1:57:55 Maine didn't actually kill Dorio. She was shot by one of the cops while she was trying to inject Maine with a dose of immunosuppressants. I think it's purposefully presented in a confusing way in the anime, to make the audience think what Maine's thinking in that moment, confusion on if he'd killed his own lover while he was going psycho.
quite sad if you think about it. Maine's soul must have been devastated knowing how he treated David and Dorio, considering it made him have a brief moment of clarity before death.
You know, this video just kind of reinforces how much of a legend V is. Took down multiple gang leaders, adam smasher, dozens of psychos and arasaka elites... Depending on your build and difficulty, V did it like it was NOTHING too lol.
I just think it's amazing that Mike Pondsmith drew incredible believable parallels from our real world and weaved an incredible story and universe from it. Shit, don't know how old some of these ideas are here but the man may as well be a prophet at this point. Just incredible, amazing execution on editing of the lore as well. I loved every second of this video!
Most of what is written in the lore in this video was written from 1988 to 1994. The vast majority. Mostly the 2030-2077 stuff is from 2015 on. So yeah, man was WAY ahead.
Fantastic, as a lore nerd, couldn’t ask for a better video. Before 2077 didn’t know squat. After playing 2077 became my favorite game and second only to Halo in my favorite lore.

I'm glad to see this amazing video back up, it's gone right back to the top of the Lore videos playlist I use for work/sleep. Keep up the great work Wise.
thanks, man! this is a true masterpiece and logical conclusion (as of this point in time) to your massive Cyberpunk series. it’s really great that you’ve managed to solve all the underlying issues that contributed to the first upload’s handling by YT. this piece deserves to be seen by as broad audience it can possibly reach with no artificial handicaps
Family, this was INCREDIBLE. Thanks for taking the immense amount of time required to flesh out all the written lore into a chronological timeline. Fair play, mate, you successfully chronicled almost 40 years of writing, and just added SO much to my understanding of the Cyberpunk '77 universe.
I'm not a huge lore nerd but I am a huge cyberpunk nerd. Man did this vid scratch a huge itch for me, cause Cyberpunk (the series) has such a crazy and wildly complex background that I can rarely ever scratch the surface of reading the sourcebooks before I need to move on to other things, but it's one of those things I've always wanted to know more about. This must've taken an insane amount of time to put together, kudos and thanks for doing so!
I cannot overstate how much I appreciate the quality of your lore videos. Visuals, background music, pacing, and your absolutely stellar vocal presentation to top it off--absolutely some of the best out there. Been lurking on your channel for quite some time now, and I think you finally reaching 100k is absolutely deserved. Congratulations!! 😘😘
Reality is much worse. Most people don't want to admit the reality of many things. Even the board game neglects reality in favor of faceless oppressors that are generic and inoffensive. In truth, the US (and many, many parts of the world) is not ran and influenced by people as faceless, generic and as inoffensive as the boardgame fictionalizes it to be. But if the boardgame were to get that aspect correct, it would not have existed in the first place, which only further proves that reality is much worse. Who truly runs the corporations/governments of today? Why are their last names so weird sounding? Why is it so blatantly obvious that the CEO/owners of these corporations clearly are not the current owners of said corporations and are simply only following instructions? Very fascinating stuff...
cyberpunk lore is that it gets worse, and then it gets worse, and then it gets worse, and then it gets worse, and then it gets worse (cool robotic implants)
Honestly, I am a history lover, so learning about stuff in the past and how things came to be and all that is just so interesting. So learning about the most important Cyberpunk history and lore just had me even more invested in the universe than I already was after playing the game
I know your comments about 11 months old now, but you should really check out fallouts lore and history. I really appreciate it when game devs take actual history and then divert it to fit a games lore narrative. I love how creative it gets when our history diverts into the games history.

