hotel back in the early 90's. Ended up eating a burger and smoking a joint with Eddie in his room at like 3:00 am. Said he was just about the nicest guy he ever met. Said the whole band was just super cool. They were addressing him as "Sir" and everything was genuine "Please" and "Thank You"...Genuinely a class bunch of guys. Was the best crew my husband ever worked with by far...
Pearl Jam are still touring and are about to announce their North America tour. Even though it's 30 years later, I highly recommend going and if you can do all the events like pre-parties. We Pearl Jam fans are a family and if you let them will welcome you with open arms. I know people who might not be alive today without this community. I have certainly benefitted from it and know that when shit hits the fan, that family will help out. Apart from that they still give everything they've got and no two shows are the same (they make up their set list just before the show) and it's always unbelievable when the entire crowd sings along to hits like this one, Black, Release, Daughter and many more. I know the tickets aren't cheap but this band is so bloody worth it.
I confirm what someone else just recommended: If you like their energy on stage and if you think this was Eddie going crazy, watch them do "Porch" at Pinkpop 92.
I'm a HUGE Pearl Jam fan, saw them many, many times. I am so sorry you guys missed the grunge era. However, Justin Hawkins of The Darkness is still doing this! 🤣 It's a Love Thing!
Saw them in 1992 at second Lollapalooza with Soundgarden and other bands, easily one of the best concerts ive ever seen...on their first song they literally caused a flood of people to crash down a huge hill embankment down into the amphitheater like a giant human wave.
I was so upset I didn’t get to go to that show, but got a T-shirt from a friend who went. But at least I did see Pearl Jam live for the first time that year. It really was a great time to have been a teenager! (Didn’t make it to Lollapalooza until ‘94, which was still an awesome year.)
Are you talking Mesa amphitheater in AZ? The local dj here at kupd talks shit cuz Eddie is now not wild, save the planet Eddie, well guess what moron, people grow. Idiot (John holmberg)
Pearl Jam is a band that everyone dismisses because "everyone likes Pearl Jam". Then when they finally sit down an actually listen to them they realize "oh shit, these guys are good" Edit: There's another show where Eddie climbs up onto the metal beam that is part of the roof of the venue they were playing at (think big box store roof support) and falls into the crowd.
My mom bought me the first CD I ever owned and a discman for Christmas one year and it was this CD , one of the greatest albums ever , she passed away recently of brain cancer and man I’m sitting here thinking how amazing my mom was to buy this cd when I was in junior high and a cd player that would carry some of the most memorable moments of teenage years. Love and miss you mom!
Thankfully Vedder isn't as reckless as he used to be back in the 90s. There were a lot of close calls and people were convinced that he'd end up falling from something and that would be the end of it. There are some videos out there of those earlier shows, with him swinging from a mic cable over the audience or climbing up 50 feet above the stage. There is one story he told about when he climbed up above the stage and reached the top only to discover that the I-beam he was clinging to only had enough space for his fingertips, and it was covered in dust. I think that was the time he realized that he was seconds away from an early death. He even apologized to all the other band members when they accepted an award (it might have been their induction to the Rock and Roll hall of fame) for putting them through all of that. He's a great guy, they all are, but there were moments back then when we all thought he was probably going to die during a show. Needless to say, we're all extremely glad he didn't!
I was only 6 years old at the height of their popularity, and I grew up around other music so i just recently discovered Pearl jam at the age of 36...and they're now absolutely one of my favorites, they're just so so good. I wish i knew about them earlier on. Hopefully I'll still have a chance to see them in concert one day soon.
Back in the late 80's and early 90's the most popular club in Seattle was a place called the RCKCNDY which had 4 different stages. On any give night you might see Pearl Jam or Soundgarden or Nirvana or Alice N Chains or the Screaming Trees or Hammerbox or Mudhoney or the Tragically Hip or who knows. The only thing for sure was that you would get drunk and have tinnitus. It was simply the best place to live when you were under 40 in any city or at any age in the history of mankind! Oh this was the Paramount theater and I have been there for some great shows but unfortunately wasn't there for this one.
