This is absolutely the concept of a futuristic assassin's Creed that everybody wanted like 5 years ago when people thought about where/when the series should take place
This is the modern Assassins Creed storyline we wanted ever since the first game with Desmond. The fact that Watchdogs and AC are connected in this universe only makes it better.
Thing is, people DIDN'T want that. One of the most long-standing criticisms of AC was 'drop the future plot, nobody cares'. Which, as someone who wanted the futureplot from Day 1, makes me very sad.
@@legateelizabethpeople do want that but they want the game to be focused on the future plot, in the games you’ll be in the middle of the story and suddenly you walk around as some random character and they just talk for 5 minutes before you go back to playing the game. The Desmond section in the first trilogy where you play like the assassins but in the modern day is pretty celebrated by the community.
@@klenstdp1737 Yeah it was fine for a few games to focus on the past assassins as Desmond's training - but it was all ultimately supposed to be for training and learning about the Brotherhood-Templar conflict. I've not played anything since AC2 for many reasons, but not getting a game with Desmond utilizing the skills of every assassin against the modern Templars was definitely one of them.
Even better that a lot of people are very thrown off by it. Like if their first clip was Rayman eating sushi off the cowgirl back, snorting coke, or his Ramon phase, a lot of them would think it's a typical Velma type show. Twisting beloved childhood characters into edge lords, but in reality it's a love letter for video games, cyberpunk, and apparently Assassin Creed as a franchise. It's also bizarrely deep with it's philosophy and characters development so it's way more than an edgy show. It's like Velma but done right
Wait, if the Templar is in the universe, how long do they know about Bullfrog, AND that also means that Sarah also knew that Bullfrog was the last remaining member of the Creed that’s why she chose him specifically. Wow Bullfrog is so important it isn’t even funny.
@michaelchristian6096 that part confused me, yeah it had to be her who called rayman to get him to talk to bullfrog but there was a chance that Rayman might do anything, he colda cowered and do nothing and got caught by nijin red, it was luck that Rayman escaped nijin red and manage to pull through killing them all and save bullfrog, one wrong move and all of that coulda never happend I liked the show but the writing gets messy when I started to really think about it
Dont forget that the board of directors straight up have red templar crosses over their faces complete with dots around the cross's negative spaces to show godly power
For the record, as a French person: Bullfrog's accent is not from Quebec. It's pretty clearly a typical metropolitan French accent. Guess Bullfrog's from AC Unity!
I fully expect Bullfrog and Ramon to team up if we get a season 2, since Season 1 feels like a massive setup for a longer series. Dolph I have no clue whats going on with him, unless we somehow get into matrix shenanigans. Sarah hoenslty pulled some a massive long con, she likely sold the info to Alex and helped him with the Revolution, created the Ghost Crew, was behind Raymans replacement and telling him about Bullfrog (hoping it would lead to the Order fall while she was away), sabotage Laserhawk ALL SO SHE COULD GET TO THE VR FACILITY AND THEN TAKE OVER.
Bullfrog was always the heart of the group so if anyone lives on to be the new protagonist I'd be glad if it was him, especially after how flawlessly he not only showed Rayman the truth but also talked him through it, calming his self-blame and giving him purpose in standing up to Eden
My two cents on how Bullfrog lives up to the third part of the Creed is that his new team, the Ghosts, are his new brotherhood, and he never does anything that would endanger them. He might even take the Creed farther than the previous Assassins by trying to safeguard their emotional and mental health as much as he acts to protect them physically and lamenting that he couldn't do more to uphold his Creed for them.
