Have been looking for the right charger and way to do this for a while for my ram mount (which I love). Hit your vid and everything I need was right here. Already have ordered the charger. THANK YOU!!!
Thank you for sharing this wonderful information. It is exactly what i need !
Seen this set up, and built it for my car, and it works great, no more wires hanging about...
Thanks for this!
Nice and clean 👍🏻
Neat idea!
Thanks for the video, I had exactly this idea and thought to myself if it works, someone has already done it. There are already ram mounts with induction integrated but they are very expensive and if you already have the X-Grip it is a good solution.
Glad you found it helpful. Yes we saw those Ram chargers and thought they were way too much, this has been a good budget solution. Thanks for watching!
Awesome! Just what I needed! I think I’ll use double stick tape!
Super! Yes, not sure why I didn’t think of tape. I guess I just used what I had. 3M makes some good tape for something like this.
I've got an idea that will work better for me but thanks for the idea!
Why hasn’t RAM integrated the MagSafe charger like this? This is exactly how I envisioned the integration. Nicely done🤙
I like this. I have used some double sided gorilla tape for such projects worked like a charm👍
Justin Sturgill That’s a good idea. Someone else mentioned 3M tape. If it sticks... it sticks! 😆👍
Great video. Good ideas. Only question I have why sand down both the charger and RAM mount ?
It gives the adhesive a good grab on the two attached pieces.
can the quick grip mount also be modified into a wireless charger?
nice but not IP67 which is a minimum for riding all terrain all weathers. Lexin antenna is waterproof.
Cool video. The ram mount version is like $100. What size ram mount balls are you using. B or C? Also does the X holder work well for you phone?
I wasn’t aware of them having different size balls, sorry can’t help there. The Xmount holds the phone pretty good, only downside is it wants to grab where my iPhone X has its volume and power buttons so I have to position it up a bit and hit the sweet spot where it holds it, doesn’t push a button, and still charges. If I re-made it I would have positioned the charger up a bit more.
As far as holding it, it’s Strong, has never fallen out and barely shakes. Every once in a great while with temp changes the suction cup might let go.
Awesome but does it charge through your case??
It depends on the charger used. This one charges fine through my thin otterbox case so long as my phone is centered to the charger.
I’m looking to do this for my motorcycle ram mount has anyone one done this? I was curious if anyone experienced rain causing issues with charging?
Anyone?
Well since no one replied I went ahead and did this and tested it also in the rain and have not had any issues caused by rain, it works great! I did need to replace the cord not due to the 45 degree angle but due to the fact the cord it came with fit loose and from the vibrations of a Harley would vibrate out. New cord for tighter and resolved the issue! Also I used 3m double sided tape instead of the adhesive in the video and have had no issues.
@@Firefighter8253 Thank you for feeding back on this.
@@Firefighter8253 thanks just made this too...
Thanks for testing this out. Glad it works! Good idea on the 3M tape. If it ever gets ruined it would be an easier replacement 👍
Is that wireless charger waterproof?
I couldn’t say, you might check out the link and the product description. I would think it to be water resistant but not proof.
Sorry for the late reply, UA-cam stopped notifying me of comments.
I cant find this charger, do you have an alternative charger that may also work? Im struggling to find a mini version that will still allow my s21 to fit. Cheers
let me know if you find one. I am looking also
I found this one as a possible alternative but have not tried it yet. If you try it please give feedback as to what you think: amzn.to/3bEC2G2

@@NarrowRoadAdventures can confirm. I bought the one linked and it fits and functions in your setup
Super! Glad to hear it works. Thanks for reporting back!👍
А если сильный дождь пойдёт?
Don’t glue that cheep charger on it will break soon just 2 side tape it on!
Yup I have the same charger on my desk and its flaky AF just sitting in a stable environment.
Good call. If that’s the case I’ll find some way to get it off to replace it. So far still going good.

20 bucks huh, no ram product is ever that cheap.
Lol “$20 DIY Wireless Charger …FOR Ram mount” as the title describes, $20 is for the charger addition, not the mount. The chargers have actually gotten cheaper so now it only costs about $12.