This brings back memories. I was in my early 20's when this song and this group broke out. It was an amazing time for music. The songs and singers were just so full of passion and you could feel it when they performed. Another group from this time was 'Stone Temple Pilots'. The lead singer Scott Weiland was fantastic. Their songs and music great. No cell phones anywhere to be seen. A simpler time.
He was a guy who trusted his body, you don't go swinging from the rafters unless you do. Can't swear to it, but believe he was involved in stuff like surfing when young. They all looked sort of gleamingly healthy, fairly different from a lot of others involved in grunge. Another thing you notice when watching early Pearl Jam- no matter how strenuous his performance, he never lost his breath, maintained that powerful voice.
That swinging the microphone was a part of Roger Daltrys singing style. It’s a great effect. You got to know what you’re doing. That could leave a mark
The band thought they would have to find a new singer because they always feared that Vedder was going to die. Reason being, Eddie had a notorious habit of climbing the stage scaffolding, while singing.
This video a live version of Even Flow. This video is filmed live. It was very well recorded faithful to the original, but it is different from the studio recording if you listen closely. Same deal with the Alive video
In addition to his young energy..Ed is an amazing storyteller . I love listening to the live shows because you get so much passion and Ed's cool stories. If you watch PJ20 Ed talks about the wild climbing and jumps and said it was the power of the music but his band mates were terrified he would get seriously hurt or die while he did that but they weren't gonna be able to talk him out of it
I was very very fortunate to grow up listening to metallica all kinds of rock and the grunge bands thanks to my big bro.he was a true child of the time.still a great guy just settled down.i took over the reigns
Pearl Jam 1992 Pinkpop concert the song is Porch, best dive into crowd ever!! Check it out!! I ❤️ Pearl Jam!! Awesome reactions guys, enjoyed it alot!! 😊💓🤘✌️
Went to a concert in New Orleans in the ninety's the Ramones opened for them between the rain, the mosh pits, and the crowd surfing it was one of the most amazing times of my life.HOG
Afraid of heights? Bein up high is fun, and if you're nit doin somethin where you have the real possibility of being injured once in a while, then you're not livin....the mosh pit at the Pantera concert right after "A Vulgar Display of Power" was released was insane, I saw a dudes forearm fold up like a boomerang when he buried it in the middle of another dudes face...it was awesome, it definitely hurt like hell, but awesome nonetheless...🤘🏻🇺🇸
This was the time before Internet came up. You just had the album, the radio airplay and then the concerts. the people went to the concerts out of pure passion and still got something offered. that was better than the internet today. this was LIVE.
I recently watched something on UA-cam with him singing, and he has aged really wel. All clean cut and everything! Thank god he's still with us and didn't take the route of Chester and Chris Cornell. ❤
Speaking of kids, watch an awards show or some other music special of today where Pearl Jam is playing and watch Eddie's daughter's face. 'Coolest dad ever' face. She will be at a table in the audience with her mom and other family.
And that’s how Gen X gets down! 😉😂🤣😂🤣. And everyone wondered what one would get out of playing on the monkey bars. You never know when you’ll grow up to be a rockstar and need to climb the scaffold to jump into the audience. 🙃
My husband did security for them at a hotel back in the early 90's. Ended up eating a burger and smoking a joint with Eddie in his room at like 3:00 am. Thanks for sharing, that's heartwarming to read.
TEN.
One of the best album ever made.
Start to finish, legit every track is great
The best album ever made. Period.
Top to bottom. Not one skip song. In my mind one of top 10 albums ever.
Absolutely the best grunge album next to the first Alice and chains record
Totally!
Rearviewmirror on SNL 1994 has ridiculous energy.
The next Pearl Jam NEED to be " Porch, Live at Pinkpop 1992 " Damn!
YESSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!
Oh my God yess!! This one’s gonna kick you back to elementary school 🤣
I came here looking for this suggestion!
I was lucky enough to see them three times back in the early and mid 90s. Absolutely electric experiences.
Eddie Vedder was an absolute monster on stage.
is a monster!
Mike McCready the guitarist is truly a great guitarist. One of the best in
the last 30 or 40 years.
Aaaahm... No.
@@gabrielp9646 UUmmmmm yeaaah.
Definitely
I fell in love with this band back when this video came out. We’re still together and doing it several times a week.
The drumming underneath the guitar solo is so damn good
That was basically any live gig in the 90s. Going to gigs then was loose as F. Those days are sadly gone.
Great reaction!! 😀 Thanks