I think Bullfrog had his suspicions that Eden are the Templars but lacked reliable intel to confirm it, or didn’t care because in the end he’s fighting oppression which is exactly when Assassins do
if you wonder. Bullfrog is definitely French, people from Quebec tend to have a very heavy accent that bullfrog doesn't have. Also his voice actor, Balac, is French himself
@@tailedgates9 so fun most people started watching the show 'cause other characters (specially Rayman) but now most of this show's discussion goes around Bullfrog, he's an amazing character in several ways.
If UbiSoft takes a chance and makes an “Else World AC” game where all the characters a swap with anthropomorphic animals. My head canon thinks he learned his skills from Arno, Bullfrog is H.I.M.
Media companies have been going crazy with crossover stuff and some of it has started to feel predictable and boring. This is one of the coolest crossovers I've seen in a long while. I love the idea of creating a new universe and having all of the characters and IPs exist in a new context. If companies insist on continuing to crossovers, I want to see more like THIS.
I couldn’t agree more. Go off the rails with it, throw concepts and characters into a new world, merge and mix them, just have *fun* with it - Crossovers can be phenomenal if just given the freedom to do their thing
I love this silly froggy french assassin so much it's not even funny. Wonderful vid and analysis dude, very fun to watch! If Bullfrog dies in season 2, as he still has the bomb in his braincase, I will fucking riot.
He is glorious. If he dies in Season 2, the absolute least I ask for is he died as he lived - Absurdly, ridiculously, and saving basically everyone around him by just being the gloriously ridiculous Frog Assassin he is
oh heck yeah we finally got Captain Laserhawk video essays! And not only that, but one for the best character! This was a great watch and breakdown of how the AC lore and Bullfrog fit into all of this.
Considering the Hybrids were created from mixing Human and Animal DNA, BullFrog probably has Assassin ancestry. Plus Eden used to the USA so perhaps the Great Guild/BotherHood survives abroad.
I think Bullfrog is secretly a gloot (a globox) from dimension x but we're never told that cuz it doesn't have anything to do with the creed, but it does explain the bubble-dreaming ability.
In his case NOT talking about the brotherhood is more compromising than keeping it secret i think. You need new members to continue your legacy as well as children to carry the eagle vision. Not only that he should REALLY TALK to marcus and T-bone. However something tells me that he will join deadsec and it will merge with the assassin's creed (if it already hasnt because in my mind, T-bone is a bonified assassin!)
It'd really be something if we get a fun spinoff AC game where we play as Bullfrog, not in a "here's a skin of the character mapped to a human" dlc chapter kind of way. A full game in some alternate, anthro Asscreed universe. using frog skills to take down marks and bosses like Snakes, Crocs, ect. So basically, a Sly Cooper game for the modern age. lol
That sounds interesting... though I don't see why Hybrids would want to join the Templars. They would basically be fighting for the further enslavement of their kind.
well this just solidifies the fact that he's so important, even moreso than I thought before. He better not die or I'mma riot. Glad to have learned so much about Assassin's Creed this way.
14:49 side note, what if the reason he’s the last of the guild is because he got the other few killed in his pursuit of vengeance? Maybe that’s why he can empathize with Pay’j? Dunno, just a silly theatrical head canon OwO.
i really, really hope that when a season 2 happens, bullfrog and rayman get more screentime, they both were awesome also not really related to the video but i don't know where else to say it soo here it goes it's nice that now gay couples are progressing to be treated the same as normal couple aka if you are alredy a couple at the start or become one midway throught the series, the relationship is 100% done for
ha right? I love tragic love stories and media either leans into the "kill your gays" thing, or the couple is perfect in every way. I liked that their relationship was complicated and I also loved that Laserhawk did not hesitate to beat ts out of Alex😭