Superb work!
Wonderful video. Well worth the effort. It was articulated extremely well and seems to have contained everything one would need for a total lore overview for Cyberpunk. Thank you.
Absolute brilliant! Thanks! One thing I'm curious to know more about is how cyberware came to be as prolific as it is; how it all started and how it evolved throughout the timeline.
Honestly I think that was thanks to the war, a reason why I think we’ll have similar cybernetics is thanks to the neuralink, with it, it can pair both your brain and a cybernetic arm thus making it part of you.
1:57:54 very tiny nit pick Maine did not kill Dorio. if you watch the scene closely. she slips past his shots at her. gives him his meds and he comes to seeing he was actually shooting at Dorio. then the cops shoot her from behind. knowing this it is actually even worse because he wasn't in a cyberpsychosis state when he had to watch her die because she cared more for him then herself.
Thank you WiseFish for your hard work. You definitely deserve many more subscribers and i hope your future is better than the Cyberpunk world.😆 I just finished Cyberpunk 2077 a few days ago. So this video came out at great time. I can't wait to see your videos on the Cyberpunk dlc expansion.
Thanks for a great overview of the story! It filled a lot of the gaps I had from only playing the game. By the way, 34:37 it’s CHOOH2, “O” as in oxygen, although such chemical molecule is not possible; not with our current technology, at least. However, a molecule with one less hydrogen IS possible. CHOOH is a formic acid, a basic carboxylic acid. The name is derived from the acid ants produced. In Latin, formica means an ant. Also, 56:12 his name is Kim Jong-il, not “the second”.
Formic acid exists only in dimers: (CHOOH)2 so the chemical formula would make physical sense this way. And there are fuel cells IRL that work on formic acid.
This video was very informative and well arranged. My favorite part of this video is that it managed to put into a clearer perspective how terrifying Adam Smasher is for ending the lives of a few NC's legends, and how BADASS it is that our V to be able to take him down, while being handicapped by suffering from the Relic's side effect! Hail V!
My favourite part of cyberpunk lore is how the entire world is constantly rocked by devastating financial collapses and disasters with incredible frequency yet somehow there's never labour shortages or supply chain disruptions that would stop massive construction and technology projects
God the graphics and art direction from 0:01 to 1:39 is so amazing, what a city they've created I wish they had made like 5 expansions for this game not just one :( :(
Maybe, in this world it makes sense. Getting overthrown would likely result in a royal civil war, and it isn’t like kings and princes aren’t know for leading soldiers in civil wars lol
Thank you so much for the time and effort you put into this! ❤I‘ve entered the Cyberpunk universe with the game, and always wondered how this world became what it is in the game.
As brillant as ever ;) Yet 2 mistakes : Dorio wasn't kill by Maine, but died taking a bullet for him, bullet shot by a NCPD officer (the scene yet might be confusing). from the crew, only Lucy and Falco survived, as David dies covering their flight. Minor points really, in comparaison to the troumendous work done here 🙏
David also might have been hit by soulkiller, the last thing Smasher says to David was "You could prove an interesting construct" I think David's resilience to cyberpsychosis means Arasaka probably wants his engram
@@thomasfitzpatrick8077nah, smasher had a bit of respect and David said he didn’t care about becoming a construct so he killed him off before arasaka could get their mittens on him

Its wild to think how much can be done within this universe. Ixm ezcited for the next one. Cyberpunk 2077 os my favorite game 9f all time. Thank you for this video. Extremely well done.
Cyberpunk's world is the type of sci-fi I could actually see happening. Sure, not to the extreme of using so many nukes, but the economic and most grounded technological aspects, are somewhat believable, especially nowadays with AI progressing and prosthetics getting better, while economic inequality, government corruption, and pollution grows. Aldecado (the founder), and Richard Nights are probably the only ones I dare to say who are actually good people, while the rest are.. a bit iffy at beat, sociopaths at worse
Economic equality is the only thing that’s grown, pollution has gone down massively (except for in developing nations and China) and the US government is roughly the same corruption wise as far as we know, it’s just more obvious now that most people have the internet and easier access to information. This is over the top, but some beats could really happen in our future. I do think there’ll be space colonies and plenty of global crises in the future, but prosthetics and AI will change the world, more likely that prosthetics won’t be recreational, but I could see the government utilizing them for military purposes if AI soldiers don’t come first lol
This was incredible. I really enjoyed watching it all the way through. This world is so alive. Even the smallest moment can cause a huge impact. Thank you for making this video.
I love the game, it has it's ups and downs from a technical standpoint, but the story is just amazing. One of these worlds that feels too real at some time, and to think that we might be just a century or so off...
I have been aware of the Cyberpunk 2077 realm since a couple of years before the release of the PC game. Life has sadly prevented me from engaging with said game. Now 2/3rds of the way through this video, I just wanted to stop and say just how incredible both your effort AND the CP2077 world are!! Kudos, and thanks!!

Glad to see this back up. Great video. One note - Kei (Arasaka) is always pronounced "kay" or simply "K" in Japanese. Your pronunciation only works if it was spelled Kai.
IDK if anyone4 caught this but The Pitt in Pittsburgh is also in fallout as well. Fallout Wiki: "The Pitt, nicknamed the Steel City,[1] City of Steel,[2] and the Gateway to the West[2] before the War, is a raider-dominated city built in the ruins of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania"
The perfect video to watch before starting a new playthrough following the major updates / changes from patch 2.0, before Phantom liberty drops shortly. Thanks
A wonderful recital of the full timeline! I’d probably only be able to recall a few details, as I was driving in my car as I was listening, but it was very entertaining. You also have a great narrating voice!
The next game whenever it comes out needs to have more nomad clans and more corporations, because just from listening to the video there are more moving parts in this cyberpunk universe then just two corporations, and they also need to bring in more interesting and unique characters like they had in the cyberpunk anime and comic, it's a lot of potential here where they can do a lot of games and spinoffs and hell even a anime series.
And make it set in some new city somewhere in the world. Not just some dystopian Californian city. But somewhere like New York. Miami. Rio de Janeiro. Europe. Africa. Japan somewhere.
Cyberpunk has become one of my fav games of all time. It’s like the perfect mix of fallout meets GTA, and those are 2 of my fav game series already. CD Project did create 2077 and the map / world of 2077 there of, but the world of Cyberpunk was created by Mike Pondsmith. Mike wrote the first pen and paper Cyberpunk in 1988 (later reknown as cyberpunk 2013 when Cyberpunk 2020 released in 1990.)
@@itsCobbi No Problem. Mike is a real swell guy, and i'm happy as hell for him that his world and universe got to be made in viddeogame form by CD Projekt.
@@itsCobbi They didn't create it. Cyberpunk has been a TTRPG for like 30 years. The worldbuilding was done by Mike Pondsmith in the early 90s and the lore was written over decades. CD Projekt Red brought it to screen in a beautiful manner, but they had a huge "bible" to work from
@lowkeylysemith2568 I knew all about Mike and the TTRPG side of Cyberpunk. I was talking about the game. The implementation, the art style, the music, the stories and everything else that comes with it. Yes, they created the game.

