I WAS THERE, I have a piece of his T-shirt! It had been torn while he surfed & as I held him before he turned to go back to the stage the piece of shirt hit me, I grabbed it! If you notice we know the guys who jump & pretty much when they’re gonna jump, we all squish together so he doesn’t get hurt. We were all fine, you expect it in every rock concert if you’re down front, that’s why we stand there. When he was surfing & he turned, he was asking me if I was ok & was telling the guys to be respectful. Eddie was very aware of me being a woman surrounded by men & was very gentle with me & told the guys to take care of me & make sure I didn’t get hurt. They formed a circle around me for the whole show before he dived on us all anyway, but I really appreciated Eddies concern for me. When he got back on stage he paused & looked for me, they held me up & I blew him a kiss & he tapped his heart, wonderful human being ♥️I’m 55 now, thanks for reacting to such a wonderful memory, one of the greatest human beings ever. I’m so glad they caught it on camera. I was alone, but made lifetime friends there. I’m 55 now, thanks for reacting to such a wonderful memory. Xx

That jump is incredible, but another thing I'm impressed with, is the band keeping the jam going all the way through and bringing it back around to end the song!

That very jump was chosen the best moment in the long history of Pinkpop a few years ago. For years, Eddie thought that camera guy wasn't too happy with him and was trying to send him away. Only a few years ago they met, and turned out that camera guy was fully aware this was history in the making, he was just pointing at the other staff to help keeping that crane in the air. Truly legendary performance.

Pearl Jam and Eddie Vedder ruled the 90s with their stage show. They also gave more of themselves for their fans than any other band.

Best grunge Pearl Jam era w/ David Abbruzzese (1991-1994) .Period. This is the Pearl Jam that I grew up with. Don’t get me wrong, now PJ is more mature and beautiful band but back then it was madness and I love it! This was the iconic crowd surfing @ Pinkpop festival! 🔥🔥🤘🏻🤘🏻🎸🎸👏🏻👏🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

I love them then and now. People grow and the body also cannot be wild like this. But they still put on a show. Saw them 10 years ago. Lights came on in the arena to let them know, hey its time to go, but they kept playing for like 20min

Yep, Eddie and Pearl Jam used to be like this back in the days. My best friend has been a fan as long as I can remember and she would tell me about the concerts she went to. I wish I went with her, but it wasn't my music at the time.

in a time when there was a musical movement, Alternative ( grunge), Hip Hop , Metal .....festivals were insane and people discovering themselves in their youth and just being out in the world and enjoying life and each other!!!!! a far cry what life is like today!!!!!!! HOW SAD!! but im stoked to have been part of one of the best generations ( Gen X) last of the great Generations!!! I always said the 90's were the 60's upside down! lol... in the 90's it felt like a time of self discovery, and traveling, and meeting people and socializing! making REAL connections organically and not through technology! it felt raw, and most importantly it felt real!

I feel that Eddy's stage diving and crowd surfing inspired a lot of other bands that followed in Pearl Jam's wake. Notable in my mind is Jared Leto's band 30STM, there's a couple videos where he does some ridiculous stage diving and he knows the crowd will catch him.

    Pearl Jam
“Animal / Rockin’ In The Free World” w/ Neil Young live @ MTV music awards 1993….You gotta watch the video. Neil has two solos that are bonkers, Mike McCready destroys his amp and Ed destroys his mic stand at the end. A true live rock performance the likes of which are rarely seen anymore. Worth watching and reacting to….please.

I grew up in Seattle and I've seen Pearl Jam about a dozen times. I also saw Led Zepplin, the Who, Jimi Hendrix and many others and I'm telling you Pearl Jam was the best live band I ever saw. As a side not and yes I have met Eddie Vedder on a few occasions, when he jumped into the crowd he was worried about the people he left on the ground. Further more I knew Jeff Ament fairly well and have met every member of the band including every drummer they ever had and every one of them are decent guys.

Yeah, he camera rig is a balanced system, weights have to be added to the bottom to match the weight of the camera and operator. Eddie didn't realize this when he jumped on it. If they didn't have people there to counter it they would have smashed into the floor, and when he jumped off they had to account for that change in weight again. He thought the camera man hated him for doing that. He thought about it for 20 years and felt guilty about doing it. When they toured there again one of Eddies team tracked the guy down, he's now retired, but he didn't hate Eddie at all and they met up and he was at the show as a guest.