He's definitely a very awesome and badass character on the series. His fighting skills were spectacular, even for an assassin like him. And his voice acting with an French accent sounds very cool to listen to. He's my favorite character on this Netflix series with Rayman/Ramon as my 2nd favorite.
Like everybody else I was not expecting a video essay on bullfrog but I'm happy we got one. I really hope you get a season too soon cause I wanna know what happens next
I did not expect to make a video essay on bullfrog going into Remix but I am very happy to have made it. I too await Season 2 with baited breath - Though given this was in production for years, we may have to wait a while. Which is fine by me, 'cause this was a glorious time for how long it took
Bullfrog became my favorite character of the whole show in basically the first episode. I love his art style, his character depth, his quirks and almost everything about him. Also near the last few episodes (I think before or after his conversation with Rayman) I noticed that the voice actor for bullfrog was also a very important person in the creation of the show, as well as how the story developed him I realized how the show secretly revolves around him, and with the Templar being Eden solidifying that fact. I also need to have some high quality bullfrog merch made by some company that’ll sell it at a reasonable price like a plush or even some stickers.
I know this series is only really using the Blood Dragon Name for like The reference But I really want Rex Power Colt to show up It would just be really cool to see him
I would also like to add, that in the brotherhood once joining you have to make the finger sacrifice to show commitment and so that the hidden blade can work. Bullfrog has four fingers. He took the oath but didn't actually have to loose a finger because he had the space on his hand being a frog.
I deeply appreciate that Bobbypills wrote Bullfrog the way they did. It would've been SO easy for him to just be the silly, comic relief character of the bunch, considering his entire concept is being a small, French frog assassin. But no, he actually has a surprising amount of thought and depth written behind him, while also embracing the overall silliness of his character. What sucks is there's so much more I want to learn about him, but we gotta wait to see if there'll be a season 2. 💔
23:12 I don't think we're ever told what happened to Wrench. I like the thought that he started hacking everything in reach and causing _utter mayhem_ until Eden eventually caught up with him
Realizing the Templars got into a fall out and one of them cherry picked the last of the Assassins so she can have them be a key piece to the downfall of the rest of the Templars and take over the order to reshape it to her will, it's a plot twist I was not expecting from a show where Pagan Min bangs the protagonist's ex-bf.
I've been following this show from the shadows for a while now, mostly because Rayman fans take what they can get, but what surprised me is just how good this show is even for people who never heard of an "Ubisoft". What surprised me even more was that Rayman ended up being my favorite character even after disassociating him from the one I know and love.
This show is a trip in the best possible way. Cody Rhodes is my legit favorite wrestler ever, shocked to see a real human amongst all the fictional characters. He had the best line in the show too. But by far, Bullfrog is the one who left the greatest impression in my mind.
If it’s of any consolation I didn't expect to make it going into it. But after seeing the series I had to. Nothing motivated me more this past week. I am very tired.
Man, watching this video and loving it for Bullfrog, but that last bit really makes me want to hear a deep dive explanation behind all the main-line Assassin protagonists
really fantastic video! i love how despite being such a kind-hearted assassin who discourages revenge, Bullfrog is still more than willing to kill his opponents. He's bloodthirsty but somehow the kindest character in the show. You hit on a lot of points I really enjoyed about the show, and hearing someone with Assassins Creed knowledge break down the details from that series was really handy! Great work!