Cyberpunk strikes me as the future we're heading into but without the cool cybernetics, at least, not to the same degree.
I wished we gotten the cool cybernetics. Maybe it could’ve possible if some technological regulations didn’t exist.
We may still get the cool cybernetics. Technology just needs to advance enough to invent and improve them along with advancing the internet to what C-2077 has.
If that's the case my best bet is moving out of the USA and moving to Europe
And how corporations are screwing the people and ruining the land
@ducksoup10 war is the mother of invention, or rather nessecisty, which is what drives the development of technology.

Maine didn't actually kill Dorio. She was shot by one of the cops while she was trying to inject Maine with a dose of immunosuppressants.
I think it's purposefully presented in a confusing way in the anime, to make the audience think what Maine's thinking in that moment, confusion on if he'd killed his own lover while he was going psycho.
Damn.
quite sad if you think about it.
So yeah, man was WAY ahead.

thanks, man! this is a true masterpiece and logical conclusion (as of this point in time) to your massive Cyberpunk series.
it’s really great that you’ve managed to solve all the underlying issues that contributed to the first upload’s handling by YT. this piece deserves to be seen by as broad audience it can possibly reach with no artificial handicaps
The Cyberpunk universe is by far my favorite out of any video game I've ever played. Great video, I always enjoy videos diving deep into the lore

Very happy to see this one back online, I wanted to rewatch it and I could not find it. Google really is the Arasaka of our times
Haha they’re the big bad corpos
They are "burning the library of Alexandria".

Have to say dude, the way you have edited this video, is truly impressive! Literally had me going "oh i know that game/movie/show!" All throughout! Yet you link them up with relevant times dates and places in the cyberpunk timeline. You managed to make it all connect together so well it feels like its footage from cp 2077's universe.. Seriously, well bloody done!
Such a fantastic video, this took me like a week to actually watch and absorb so I can’t imagine how much work went into this. Thanks man, you’re awesome.
As a budding UA-camr focusing on photography and cinematography, I have ridiculously high respect for you for making anything this long. My videos average about 8-9 minutes long and the work that goes into THOSE is a lot. I can’t imagine your workflow and talents to make a damn movie-length video and have it all fit together so well. Superb work!
Wow. Thank you for making this. I can't even fathom how much time and effort went into it, but I genuinely enjoyed every moment! 🙏
The main reason i found this video was for that answer specifically
Honestly I think that was thanks to the war, a reason why I think we’ll have similar cybernetics is thanks to the neuralink, with it, it can pair both your brain and a cybernetic arm thus making it part of you.
I love how the lore is like:
-*Awful thing happens and tons of people are killed/affected*
-"But if you thought THAT was bad..."
You definitely deserve many more subscribers and i hope your future is better than the Cyberpunk world.😆
I just finished Cyberpunk 2077 a few days ago. So this video came out at great time. I can't wait to see your videos on the Cyberpunk dlc expansion.

And there are fuel cells IRL that work on formic acid.
he probably saw it written as “Il”
This video was very informative and well arranged. My favorite part of this video is that it managed to put into a clearer perspective how terrifying Adam Smasher is for ending the lives of a few NC's legends, and how BADASS it is that our V to be able to take him down, while being handicapped by suffering from the Relic's side effect!
Hail V!
My favourite part of cyberpunk lore is how the entire world is constantly rocked by devastating financial collapses and disasters with incredible frequency yet somehow there's never labour shortages or supply chain disruptions that would stop massive construction and technology projects

I could see it happening if the "90s" was the 2040s instead. And even that is the minimum.

First time watching this and I can honestly say, this is a fascinating video about a wonderful game and a terrifying world CD Projekt Red created. Thank you so much for all of your efforts. It's time for jumping into the game again!

I'm not a fan of RPGs and with the terrible state Cyberpunk 2077 was released I skipped on this one, but as many thank to Edgerunners I was captivated by this world, and after suffering through this game on console, I can say it was one of the most beautiful stories I ever experienced in videogames, to me, in the same level of MGS 3 or Max Payne 2, but I am surprised how deep this lore goes, no wonder CDPR wanted to license it, it is amazing and I really love how it without any fear mixed real events, countries and organizations and was able to chracterize them in a very believable way, it is incredible.