Eddie Vetter... beautiful man w/ a great voice...
You two are super intertaning.
That bass! 🔥
Turns out you can still go and see them and they are even better now than they were then! They are all amazing at their crafts!
I'm a HUGE Pearl Jam fan, saw them many, many times. I am so sorry you guys missed the grunge era. However, Justin Hawkins of The Darkness is still doing this! 🤣 It's a Love Thing!

I’m so jealous, it’s embarrassing….😔

Well jelly! Wish I could have seen them all!!

Pink Pop 92 I guess
To which I reply " I told you they were great, not good".
The best band of all time
The 90s were different, passion for music, having fun on stage and in public, today that is lost.
I was 12 the first time I saw this so it's so especial for me. Hello from spain
I've been to several Pearl Jam concerts in the 90's and he always jumped into the crowd and we surfed him. They are incredible live!!!

You should check out Pearl Jam "Porch" Pinkpop 92
Grunge pits were surprisingly safe. Lotsa contact, but understand that if you fell, everyone picked you up. God I miss it .

Hey Seattle! I was there! I am old! Keep Rock Alive!! 🤘🏽🖤🔥🙌🏼 ℁

They are still making albums and touring. Try Quick Escape from their latest album.
That swinging the microphone was a part of Roger Daltrys singing style. It’s a great effect. You got to know what you’re doing. That could leave a mark
All the grunge bands are great and sooooooo relevant today
Broken fingers? Hell, I would have happily been smooshed into oblivion, to break Eddie Vedder's fall, lol.
I was 20 when this was done 🤷🏼♂️🖤🤘🏻
The band thought they would have to find a new singer because they always feared that Vedder was going to die. Reason being, Eddie had a notorious habit of climbing the stage scaffolding, while singing.
One the best concerts I’ve ever seen live they put on a hell of a show.
Aaarrrggghhh!
Yes!!! Memories... great band LIVE!! They have been so consistent, too. All so talented, and Eddie Vedar's voice.... woaw! 🤘🎶
This guy sang right through me. Amazing live band. Thanks for the memory guy's!!!😊🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦

Pearl jam - Porch. Pinkpop 1992.
Came to say that exact phrase
Saw the PJ20 tour in Vancouver. Those guys love Canada. Mudhoney was the opener, an underrated Seattle Scene band.
Seen them a bunch of times in the 90's. Frickin rocked every time!!
I was very very fortunate to grow up listening to metallica all kinds of rock and the grunge bands thanks to my big bro.he was a true child of the time.still a great guy just settled down.i took over the reigns
Hellz ya, I remember when this came out! Yes, I am 48 And These were the times to ROCK!
My fave PJ song. Well top 5 anyway. God bless everyone.

Afraid of heights? Your face expressions say it all love this review I wish to have gone to the concert as well fab
Promoters and venues hated PJ and often required additional insurance because of Eddie's antics.
. I was in my 40s in the 90s and I got this CD and I’m not ashamed to say that I am still an Eddie Vedder fan girl.
Super singer👍😻
Porch from Pinkpop festival 1992. Legendary performance
ten album is one of my all time fav , got to see them in there hey day and 20 yeqrs later , still rock
I am a big fan of Pearl Jam but this was the official video to the song so therefore this is the recorded version and not live
Gotta second. Porch - pink pop '92
You need to bond with their first album, "10"! Amazing! You should do a video just reacting to that whole album!
Saw them Live at Sydney football stadium in 2009

Have loved your reactions to Rammstein (huge fan), but I also love Pearl Jam. So cool to see you do "Even Flow". Pearl Jam, yes!!
The glory of the grunge era
You guys you guys you guys!!! Pearl Jam DO THE EVOLUTION reaction please!!! You wont regret it!!!!!!!!!
You should react to " Corduroy " live 2016
Never understood the hype about Nirvana, that time. Pearl Jam ihmo is the winner, and and i own the Nirvana Album, too
Yeah, PJ and AIC for me. I think it’s that Nirvana was the most “punk” if you will, of the grunge bands and had that punk energy.
Great song. Great reaction.
Years ago SNL did a parody of this with Adam Sandler singing. So funny
Animal Live at mtv video awards is gonna blow your mind. Eddie’s a sceamer.
You should check out Great White Street killer that's awesome
Hi guys!! You have to listen “Porch” live version pink pop festival 1992 …….Was insane !!!
Watch "Do the Evolution" official video next you will love it.
When you see the older Eddie Vedder you forget he had this level of energy once. He's still fantastic though.
Bring back Dave Abbruzzese and he will get that "Old" Energy back
Nòw try Porch live pop.....unbelievable performance
U need to watch pearl jam porch pink pop 93
And that’s how Gen X gets down! 😉😂🤣😂🤣. And everyone wondered what one would get out of playing on the monkey bars. You never know when you’ll grow up to be a rockstar and need to climb the scaffold to jump into the audience. 🙃
the holiest of holies: nirvana, pearl jam, soundgarden, alice of chains, melvins.
You should react to them doing Porch live at pink pop 92!
Please react to Pearl Jam - “Do The Evolution “
