KL looks fantastic, it has an adelaide vibe, tree lined, clean, arty, even the scooters ... we have electric trams and trains, masks must be worn on public transport but adelaide is surrouned by parklands so perfect for picnics, and its a tram or train ride to many of our beaches...and construction yeah its full on...KL is a future friendly city for sure .
I'm Malaysian from KL. For those who didn't know, KL was all along the top city in South East Asia back in the 80's/90's but, I guess it's coming back now. Almost all big companies hub are in KL at that time.

Go to KL Sentral and take a train to Port Klang. Opposite the the train station is the ferry terminal where you take the short ferry ride to Pulau Ketam. I am sure you will be fascinated how the islanders live. On your return trip to KL also by the same train stop by Klang to look around and do not forget to taste our specialty - Bak Kut Teh, you will love it. Hope i will be able to bum into both of you. Yes our national day is on August 31. You can actually view the parade in front of the Merdeka Square and its totally free to watch. Its the large field with the tallest flag pole and old colonial buildings. Btw, you can walk through the Petronas twin towers to the other side and there is a massive free park there with a fountain that lights up at night.
I highly recommend you guys goimg to Bangsar! Its where i grew up and it has malls around eg.Mid Valley,The Gardens, Bangsar village ect. And many restuarants which has all the local foods of malaysia and the perfect place to go if you want to explore the different foods!

Someday come to jakarta and try hight speed railway first on southeast, usually use car from jakarta to bandung 4 hours, but now with hight speed railway only 45 minuts to bandung. Wow amazing guys very very fast
Go to ICC Pudu to try out the delicious food there. Many stalls and many choices to choose from. But must go early in the morning before the food sold out.
Every Sunday there is KL car free morning, road is close for 2hrs, can cycling, skateboard, running, walking except on this 28/8 they are doing rehearsal for merdeka day

Be careful when the rain falls, especially during evening time. Sometimes flash flood happen quiet often.
Also near china town, there is also madras lane famous for curry noodles, yong tau foo and other local food.

When you insert a coin...look at the sign infront of the gate for IN or OUT or sometimes it shows X for no entry or correct sign for entry.
In the city, try out the 'GoKL' buses which are free. There are a few routes

you can find local food in any shopping mall. There is a food court in Twin tower as well.
You can go to Wanjo Restaurant in Kampung Baru to eat best nasi lemak... its about 15 minutes walk from Petronas Twin Tower...