As somebody who has played zero assassin's creed, this cleared up A LOT for me. Honestly Rayman's character arc in particular is WILD but also just... SO interesting
Bullfrog was easily my favourite character while watching Laserhawk with my best friend. At first just because "lol assasin frog speaks french" (which i translated for the friend cause I know a bit) Anf then because he was just... really kind and loyal to his friends and tried to do everything by his code of honour. I'm so glad this appeared in my recommendations I needed someone to talk about him
This video is so fucking well made. I love this video and the amount of detail that has just been revealed to me. There's just so much to this show that is BEGGING to be analyzed and this video just shows how deep it really can be analyzed, all the way down to the franchises that make up the world itself. Also HOLY SHIT the presence of the assassin's creed franchise and influence in this show, much like the assassins, was hiding in PLAIN SIGHT! Brilliant
7:54 i swear to god, if it has anything to do with the board of directors for eden then im gonna freak out because i knew those outfits were way out of place for such a corporate enviroment (↓↓spoilers↓↓) ... i think they "were" templars
What a great video. I'm really only seeing the feedback from the Rayman side of the fandom, but it's great to hear positive reception and discussion from the Assassins Creed side of things. It's nice to see people giving Bullfrog his due as he really is an excellent lad ♥
I've watched this video 3 times at this point. You explain everything so thoroughly and passionately! Thank you so much for giving me a better understanding of who Bullfrog is!!
Hearing that something I've made is enjoyable to the point someone is willing to watch it multiple times is basically the ideal end-state I strive towards - I'm glad you enjoy it so much, and thank you!
I loved this show so much but Warden's sudden betrayal at the end had me so confused. I was genuinely disappointed that she gave us such a genuine and heartfelt (and long winded) backstory about why she was against Eden only to suddenly contradict herself. Now everything makes sense. She's a director of Eden, she's a Templar, she never did want to betray the Templars, she only wanted more power. Entirely self motivated. Amazing. This video is awesome, thanks for calling out so many nuances in the show! I never would've known, since I've never played Assassin's Creed.
She agrees with Hondo‘s views and thinks the Templars have gone corrupt but I think she doesn’t want to use violence she wants to use peace and yeah I see our point
I REALLY want a Bullfrog prequel episode, now. I imagine he was just a big ol' silly billy before becoming an assassin, the biggest notable difference being a lack of swift and cunning, because it's ALWAYS surprising this cute frog do such brutal kills and perform such incredible feats of strength and skill in the show. It's too easy to imagine! That, and his muscles. Dude looks fuckin' RIPPED for a Toon.
Holy shiiiiiiit dude this video is amazing I never even played assassins creed but I adore bullfrog and now after hearing that twist....should I go play assassins creed? Omg...
I mean my recommendation is yes, but be aware your mileage may vary on some of the games, but 1, 2, Brotherhood, Revelations, and 3 are unreserved recommendations from me, for whatever that's worth
I’m a huge assassins creed fan and when I first saw bullfrog I new he would be my favorite character and after watching this show I can whole heartedly say he is
Funny thing is, the slaughter of the Board of the Directors (aka the Templar Order) is ironic considering it was done by a former Eden puppet who was turned against them by an Assassin, considering in the Assassin's Creed series there was Daniel Cross, being an Assassin who was a brainwashed Templar agent who assassinated the head of the Brotherhood. There's so many deep cuts in this show.
If someone told me I'd have a French Assassin Frog as my favorite character in a show, I think would have laugh but after watching the show I couldn't get enough of this Frog, I love this little guy so much 🤣 (Btw, I'd also like to add that I think Bullfrog is French, not Canadian. Canadians have a specific accent and Bullfrog doesn't have a canadian accent. I really liked your video, I just wanted to say my opinon 👉👈)
Dude they need to add him into the new Assassin's creed Nexus game. Imagine playing as bullfrog in VR and you literally just go around stabbing people's ankles or preform air Assassinations, that'd be great
35:25 She was trying to get him killed by being sent on a wild goose chase, only for him to actually succeed at “talking to the frog”. Maybe she assumed he needed to see the truth to be become vulnerable enough to be caught or maybe it’s only that Bullfrog assumed he came to talk to him for the sake of seeing the past via a bubble dream. I assume she did see the supermaxx bubble through the security cameras, so…she probably hoped for one to come to distract him until the Niji 6 caught up to him. The problem with that is that A she underestimated Rayman/Ramon’s capabilities & B she overestimated the abilities of that red prick.
Loved the video, despite it being like half of the video wasn't even about Bullfrog itself, but it also gave a real new perspective to the entire series and the implications of it. Great video!
You do the bestest work brother. You are precious and your dedication is appreciated. When I heard Sarah say the word “Templar”, my mind started to freak out. Captain LazerHawk and this video really got me invested in the Assassin's Creed games, so much so I've started using the Valhalla bit at the end as a guide on which Assassin's Creed games to play
This show is so creative even to the small details of making the Raving Rabbids into something completely opposite that they are originally. I love how Ubisoft is literally playing in their toy chest. Using their APs as action figures and just created an alternate universe, where things just fall into place and makes sense. Each character has a purpose and has at least one trait about them that come from their games. Even Rayman. This show is amazing. I really hope there’s a physical release of season one.
Eden, or the Templars, would only work if the higher leaders were not human or human-like whatsoever, yet in doing so the new power’d likely would forget how to understand humans and their wills or erase what “humanity” ideologically is. It’s - by my personal theory - contradictory and impossible to have such a state without it developing into a dystopian system. Moving in from that bit, I loved this review! Considering I know little about Ubisofts series (I never could get into their games, but I always enjoyed the idea of them), this really opened my eyes to the inner plot and my favorite killer frog! I never knew about the Templars much, so this is just a huge post-watch reveal, it’s insane! Thanks for the video, keep up the good work!

