This song got me through a near death experience in 2020. I was hospitalized with strep pneumonia and went into septic shock as well. I could barely breath and my skin was grayish blue. After the doctors, nurses, techs, and everyone at the hospital saved my life, I listened to this song over and over and over. I almost lost my wife and kids forever. I met death that day. It looked me right in the eyes and smirked, then walked away. I'm lucky to still be here...
I adore this song and what beautiful lyrics..Ed is a brilliant songwriter. This song really shows the progression of Ed from his wreckless days climbing 60ft over the stage (I didn't care before you were here, I danced in laughter with the ever after) to his days now as a husband and father. I think it's an amazing love song.."I study your face, the fear goes away."
I appreciate your reaction to this one. I have loved this song since it first released, but you helped me gain an even closer relationship to the lyrical deepness. Thank you
With all due respect, I love your reaction channel but have y'all ever thought about branching out and jumping in the rabbit hole of the country & rap genres more?

When the guitar play Mike McCreedy 1st head the demo he had to leave the room to cry. That shows how emotional this song is

This song is definitely my top 2 or 3 from Pearl Jam.

Agree, but, study your face? that sounds kind of off... Isn't it better "I stare your face"?
It means he's taking it in. Looking at her beauty, flaws, and so on. And the image of her face comforts him
Bought this on vinyl when it was released, this song is so good.
Way better when you hear it for the 1000th time.

LOL, I first thought Sirens were from the greek myths. Haha... But this is very touching.
Until now, I always thought that 'the sirens' were the Greek mythology sirens: humanlike beings with alluring voices.
Hes talking to his daughter.