Aaaaaaah, that explains why they're called Niji. I just figured it out because of the colour schemes
This is absolutely the concept of a futuristic assassin's Creed that everybody wanted like 5 years ago when people thought about where/when the series should take place
It's something that everyone wanted, but never knew they needed the bullfrog assassin with Rayman being a possible companion.
Glad to see this show is making impressions on people and getting the attention it deserves
Mostly cause of Rayman and bullfrog tbh
You wanna get people’s attention? Give ‘em Rayman.

She needed him so she could manipulate Rayman into killing the directors for her.

I would love to see Ramon and Bullfrog as a duo
This definitely feels like a prologue
I want it so much that I feel is going to happen xD
I think Sam and Dolph are in the VR space
Bullfrog _absolutely_ sees them as his newest Novices you can't change my mind
Bullfrog literally made me smile any time he was on screen
I think Bullfrog had his suspicions that Eden are the Templars but lacked reliable intel to confirm it, or didn’t care because in the end he’s fighting oppression which is exactly when Assassins do
Love how he starts as a joke and ends up being such a loved character in 2 hours

I know this series is only really using the Blood Dragon Name for like
The reference
But I really want Rex Power Colt to show up
It would just be really cool to see him
In Far Cry 5 theres a picture with Dolph next to Rex and Rex has a new design so i wouldnt doubt seeing him in season 2
I would also like to add, that in the brotherhood once joining you have to make the finger sacrifice to show commitment and so that the hidden blade can work. Bullfrog has four fingers. He took the oath but didn't actually have to loose a finger because he had the space on his hand being a frog.
I wonder if that ritual was discarded in favor of something else due to newer blade models not cutting off a finger to begin with.
9:23 Bullfrog really went 'free Novices?' and didn't wait for them to correct him
23:12 I don't think we're ever told what happened to Wrench. I like the thought that he started hacking everything in reach and causing _utter mayhem_ until Eden eventually caught up with him
31:57 _Loving_ your audible outrage
Realizing the Templars got into a fall out and one of them cherry picked the last of the Assassins so she can have them be a key piece to the downfall of the rest of the Templars and take over the order to reshape it to her will, it's a plot twist I was not expecting from a show where Pagan Min bangs the protagonist's ex-bf.
I will always find it funny that the group named after rainbow six are just toxic trash talker when there on screen
That didn’t even occur to me - That’s hilarious
I've been following this show from the shadows for a while now, mostly because Rayman fans take what they can get, but what surprised me is just how good this show is even for people who never heard of an "Ubisoft". What surprised me even more was that Rayman ended up being my favorite character even after disassociating him from the one I know and love.
This show is a trip in the best possible way. Cody Rhodes is my legit favorite wrestler ever, shocked to see a real human amongst all the fictional characters. He had the best line in the show too. But by far, Bullfrog is the one who left the greatest impression in my mind.
I did not expect this video. A welcome surprise
If it’s of any consolation I didn't expect to make it going into it. But after seeing the series I had to. Nothing motivated me more this past week. I am very tired.

As somebody who has played zero assassin's creed, this cleared up A LOT for me. Honestly Rayman's character arc in particular is WILD but also just... SO interesting
17:30 Thank you for explaining that. I was wondering why someone with a high body count would be so against taking vengeance.

They imply he was a big Rayman fan when he was a little kid. So we at least know he wasn't born into the brotherhood.
I like to think he was always both silly & cunning, the creed just gave his skills a reason to be used ;3.
This is called justice

I love this silly frog so much. I even have his plushie. The best character other than rayman in this show, and this video proves that
Seeing the Templar symbol on the Board of Directors' masks once you know is so crazy. They were literally right there from the very beginning!
Bullfrog and Rayman carry the show
35:25 She was trying to get him killed by being sent on a wild goose chase, only for him to actually succeed at “talking to the frog”.
This made me love the show even more, this was great!! I really hope this show gathers more attention I need that season two.
Loved the video, despite it being like half of the video wasn't even about Bullfrog itself, but it also gave a real new perspective to the entire series and the implications of it. Great video!

Alright alright, I'll rewatch Captain Laserhawk for a fourth time
Captain LazerHawk and this video really got me invested in the Assassin's Creed games, so much so I've started using the Valhalla bit at the end as a guide on which Assassin's Creed games to play
I would recommend it, just include AC4 after Connor if you want AC Valhalla to hit harder
I did not expect to enjoy this series as much as I did and I did not expect for the French assassin cartoon frog to be my favorite character
This literally does what I wish Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers could've been
This show is so creative even to the small details of making the Raving Rabbids into something completely opposite that they are originally.

In Rayman legends there is a character called Ursula- who in in the "splinter cell team" with Glob cell, and Splinter Ray. IF you take a look at HER design you notice just how much she looks alike with Sarah! Which means- they took the design from Rayman legends. ALSO!
